No animals online...

I rode up and down the main river last night for 25 minutes.

I saw zero animals to hunt.

WTF?

Did you try and jump a session? Usually fixes it for me.

 

But admittedly there’s been plenty of animals for me lately, not nearly as bad as it was a few months ago before the last updates.

If I ever have any issues with animal spawns which is pretty rare post-update I do like the others said and change session. Fixes it every time.

It's an occasional glitch now and then, that can be fixed by changing sessions. Unlike the glitch Xbox One had...

Yes, it's been a lot better lately. Since October they slowly reduced the amount of animals to the point where the countryside was almost deserted and on top of that the value of animal parts and what you could get from them was dropping too. Then after the update we had lots of animals again. They must have realised they were making it really hard to make money. You still don't get as many animals parts as you used to but at least the place looks alive now.

Servers very funny/unstable last couple days, I’m getting wildlife but not seen either hideout/ambush/ help stranger and Stranger missions have now disappeared of map

I wish there were less animals to hunt BUT pay accordingly.  Make hunting more of challenge baiting/stalking etc. rather than running around blasting anything that moves BUT as I said, pay accordingly.

 

Anyone that's ever played The Hunter will know what I'm talking about.

They never reduced the the amount of animal spawns. And what do you mean you don't get as animal parts as you you used to? I only thing I noticed, with Herons for example, you only get one plume regardless of stars. I think Spoonbills, Cranes and Pelicans are only one plume also. Pretty sure you used to get more, at least foe a 3 star anyway.

They definitely did reduce the number of animals after some of the updates. Before the update a couple of months ago there was way less animals. It wasn't just my imagination because others mentioned it too. And yes I was thinking of Heron feathers.

Herons, Spoonbill, and the three species of Egret only give one plume. But you can shoot them down with whatever you want to, and get one plume from them. That's a good thing, considering that the Varmint Rifle is terribly inaccurate now.

It was the February 26th update that reduced the animal population.
That reduction was large and immediately noticed by even casual hunters.
Also that update nerfed the varmit rifle into, effectively, a completely different rifle.

The animal population has returned but things keep changing in hunting.
A recent update nerfed auto aim headshots on other players making it less easy to do.
Unfortunately that nerf has affected auto aiming on all targets including animals.
Animal and human targets that have become more bullet resistant are now also more difficult to hit.

I have no problem with animals spawning. My problem is with hideouts not spawning.
And yes i have tried changing sessions and no that does not work for me.

Had a similar situation in another game years ago. I killed the wrong npc and suddenly the world emptied out. No more npcs or other players as well. I seriously thought I broke the game. Then I looked at the clock and realised it was server maintenance time again

I'm not so sure they purposefully nerfed animal spawns, more so the game just completely degraded when it came to online, matchmaking, spawns, etc. February to the most recent update was a very bad time for the game.

I found animal spawns ok map wide except Bluewater marshes the gators and bird life was nuked big time and all came back at last update was amazing when it happened could believe they did an about turn like that

I'm certain the lack of animals in the February update was not intentional.

They fixed it for the most part and I have to cut some slack for Rockstar, a lot of people jump to conclusions because of an observation.

In this case animal spawns being intentionally decreased to arbitrary reduce the profit people make from hunting.

 

Not only is this getting into conspiratorial territory, in my opinion, after many people are set with their conclusion Rockstar simply can't win, no matter what they do.

Oh they changed/fixed it? They do it because of the backlash and to show how they care about the game.

 

It happened so many times with RDO already.

Ambient Occlusion was bugged? It was intentional.

They had the Beta tag so they can be lazy and will probably take years till they take it off.

And, and, and many more intances.

 

Everytime something goes wrong people immediately jump to conclusions and once Rockstar does something against that narrative the goalpost is moved.

I'm not saying Rockstar does everything good, because the don't, but that's no reason to be unfair.

 

So if we say "It got reduced" it already implies intent, but nobody here knows if it was.

I'm willing to bet that Rockstar knows that it most probably wouldn't be a good idea to reduce animal population to the point that the game gets a barren wasteland.

I have like 10x the amount of hours into this game than you and have been hunting since day one. I killed the same amount of animals in the same amount of time in both places I hunt, before and after the update. Take your conspiracy theory elsewhere.

One thing I can tell ya, I hunted there long before it became popular and the introduction of the daily challenges. The place used to be a ghost town. While everyone was watching YouTube videos on the best fishing spots and farming cops, I was making a sh*tload of money plucking plumes.

Yeah way back in February I think it was, if you dig back in the forums you'll see it mentioned over and over. The wildlife spawns were nerfed badly way back then. They fixed that quite some time ago, so it's no issue. Wildlife population is better than ever now, in fact it's too good but I'm not complaining lol.

Xbox and I know for sure the animal population was reduced, it's ridiculous to even think that it wasn't. 

Yes I'm level 20, my son who also plays on my home xbox in the living room in level 125 or so, my other son is level 85 or so and they both experienced the exact same issue during the same time period.

I'm no koolaid drinker buddy, I played the game every day since launch I know there was a time when wildlife vanished. Whether it was intentional I don't know, but it happened. You can deny it but don't throw insults.

Well I can't speak for Xbox. Actually to think it was nerfed is ridiculous. For what reason, to prevent someone from getting .1 gold? As far as the dozens of post, it's dozens of post by the same people with the same conspiracy theory. I can respect opinions if they're just that, but not when they're thrown out there as fact with no proof.

It's true that there were less animals on PS4 for a time, and that the herds (especially pronghorn, they're taking over now!) got significantly bigger in a recent update.

 

Whether it was intentional or not I couldn't say, but if I had to guess it was for stability purposes. If you didn't notice this send me some of your drugs thanks
