i can´t code, but i think they maybe build systems on top of other systems which are part of a another system...etc.

so i guess the old code does have so many systems depending on it, that when changing 1 single thing, it causes big bugs in a another part.

 

game development is weird...like in the volition saints row 2 stream (yeah a different dev and series) they talked about how they made a little change and it broke like the walking animation of like half the peds.

and the change had nothing with animation to do.

so it isn´t really easy to go back and change 6 year old code

^^ Just an issue of priorities and motivation--code can be ported fairly easily even between similar CPUs; e.g. PPC and 680x0 line.

Going over what we found,

1- Rockstar is trying to change how the freemode script is requested thus it's possible we may get a new script that will function like freemode but with some changes.

You know how Rockstar can't change "old code" ? Well, their way of fixing that is to come up with new scripts that would function the same but with new code.

The mini-games you can launch in your Biker Clubhouse like the Arm Wrestling and Darts ? They have new scripts made just for them, because Rockstar can't mess with the old one.

Have you noticed any significant changes ? Nope, same mini-games but different location.

So the possible changes coming to freemode that I talked about will be the same, it could be a big list of changes or minor changes, could be Cops n Crooks OR custom freemode lobbies (like you can disable/enable certain vehicles or weapons ..etc)

 

2- We found out that it is possible the number of players in this new freemode will be adjustable, so the session may be limited to 16 players or 8 players or even less.

This feature would work well with either Cops n Crooks or custom freemode lobbies, or completely unrelated this new update could introduce roles like criminal-related roles.

You know how R* had problems with Heists because of the roles given to the players ? For example, they had problems with the gateway driver role.

In the single-player version, the gateway driver will be waiting for you outside, but try to imagine yourself in the same position, it will be so boring.

Heck that's why people hate Flecca Job, because you may end up with a player who suck at hacking and you'll stay there watching him try to hack it multiple times.

With this in mind, the limitation of how many players can play in this new freemode, is possibly because each player will play as part of a team with a given role, so they can't let one team outnumber another team.

 

3- Just recently, I found out that in this new mode, you won't see the icons for missions, races, minigames such as Tennis / Arm Wrestling ..etc

This further suggest this new freemode is gonna be a mode rather than what most people think of it as a better version of the current freemode.

 

With all of this in mind, Cops n Crooks seem highly possible to be the next update, but this all speculation.

This may not be the answer to your question, or my answer is too vague, but this is just because I really don't know what's coming in the next update, all I know are the three points I have stated.

Can I just have a moment to just thank you so much for this information?

No "guesswork", no "leak-games", none of that - pure information, and your own take at the information, adding fuel to the speculation engine

From my experience with updating assets, I strongly reckon it's not a case of "they can't", it's more; "they dare not" change anything that works.

 

You know the saying; "If it ain't broke, don't fix it"? Well there's one that comes before that in programming which is "If it works, for your own sake leave it the f*ck alone".

Fun’s post that gtafan recently quoted lays out everything pretty well. The cops n’ crooks part mostly stems from the beta/original GTAO we never got.

Unless it's properly balanced and no hardcore military hardware is allowed in freemode, especially Mk2.

Because 90% of them are abused.

While true, we cannot deny the fact that the MKII has drastically reduced the joy in Freeroam for many. It's the #1 vehicle to use for griefing.

But think like a person spent a week grinding 1M from a bussiness...then comes a griefer in a MK II and blows it effortlessly in less then 10 seconds, to win 2k, some ammo and some snacks. There's nothing that makes griefing worth it in the game so far.

I wouldnt deliver in a public lobby for one this is gta.

That would help it and only be allowed to use starting weapons like the micro smg and pistols but they will flip it up so I would not hold any hope for anything good.

Truth to be told, I don't have any hope for anything good in GTA Online. I'm visiting the forums, more and more off-topic and RDR 2 sections, but I don't even want to touch the game: probably played enough.

 

@Ehllfhire Read this, enough material to answer your questions and much more adequate place to ask them.

The mk2 (and any meme vehicles before and after it) is the prime example on needless escalation to capitalize shark card sales. What started as a jumping car with missiles bound to free roam work, has now escalated to a flying missile bike with counter measure and can be spawned reliably at your feet. Whats next? A rocket rhino that can go off the radar? An invisible helicopter? An iron man suit with teleport abilities? Any vehicle that blatantly gives anyone an advantage in any aspect, so much so that its practically needed to get around is a contradiction of an open world sandbox game.

If this is GTA, wouldn't that mean that selling in a public lobby is the intended game experience though?

 

You're pretty much contradicted yourself with said statement.

 

Hell, literally needing to go out of your way to avoid other players at all costs in an online multiplayer game kind of proves how this game is fundamentally flawed.

I don’t care about militarized vehicles because I can at least believe they exist. The meme vehicles are the problem. Hell, you can’t tell me that taking away the Mk.II would just mean something equally bad will take its place. Jets have the Chernobog, homing launcher, AA trailer, explosive rounds, and a vast array of other aircraft as counters. Not to mention they can’t be snapped into existence within a ten-foot radius via interaction menu, and they require skill to pilot. 

 

Armored vehicles like the Insurgent are dirt cheap and can be countered by each other as well as stickies, light weapons fire and heavy vehicles like tanks. Fast cars equipped with stickies are flimsy and can be torn apart with anything, really. 

 

The Mk.I and II, Deluxo and Thruster shouldn’t be lumped in with that crowd. The Mk.II especially, given that auto-aim is useless, snipers require a lucky shot, homing launchers are a joke, aircraft missiles zoom right past, aircraft themselves don’t have countermeasures, let alone 20 missiles worth and so on. A new big, clunky tank or some riot vehicles are not going to break the meta.

Suee it is so i sell in a public lobby by myself or with friends so no hypocrisy. Only hypocrits are those who dont want sandbox pvp in a sandbox pvp game.
