What is your current gaming backlog?

Red Dead Redemption 2 ruin gaming for me, almost every game I bought after this is on my backlog, one unfortunately example is Witcher 3... I really enjoyed the characters and story lore so far but for some unknown reason I stopped after reaching Novigrad, maybe it's the gameplay since it's my first rpg I don't know... Just like TheSantander25  said I want to finish it to understand more CDPR because I'm really hyped for Cyberpunk.

For me it was actually Witcher that "ruined" nearly every other game. But I've been really hyped for a Red Dead 2 PC version lately.

I don't have any gaming backlog. I'm thirsting for new games that would appeal to me.

It's so intriguing to me to hear these kind of opinions. For me personally, I couldn't really get in to Witcher or RDR2 at all. I find myself way more captivated with linear games. They were too overwhelming that I just lost interest.

I had the same with Divinity 2. Brilliant game (although story/characters could've been better), I really felt lost at some point. I would've had to consult a guide or sth. like that to progress. At this point it felt like work.

Witcher 3 was really straightforward compared to that (or should I say streamlined enough for me ... lol.) The amount of content can be overwhelming, but it never put me off since I because craved for every little sidequest. Right from the get go this game felt like sth. special to me, like a one in a generation game.

I couldn't get into Witcher 2 though because I had some frustrating experiences early on.

Metro Exodus

Shadow of the Tomb Raider

Resident Evil 2 Remake

I only play Fallout 76 and GTA Online lately, im mostly to lazy to play anything else, got these 3 games installed, and im a few hours into them sure, i made some progress, but that was months ago, i can't remember anything of it. In Resident Evil i was pissed by that big guy that just doesn't die, doesn't matter how many bullets you put into the brain, i was so pissed by that, and i mostly play stoned, and that guy is pure horror if your stoned. Well and Metro is kinda weird, i still don't know if i like the game or not. In Tomb Raider i just got into the first larger city type of places, not sure what it is atm, but yeah in that city kind of place i get heavy fps drops for some reason, i was pissed and stopped at that point.

I really should finish these games, so i can uninstall them.

Nothing wrong with waiting at all. I've actually been doing this myself more lately. I used to want to play everything immediately, but I kept seeing those same games I paid full price for on sale months later for much, much cheaper. It just pays off to be patient.

In other news, I finished Call of Duty: WW2 tonight. I really enjoyed the game overall. The campaign is pretty short like most Call of Duty games but it kept me engaged throughout. The story was good enough, and the cutscenes and characters were decent as well. I like how the cutscenes transitioned in to the gameplay, although it was a bit jarring sometimes. It has your typical War cliches, with douche characters like Sergeant Pierson, but it's still great.

I really don't see why people ragged on the Campaign overall, seen it a lot on other places. It's pretty much the standard I'd expect from an FPS campaign. In fact, I think this went a step ahead with varied missions, some stealth sections, some vehicle sections etc. It kept things fresh.

It's not that I'm patient per se. It just depends on my excitement level.

I really don't mind paying full price for games I'm very excited about. For example Cyberpunk 2077. If I could pay extra to get my hands on that game earlier, I would. But for most games I'm just moderately excited (like the ones I mentioned above). Those are the type of games that would make me wait for a price drop.

The only game I'm actually getting the remainder of this year is probably Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. Really like the look of everything I've seen. Plus if you're going to play a CoD you might as well get in with everyone else. Everything else I'm going to wait to go on sale probably. That is the only game that has sold me after seeing the gameplay, everything else I'm really tentative. For example, I want Death Stranding but I feel we haven't seen enough, I'm happy enough to wait a little bit.

ATM it's Life Is Strange 2. I got the 4th episode, but haven't played it yet. Hard to think the game released around this time last year and it still hasn't concluded yet. I think the final episode releases in December. Too long between episodes IMO and it kills pacing.

Much preferred the episode cycles of season 1.

Yeah, I'm not a big fan of episodic realeases. I'm glad I played Life is Strange 1 when the full season was already out. No waiting inbetween that would have killed my own interest. Happened to me with Hitman, which was a great game but the wait between the levels was too long for me.

To keep the thread going:

I'm currently working through Bioshock Collection which has been on my to play list for a long, long time.

I used to dislike episodic approach, but now when my gaming time is decreasing, I may get on board. It's easier to be done with the episode and get back to the game later, if the intervals are okay. I'm interested in Life is strange 2 too, maybe I should get the thing on sale later.

Might as well go in alphabetical order of my Steam library:

- Batman: Arkham Origins

- Borderlands 2

- Borderlands The Pre-Sequel!

- Enslaved: Odyssey to the West

- Metro 2033 / Metro Last Light

- Prototype

- Remember Me

- South Park The Fractured But Whole

- Sunset Overdrive

- Thief of Thieves: Season One

- Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales

- Vampire The Masquerade - Bloodlines

- Wolfenstein The New Order / Old Blood

- Yakuza 0

Currently playing Remember Me and Thief of Thieves. I'm itching for another New Vegas playthrough and I'm thinking of getting a racing game, probably Forza Horizon 4.

It's actually a really good game (though I prefer Max and Chloe to Sean and Daniel). Still worth a pick up.👍

Finally got around to playing Borderlands: Handsome Collection. So happy honestly. It was a game I struggled to get in to so many times, I literally tried to play it three times before it clicked with me. Weird how your taste/perception of games can change over time.

