Easy choice. RDR2.

For one thing I actually like playing as Arthur as he's more interesting and better written than CJ and two it doesn't overcompensate with filler activities. I enjoyed both of my playthroughs of RDR2 and have never been bothered seeing San Andreas all the way until the end. That says everything.

San Andreas for me. Rockstar's most complete game to date IMO. They went all out for it.

Uhhhhh I'll go with RDR2. RDR 1 & 2 and SA are Rockstar's best games IMO so it's like choosing between your kids cause each one is a game of the gen contender for each of the platforms they released on.

RDR2's story and open world was just something else, I would say that San Andreas's story has better value though.

Relative to its time, I choose SA. Timelessly, Redemption 2 takes over.

Such different games but I would go with RDR 2. San Andreas was great for it's time and still in the top 3 of GTA games. But I enjoyed the story and open world better in RDR 2.

I'll go with RDR2. All the content in the game makes sense and is enjoyable, the world is filled with secrets to discover, little stories to unfold and the interaction ability with pretty much every NPC or animal is magnificent. Apart from that I love Arthur Morgan and basically every single one from the main cast is written perfectly. The story is alongside GTA IV's the best of any R* game (to date) as well in my opinion.

I think these things are too different to compare directly. Now, GTA IV vs RDR 2 would be a better match.

Is strange. I personally prefer GTA San Andreas but I feel Red Dead Redemption II is better objectively speaking. So I don't know.

GTA SA. yeah the story in RDR2 is much better. but GTA SA feels more free and open while RDR2 feels more restricted. plus GTA SA's story is really not that bad.

both are great games. but i will pick rdr2. the graphics story and gameplay are superior. sure sa did have plenty of fun toys to play with. but we already have most of it in gta 5. the maps feel about equal. they both have super memorable locations. as you know by my username here. i love lemoyne. and its one of my favorite locations in any game. but i also love the desert and countryside in sa. and having three huge cities in the mix makes it even better.

and to top it off rdr2 has an actual multiplayer. now i know about samp but its not an official mp from rockstar. i dont play on pc so i never played it. and i know rdo gets so much hate. and while it deserves some of it. its not bad either. and i have had many great experiences on it.

Both games are legendary and provide players with different yet inimitable experiences. I'll go with SA; all the memories I have playing it are too wholesome. Also, you can't deny the cultural significance of SA. It's 16 years old and still relevant. People quote it, make memes out of it, funny videos and speedruns that get millions of views even in 2020. I'm unable to remember a single player game being relevant for so long. It speaks volumes.

Both are great games. SA was my favorite GTA before IV.

But I have spent a far more time playing Red dead redemption 2 and Red dead online, so thats my answer.

I’m not trying to be a dick or anything, but shouldn’t that be obvious since RDR2 is a much newer game on a better engine than even at the time dated Renderware?

San Andreas was never a great looking game when it was new (not terrible, just ok).

Not just that, I prefer RDR2 because you got lots of things to do in free roam

San Andreas, of course.

I loved RDR2, but San Andreas is San Andreas.

If you want to beat a soldier to death with a giant dildo in the middle of a military base, wearing night vision googles and a lime green suit with trainers, then driving off in a Go-Kart listening to Rage Against The Machine scream "Killing In The Name Of" wondering how you even got here when all you came back to LS for was to bury your mum, then SA is the game for you.

But in RDR2 your horses balls shrink in the cold weather, so I guess both games have something for everyone.

Mission wise? Yeah, free-roam wise? nope imo
