I mean I can see why people are upset. I would think R would want to release at the peak of the hype which imo has passed as we can see in this thread.

Hype turns into anger. Once fans get angry they start expecting even more out of the DLC thinking damn we waited all this time this sh*t better be good, then inevitably are just more disappointed when it finally drops and does not meet expectations.

which is exactly what happened with After Hours, at least for me.

it didn't help that I went and played The Ballad Of Gay Tony a week before After Hours got released either.

The Qabeta that represents a dlc is dropping, does that have a certain day/time it usually updates (past dlc's) or is it usually random?

If your old theory (that R* will create different lobbies for countries where gambling will be blocked, just like they did with rdr2) turns out to be true I think that would count as "messing with the old code", right? Issues with people trying to join old friends, bugs that allow people to bypass that block and stuff like that.

But tbh I still think they will just remove the ability to activate those gambling minigames from certain people and thats it. Adding couple different security measures (to make sure people won't bypass it) sounds easier than creating new kinds of lobbies after all this time. And if they would put all that work in creating those - Why not off radar lobbies? or lobbies with radar similar to rdro? People asked for that for years.

This make me remember the info drought we had for this game before it was released, they released 2 screenshots for GTAV in an Asked and Answered for Max Payne way back in 2012, 8 months after the first teaser for the game and the internet blew up.

 

Anyone remembers this? man this game has came a looooong way lmao

We are very busy working on the game! Everything is going well, but the game is a huge project. We should have more information and some new assets for you soon..

...We did, however, manage to sneak a quick screenshot out for you… it’s not much, but we thought it was pretty fun.

 



 

Then of course our art team said that no single shot could encapsulate the game properly, so they gave us another...

By Gods I wish a and hope you're right, but I'm not dying on the QoL hill anymore because I'm just to weary of R* for now...Have been for some time.

 

IMO the reason why this update is taking so long is because of legal matters regarding the gambling aspect of the update.

I would be willing to speculate that the reason the DLC is taking so long is because for once R* is doing very through QA testing on the Casino making sure people cannot cheat. Every loop hole and bug they can find is being stamped out so people cannot scam them and the Casino.

 

R* is onto something very lucrative here so they need to do it correctly, lets add digital crack (gambling) to a game that already makes us billions of dollars.

if been doing a fair bit of research on this qabeta thingy and this is what ive found out so far 

 

in the past (everything before AW) qabeta has updated about 2 weeks before a dlc comes out and we could tell in advanced the update was about drop 

 

but this changed with AW 

sometime in may 2017 qabeta 3 was added and the main qabeta updated on the morning of the update so as far as i can tell if we would have not had a trailer and release date for AW we would not have known the update was coming

A little bit unrelated to the DLC, I hope Rockstar address the major performance issues on PC and consoles. I have noticed the performance is only getting much worse with every new content update on GTA Online.

 

I found this video, it shows him playing single-player vs GTA Online performance on PC, you'll see how much the performance is downgraded while he plays GTA Online. He is getting half of the frame-rate and what is surprising this is happening if you're anywhere on the map. On the console side of things base Xbox One plays GTA Online at 20-25fps 80% of the time, however, Xbox One X (which has a slightly better CPU) plays GTA Online with minor dips.

They won't because they can't. It keeps happening because of the DLCs and I'm convinced that it will get worse with more updates. @Fun 2 have already mentioned how developers are re-using already existing scripts, thus bloating the game without any reasons. That's what he can see and that's just a fraction.

 

Considering the framerate, @Gaffa is a long-time enthusiastic PC player and he recently jumped from 6700k to 2700x with a faster RAM. Performance? No gains at all, even some minor drops here and there. And moi-même, beeen playing since 2017 I can definitely tell that while my hardware keeps getting better, my framerate is getting worse! I've seen better framerates on GTX 980 with 4690k then on 8700k with 1080 Ti now. Some time ago Online was the only game I played and I went crazy trying to eliminate sub 60-s drops in a populated sessions with multiple sales happening at once: no success. Can't even imagine what's going on on consoles, poor lads must be lagging crazy, but looking at the videos of @Arrows to Athens (the man is always in the action with tryhards raging around) I can estimate sub 30s easily.
