What is your current gaming backlog?

Thought this would be a good idea for a thread. We all have those games sitting in our library or on the shelf just catching dust. There was one time we wanted to play them, and they simply got passed over for other games. In this thread, I want you to name the games in your backlog that you want to play but haven't got around to yet. So basically don't name every game you have, as obviously you don't want to play every single game in your library. There's some I never finished, but for good reason, they either sucked or I just didn't get invested enough.

You can list them in any order, but I'm going to go by the games I want to play the most to the least in my Backlog, but I have interest in all of them:

1. Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy (Currently playing this)

2. Amnesia Collection

3. Metro Redux

4. Assassin's Creed: Ezio Collection

5. Fallout 4: GOTY (Played it on and off, never did everything.)

6. Call of Duty: WW2 (Campaign)

7. Deus Ex: Mankind Divided (Didn't grab me, but I want to give it another shot)

8. Infamous: Second Son

9. Bioshock: The Collection

10. Outlast (I pussied out)

As you can see, I have a big task ahead of me. Especially with games like Metro and Fallout which are big time sinkers. I want to try to get all trophies for these games if I can as well, or at least most of them.

The Witcher 3: Just didn't like the characters and not a fan of the whole vibe. But I'm gonna finish it before CP2077 because I want to have a vision of CDPR before that game comes out.

Thief(2014):The game sucked ass.

Saints Row 4: Once again, couldn't bother with the damn crazyness. I gotta learn and stop buying GTA clones that I don't like.

Beyond Two Souls: Got it for free because of PS Plus.

  • Dying Light: The Following DLC (I did the main campaign with my friend last year but we just never ended up doing the DLC)
  • Divinity: Original Sin 2 (I'm holding off on playing this until I can get a friend or two to play it with me)
  • Fallout: New Vegas (Played it for about 2 hours but I got overwhelmed. I'll probably go back to it one day)
  • Hitman Blood Money (Finished the tutorial level and because I neglected the game for months I forgot how to play)
  • Hitman 2 (2018) (I want to finish Blood Money first)
  • Tales of Symphonia (Played for about half an hour but I couldn't get into despite liking one of the later entries. I'll probably give it another chance in the future).

This list is in no particular order, though I'd say I'm the most interested in playing Divinity Original Sin 2 soon.

You should finish New Vegas if you can. It's a bit dated now, but it's still one of the best experiences I've ever had playing an open world game. So many choices. I can see you what you mean about feeling overwhelmed, I felt the same at the start. All Fallout games feel a bit like that for me, until your work everything out.

1. Amnesia: The Dark Descent - Can't find a good time to play it alone at night. Job vacation soon, so maybe.
2. ArmA 3 - Abandoned due the RP project i was playing at gone to sh1t.
3. DayZ - Abandoned due to lack of decent updates. Sitting here waiting for something good to drop out to catch my and my friend's attention.

4. Fallout New Vegas - This game is cursed. I attempted it 4 times and gave up on it. My last attempt was finished right before the dam mission.

5. PUBG - I used to play this bad excuse for a game with my squad, but we moved to Ghost Recon and totally forgot about it.
6. Team Fortress 2 - I don't even know what to start of.
7. Terraria - Abandoned. I wanted to solo an expert world and got owned by Plantera.

8. Crossout - Got wiped out by hover users.

I’m currently doing another play-through of the Witcher 3. If you are on pc you can pick Hearts of stone & Blood and Wine really cheap via Steam!

sh*t, I've straight up given up on a few titles I have on steam. The three games in my backlog that I do intended on finishing (or starting) are:

Katana Zero - Nowadays the only time I find myself playing my Switch is during downtime at my job. The game had a deeper story than I anticipated, so I decided I should play it when I can pay attention to it 100%.  I just haven't come around to it yet - I better hurry because My Friend Pedro is just around the corner.

Sekiro - I got a little burnt out with it halfway through, it can get mentally exhausting if you try to brute force your way through it. I'll pick it up again soon, though.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider - Haven't even started this one yet. It's the final installment of the "Origin" trilogy and I really liked the last two games, so I have to find some time to play this.