I'm in a weird spot now where I don't know what to play next after I finish the Collection, I really want Borderlands 3 but can't afford it right now.

I kind of want to finish off Fallout 4 and the DLC. I have the GOTY version and I never touched the DLC at all, and I'm in such a looter shooter type of mood.

Similar.  I just don't want to shell out full price for a Borderlands game.  I know it will hit gamepass or a good sale soon enough.  Related/unrelated - I should dig up the interesting article I read (maybe) last week.  Something like "the days of 60 dollar games are numbered".  Game subscriptions seem to be making more and more sense these days.   Normally I would shell out full price for Gears of War.  This go around I didn't...same with Forza Horizons.

My current backlog has Control added to it.  Still not sure I'll finish.

*got distracted with a fresh playthrough of Skyrim.

I'm worried if that's the case. I have nothing against these Game passes. Xbox in particular has a fantastic selection. My only issue with them is you're essentially 'renting' the games. You don't actually own them. Much like Playstation Plus. Your membership runs out, tough luck, no games for you.

I'd much rather have the game to play whenever I want. Although, I do like the game pass as an added alternative. I just wish PS4 had a better one, Playstation Now sucks.

Even things you physically own are not permanent.  You'll see...it happens to everything and everyone.  I can rant on but I'll try to be brief since this isn't gaming back log related.

I'll shorten my rant to one game related personal example.  I have a box of games in their cases - If I think to run down and get my phone I'll edit in a pic.  All full retail AAA titles since the beginning of CD roms.  Without spending hours f*cking around with DOSbox I'll never be able to play any of them.  And even if I do have a serious urge to play something 20 years old and fuss with all the sh*t needed to get it playable...it's usually only good for 1 visit for nostalgic reasons.

*In the closet behind me is a sh*t ton of retail games distributed on floppy.  I'll never be able to play them too.

Talk to anyone who has invested a sh*t ton of money in VHS movies.  Useless.  Lost money at this point.

Also...as you get older the price of frivolity seems to be more digestible.  To pay a few dollars for a fresh visit to nostalgia land is a thing.  Look at how fast people were buying those NES minis.

E:

Forgot to include my example of having to replace sh*t you own anyway,

When I first bought the movie Rocky I got the VHS, then I had to replace it with the DVD, then I had to replace it with a digital copy.  Even if you own something...it won't be around forever.

You're absolutely right Trip.

I collect all my games and even buy hard copies of old console games, I don't have the platform to play on. I don't know why. I was skeptical about getting digital downloads all time but now I mostly get digital copies, except for games like RDR2 where I like to own a hard copy. I've got 2 sacks of AAA titles for 360 and PS2 and they're just taking up so much space. But I don't think i'll ever throw them out.

Felt the same way. Something about the game is just boring. It's beautiful, the combat is fine, it's obviously packed with content but I just found it so hard to get engaged with it. I've played slow games before and been fine, but The Witcher's dialogue just really bored me.

Subtract about 35 from 296 and you have my Steam backlog. Not to mention the deals on GoG and all.

I love a good deal but don't always have the time. I'm slowly getting there... lol

Metal Gear Solid V

I need to finish:

Mad Max

Rise of the Tomb Raider 20 Year Celebration

I don't think I will ever finish Bloodborne.

Me: I'm just coming to the end of the seasonal event in Monster Hunter (with the next one coming at the end of the month), I've got to keep on top of unlocking exclusive cars in Forza, I'd like to use the time between Monster Hunter events to take a punt at grinding out the Outlaw Pass in RDO, and I've still got a half-finished run of Mafia III to complete at some point - not to mention all the stuff I snapped up in past sales that I really ought to find the time to play (L.A. Noire, Rise of the Tomb Raider, Life is Strange). And that's before considering that there's only a few months before the big 2020 releases start arriving...

Also me: *impulse-buys Black Desert Online*

  • Heavy Rain: Not saying it has a bad story, but I wasn't as hooked to it as I was to Beyond Two Souls, so I ended up ditching it. B2S gave me cravings for the next chapter, while Heavy Rain just felt a little too slow and boring for my taste. I also guess I felt a little confused of the constant switch between characters.
  • Life is Strange: I tried the demo of episode 1 and found the game pretty interesting, but I didn't want to spend my money on the remaining episodes. Eventually, I downloaded the whole game for free through PS+ but haven't got to play it yet. Like B2S, it fits the Summer evenings in the holiday house perfectly, so I might as well play it at that time then.
  • Call of Duty: Black Ops 2: My absolute favorite COD which I went prestige master in back in 2014 on my Xbox 360. Got it about 2 years ago on my PS3 and played for a while, but yeah - it certainly isn't the same as back in 2012 - 2014. Can't relive those days. I would like to play it again, but I can't get myself to it.
  • GTA IV + Episodes of Liberty City: Don't get me wrong: I love these games, as they made up my pre-teen childhood between 2010 - 2013 on Xbox 360. I chose to buy the whole bundle at GameStop a couple of years ago for my PS3, but I guess I actually bought them for the sake of nostalgia rather than the actual interest. I would love to play it again some day, but TBoGT's pause menu theme will probably make me wish I was 12 again 😞

also, miss Billy Russo 😞
