How did Faustin know Niko came to kill him?

Something I've been discussing with one of my friends recently. Look, Dimitri sends Niko to kill Faustin, but the last time Niko and Faustin spoke with each other, Niko just called him out for putting him in danger, which Faustin scoffed him and called him a pussy. It's not enough of a reason for Faustin to suspect Niko is trying to kill him, especially after Niko told him not to question his loyalty. Faustin usually treated Niko as a valuable worker. How did he know that "Niko and Dimitri are taking over"? How did he know that Niko came round to Perestroika to kill him and not just to talk about something? I smell that there could have been something cut along the lines.

My guess would be that behind the scenes he picked up hints from Dimitri. And he was increasingly paranoid and suspicious of everyone in general, knowing that Niko was getting close with him he was probably suspicious of both of them (along with all the other people he's suspicious of). And also could've just picked up a vibe when Niko walked in similarly to how Playboy does.

The thing is Niko wasn't getting close with Dimitri, that was his first mission. I suspect there might have been 1-2 missions cut for Dimitri in the early BETA.

I mean, he was kind of working for Faustin and Dimitri jointly so when he did missions for Faustin he was kind of doing missions for and interacting with/getting to know Dimitri too. If he was becoming suspicious of Dimitri he would naturally also be suspicious of someone who's working with Dimitri who he knew Dimitri might be able to influence against him. I think at that point he thought and hoped they were both loyal but in the back of his mind was the feeling that anyone could betray him. But I agree there could've been more missions/content to show this.

Going off that last bit, Niko is usually summoned by his bosses whenever they have work for him—they expect his presence. Thus, when Niko shows up at Perestroika unannounced, Faustin, who at this point is already wary of Dimitri’s intentions, assumes Niko has come to kill him on orders of Dimitri... and, in his defense, he isn’t wrong.

As BJA8 mentioned, Playboy is similarly suspicious of Niko when the latter arrives at Playboy’s penthouse out of the blue. And, as such, Playboy’s suspicions turn out to be correct and Niko kills him. Also, if you recall in Uncle Vlad, Vlad questions Niko’s presence at Comrades when he asks, “What are you doing here? Did I summon you... boy?” If Vlad wasn’t sh*tfaced, maybe he would’ve taken the hint much sooner that Niko was there to take care of business and fled the scene immediately.

It's foreshadowed in the phonecall Faustin makes to Niko after "Rigged To Blow". You can tell he suspects there's something going with Niko and Dimitri and he knows his days are numbered. I think it's done the make the situation seem more believable than Niko just strolling in and killing him without any meaningful interaction.

And as Vega LVI said above the same thing happens with PBX and Vlad. These guys expect to see Niko again and they're probably good at judging when something's not quite right hence why they react the way they do.

Maybe he wanted Niko dead in the truck mission.

Maybe he wanted to kill Niko from the beginning and Dimitri saw a chance of hired muscle.

It's one thing I'm not at all sure about, so good question OP.
