Thoughts on Burglary Missions.

What do you think on burglary missions, and should they be brought back?

One of my favourite elements of San Andreas is the night time burglary missions. I thought it was a nice change to be able to break the law without attracting any attention to yourself (unless you're really bad at the burglary missions), and it was a good way to earn yourself some money. The time restrictions were a bit unfortunate, but not a deal-breaker, and I think it's a shame Rockstar have yet to bring them back into the games. But what do you think? Are burglary missions one of the side-missions you'd like to see brought back into GTA? Or would you rather it be left out of future installments? Let us know your thoughts below and give a vote in the poll. Any ideas for modern and improved burglar missions would be nice to hear too.

I honestly think the burglary missions in SA are highly overlooked as no one ever talks about them. Hell, I just found out you can do it just last year and I've been playing the game for how long? This is the only GTA game to let you do this, so I would love it in the next GTA.

I would like to see the burglary side-mission back, but Rockstar needs to add a lot of unique interiors to make it work. The San Andreas interior system with its overuse of copy-paste wasn't particularly good.

Bring ‘em back.

Can’t see it happening though.  Appropriately thought out and placed missions and minigames has been gone by the wayside in favor of stuff like yoga.. yay; and golf...

Instead of burglarizing houses when I play GTA, I can practice to take on Tiger at Augusta and do yoga to get rid of all the bad energy I would have used to commit crimes.

This is GTA now.

It's lame but I wouldn't be angry if R* brought it back.

One of the best minigames in the series. Could be a big thing from the technical advancements of the HD era.

I hope they bring them back. The game needs more repeating criminal activities in free roam.

I wouldn't even care if they just had a few interiors modeled and re-used them. Maybe have the houses you can rob randomly change so you'd have to search neighborhoods and look for entry points like open windows. Maybe nobody is home. Maybe they're sleeping. Maybe they're awake and armed. Maybe there's a big dog.

Without the burglary missions, I wouldn't have been able to win the Beat the Cock 2 triathlon race, where the opponent always overtake you at the final leg.

Infinite sprint always has its uses.

Yes I would like to see this feature return for the next game, but with a refined system to make it more challenging.

Just wondering, in the context of a crime game; if burglary is lame .. what do you consider cool ?

I thought it was entertaining, an updated version should definitely be brought back.

Burglary was one of the better side missions in San Andreas that fitted in without making me feel like I was someone looking for a blue collar job since most of the other side missions had nothing to do with being a "criminal".

in saying that it's one of those things that although I didn't mind it wouldn't bother me either way if it came back or not since I never noticed it not being there in GTA IV or GTA V. However if it's brought back I would like there to be more incentive than just making a quick buck since I found it useless by the time I got to San Fierro and Las Venturas.

Like maybe we could use it to gain intel on rival gangs by breaking into one of their drug dens or something .

It would be nice to have obviously, but also easy to live without.

I really like them. Crime based side missions are the best side missions AND it allows you to enter more interiors and therefore makes the buildings of the city seem more real, a double win! With all the possibilities of different things to do with them in a more advanced game it would be really interesting to see them brought back.

Talking about the new sub-missions introduced by San Andreas the Freight train is largely funnier.

Talking about the other sub-missions the vigilante and to a lesser extent the taxi and fireman jobs are also much better.

I said I'm neutral, because I don't think they were done right in San Andreas. If Rockstar can do them right, then I would love them in the next game, but if it's like in San Andreas, then no.

Yeah, definitely want this to return to the franchise. I'd like to be able to pick locks to break in, or slip in through a window though. Would add to it all for me.

But not online. Too much pettiness there already and I don't trust R* with balance. :)

I loved burglary side activity in GTA SA,so I'd love if it would return in the next GTA game.I just hope next time they would make various different places where we could find burglary van and deliver stolen stuff,so we're not forced by time limit to only work in one area on the map (I also wanted to steal stuff in west LS, in LV, SF, and different small towns, but then I wouldn't have enough time to deliver the stuff to the garage in south-east LS).

I haven't played it for ages but I remember you could rob at least one house over in the hills of Mulholland in West LS (it was a big mansion which was cool), and also that there were other vans/garages in SF and LV so you could do the mission there too. The amount of different houses you could rob was pretty impressive for the time imo, but I agree even more different places and time would make it even better. I guess the 1 in game hour = 2 minutes instead of 1 in game hour = 1 minute thing would already help a lot.

Man the burglary missions really are underrated like @El Penguin Bobo says. It was awesome exploring all the different houses and sneaking around hoping not to wake anyone up. And I still remember how scary it was entering a house in East LS too close to dawn and finding myself in a living room surrounded by very much awake gang members armed with shotguns lol. One of the best side missions of the series

I'm neutral, but that's because I never tried them, I'd prolly find them a bit lame tbh. But hey, the more content the better.

It's honestly really entertaining for a side mission, you can go in loads of different houses and have to sneak around with a mask on stealing TVs and stereos while people are asleep snoring without waking them up lol. Closer to dawn there's the danger that people will be awake and possibly armed. Also when you've made enough money from it you're rewarded with infinite sprint. It's quite an impressive level of detail for the time and makes the cities seem that much more real being able to enter so many buildings, it's good stuff.

More crime activities are always welcome. I'd like there to be some "heat" on items that you steal so you'd have to wait a couple days before selling them to a pawn shop.

That may be handy.

Can you just shoot the home owners with the silenced pistol and take everything lol?

I think it's possible, just have to be careful as aiming the gun at them wakes them up. If they wake up (caused by filling the noise meter by not moving slowly in stealth mode or making other noise) you get 10 seconds to leave the house or you get a wanted level. So you can choose different ways of doing it, do it all slowly with pure stealth or sneak to pick up the item and then run out waking up the homeowner but get out within the 10 seconds so it doesn't matter. Or kill them and get out within the 10 seconds. They will also try to shoot you when they're woken up if they're armed. So it's pretty fun.

My favourite thing was just seeing how many different houses I could go inside of. A lot of them have repeated interiors, and different ones are available and not available randomly, but there's quite a few different ones. Most are small and basic but there's some cool big ones that can be found, eg:

I enjoyed them. Liked accessing certain interiors, especially the mansions.

Yes was disappointed burglary wasn't in V instead we got yoga and tennis and searching for barrels of waste. Got good memories of running out the house with a tv while the Hispanic man with a shotgun is blasting at me

Would be interesting to break into modern day houses with fancier ones being harder but having better loot and poor houses being easier but not having as much loot

They so could've done it as well, think of how Franklin breaks into Michael's house trying the different doors/windows and sneaking around, could've been ready to go based around that. Sure would've been better than tow truck missions.

Yeah like we already had a stealth mechanic and it could have been a good way to earn cash besides heists and stock market.
