This will be the first update I don't purchase any vehicles for at least an hour or two after I first play it. I'm so excited to get into the casino and see what we can buy and what games we can play from the start.

I'm going to make sure when the update drops my friends are on with me. 

 

No way am I pulling up to the casino alone, im also going to buy a car to pull up in and then go on a major shopping spree

Love the hype. But I don't share it. Casino ? Pfft. New vehicles ? You mean like the last time, with new flags ? Don't care. Clothing ? When was the last time we got something cool ? MC ?

Only thing I can look forward are those small tweaks, like being able to call mechanic faster, getting few more garages or outfit slots, maybe new emote or two. In other words stuff totally unrelated to DLC theme.

Casino is just 100% boring for me. Especially the games.

Giving a jet with tons of armor and competent dogfighting capabilities overpowered explosive cannons is a recipe from disaster.

 

The only thing the B-11 Strikeforce needs are a buff on its rate of fire (the cannon itself it's fine, it just needs to fire way faster) and a nerf in both armor and maneuverability:

 

 

This way, it could fit the role of a close air support jet while being vulnerable against proper fighting jets, as it should.

Vehicles? Yes, slightly excited... but I'll wait for Broughy or someone to find whether they've been ruined with flags before purchasing. 

Clothing? Meh... I'll take it or leave it. I generally stick to one outfit and forget everything else anyway. 

Tweaks? If there's some balancing and/or appropriate nerfs / buffs, then this is something I'd look forward to. Anything to improve the gameplay (or preferably rein it back from Saints Row). 

Casino? I can't judge whether to be excited yet because we've been given very little idea of what to expect. If it's PvP, it's a nope. If it's soloable / PvE, I'll take a dip.

I think it's completely irrelevant whether the casino games are PvP or PvE tbh.

I hope it's PVP when it comes to card games and other things of that sort. PVE would kinda suck since this DLC could be bringing something that brings lot of players for the first time instead of constant killing each other lol

 

edit: turns out I was thinking of playing against other players in the casino and not actual fighting that apparently is what you meant

Same.  Every single lobby is a PvP sh*tfest.  We don't need more modes which force you into PvP.  The problem is not necessarily PvP itself, but the fact you're reliant on other people's participation.  Arena Wars is dead because people just don't play it anymore.  If it had PvE modes, I'd be playing Arena Wars a lot more just for fun.  But because of R*'s obsession with PvP because ITZ DA MULTIPLAYA GAME, they end up making these modes redundant.

the table games will most likely be exactly how they are in real casinos, player vs the house, though I do hope there is a high stakes poker room with PvP poker as well, that way both PvP and PvE crowds are happy

No I was talking about the table games.

But what difference does it make? In RDO, you may as well be playing against the AI, you would never know the difference if a real person was playing or not. There is no talking, and hands are automatically folded if you exceed the time limit (which is pretty short).

Arena Wars isn't dead. You can easily get full lobbies in seconds. Join on call through the phone. I've proved this multiple times. RDO poker isn't dead either.

I'd call it informed speculation. The 18th is BY FAR the most likely date it will drop right now. That's of course if they release it on a Thursday and not a Tuesday. If they are still keeping with the Tuesday updates (I doubt it) then the 16th would be just as likely. I'm going all in on the 18th though. Pun intended.

Because real players will look like clowns, use scummy/cheaty tactics to try and win, and leave when they're losing, which knowing R* will make you lose cash anyway.

 

NPCs won't.

 

Plus, after a month you'll be unable to actually play anything because everyone got bored and moved on.

 

PvE all the way.

I guarantee Texas Holdem will be PVP just like it is in RDR. Games like Blackjack and Roulette will likely be something you play with other players, just not against them since that's not how the games work. Texas Holdem will likely be the only game where players face each other.

that's why I said the one that would be PvP would be poker...  though the only poker tables in casinos that you play against other people are in a separate poker room, all holdem tables on the floor are player vs the house, so there will likely also be PvE holdem

I mean idk if you have seen the way R* customized cars, but they would probably make the NPC's look like clowns too lol.

 

Idk how you can really cheat in video game poker, maybe glitches I guess. Haven't ever ran across that though. 

 

And of course you can leave when you are losing. That's how these types of games work.

Great point. I could see them giving us the option which we would rather do. I'm just praying they don't restrict us from playing Texas Holdem with our friends like they do in RDR. That would ruin the update for me.

I just really want the table games to be a flexible and open as possible.

 

Allow us to play with friends in public games, let us choose between PvP and PvE, let us actually host games etc.

 

Like you said, having the same restrictions as RDO will really affect my enjoyment of the update.

Throwback to exactly one month ago today when we saw the first props appear.

I remember on July 24th last year, waking up at 4 AM to see After Hours drop.
I was so excited to discover all the new stuff in the game files. 
Almost as good as Christmas morning. 

That time is soon upon us again, and it will be so exciting.

Unfortunately, cheating in poker online is rampant; though it's not done through glitches or exploits, but rather collusion. People will get into party chats and the like with others and "team up" against other players. It's perhaps the reason why R* made it where you cannot join public Hold 'em games with friends in RDRO.

 

I have a feeling that whatever we see in GTAO will be much of the same or at such low limits that most won't bother. I just can't see them allowing too much money to exchange hands, but then again, it likely won't be game money at all, but rather whatever it is they decide to use for casino currency/credits.

 

AI opponents are laughable when it comes to poker though; they are arguably worse at the game than real people who play and haven't a clue as to what they're doing.

 

I'm trying to remain positive about the poker experience, but it's really difficult to emulate the experience when real money is not at stake. However, I do hope for tournament poker instead of only cash game poker. That would make a huge difference for me personally.
