Problems with the Left Analog Stick (L3) - GTA IV (PS3)

I've recently purchased Grand Theft Auto on the Playstation 3. It is my first time playing this game and I'm very iffy with the car controls. I understand that the physics of the game differ from Grand Theft Auto. In fact, I'm actually quite fond of the physics. However one aspect of the game is throwing me off. When in automobiles, the Left Analog (L3) stick is used to steer the vehicle when titled left to right. However when titled the stick up and down, it moves the camera. I have very sensitive fingers, which results in my camera move up and down continuously, which quite honestly ruins the driving experience of the game. When I read the controls on the Pause screen, it says that the Right Analog stick (R3) controls the camera while the Left Analog stick steers the vehicle. It says nothing about the Left Analog stick controlling the camera. I've searched for so many answers on this topic for nearly 2 hours now, and I still no nothing about this. Is this an unusual and rare problem? Have any of you encountered this before? Can I some how "fix" the controls.

If anyone has can provide some information that would be tremendously helpful of you.

First sentence correction: I recently purchased Grand Theft Auto IV*

Third sentence correction: I understand the physics of the game differs from Grand Theft Auto V*