I have the Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days and it's DLC's and couldn't get through it because of the fast pass of it and shaky camera, making me  nauseated when I'd play it

I also have all three S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games, but they need a joystick emulator program like Pinnacle Game Profiler which I bought ten years ago for other games that are keyboard mouse only play that I had, the First Mafia game for the PC was  keyboard and mouse only, I had the DVDrom  and sense then lost or threw away my Mafia game  and haven't bought the steam version yet

I also have all three Metro game franchises from steam and stopped playing them because they too needed a  joystick emulator program

I don't know what it is, but I got so unbelievably bored of Witcher 3. I understand why people think it's a great game, but it just failed to keep my attention. I kept trying, and I just, it's hard to explain. Such a graphically awesome and well designed game, but just not that interesting to me.

I think I've come to learn that I prefer Linear games more often than not these days. It could be Open World burnout.

I'm still trying to figure out how I'm going to play the game but I'm hoping the game gives me the opportunity to double cross everyone. I think that would be fun to do.

1. Mafia III - about 1/3 of the way through everything (including DLC), loving it so far, only put it down to make some headway in Red Dead Online. As soon as I unlock enough stuff in RDO to be able to coast for a bit, I'll finish it off.

2. Monster Hunter: World - completed all the major stuff, but there's a few things (FF Behemoth, all the Witcher objectives, a couple of specific weapon/armour builds) I want to get done before Iceborne in September.

3. Mass Effect Andromeda - completed the first major planet, started the second, got a bit bored, honestly. It's not bad, but it's the sort of game where every alternative option is more fun.

4. A bunch of older backwards-compatible things (Mercenaries, Star Wars Battlefront 2, Metal Gear Solid 3, Knights of the Old Republic, Portal, etc.), where I've dipped back in, but I've played them before, so it's not hugely urgent I complete them now.

Then there's stuff on the 'shelf:

Hitman (2016)

Rise of the Tomb Raider

Life Is Strange/LiS: Before the Storm

Mirror's Edge

I've also got stuff given away for free that I'm not in any rush to play (Battlefield 1, for instance), and stuff I was enjoying, but is just broken to the point where I'll never be able to complete it (mostly Ubisoft stuff, curiously enough - Watch Dogs 2 and Assassin's Creed Odyssey). :(

Oh God, too many to name. It's a good topic and and one of contention for me. I've become a little too open-minded (for want of a better description) when it comes to games. I'll play anything once and give it ago. However, too much variety is causing me to not focus on one game for long enough and not completing it. And I might genuinely enjoy a game for 30+ hours and then I hit the 50 hour mark or less and I burn out on the game.

Too many mention but I'll list a few that still play on my mind a bit.

  • Ghost Recon: Wildlands
  • Hitman
  • Mass Effect: Andromeda/Mass Effect Series
  • Forza 7 and Horizon 2 and 4.
  • The Witcher 3 - It's a gem for many people but I couldn't love it like I love Skyrim. I still had wow moments with TW3, most memorably the story of the botchling. A beautiful game but didn't like some things that I just love that come from Bethesda - could be just that the map is one open world in Skyrim. I felt there was too many icons on the map in The Witcher. It kept reminding me I'm in a game. Whereas the compass in Skyrim is a nice touch. I think I was more impressed walking between the mountains and seeing the rivers in Skyrim than I was with TW3. It's all shallow and surface stuff (I know). I TW3 obviously excels better at other stuff like making the missions less repetitive, real consequences etc. Maybe it's the lack of customization in The Witcher. I felt I was more role-playing in Skyrim. I'm not arrogant to say one game is better than the other. I guess I just prefer one over the other. Both enjoyable. Both quality games.
  • Wolfenstein: The New Order
  • Metro: Last Light
  • Life Is Strange
  • Halo Series
  • Fallout: New Vegas
  • RDR2

Would love a month off just to play some games all day! :D

I actually made a pact with myself to be more choosy with my games to avoid building up these backlogs. I can feel myself getting less and less excited for some titles that are in the 3rd or 4th in an series which helps.

@Billy Russo I completed Deus Ex: Mankind Divided. I'd give it another go. I put it down for a long time and then picked it back up. It's not too long and quite enjoyable.

Thanks!

I'm definitely going to give it another go. The first time I bought it and I ended up selling it to get other games, but then they added it on PS Plus so I've had it sitting in my library for a while. I think it helps not to go in expecting it to be Human Revolution, when it's a bit of a step back.

It's not to everyone's liking, no. It's more or less the world that draws me in as well as a good story, you'll find yourself doing a lot of backward and forwards quest tracking (detective work) type of quest-lines which that's also what gets me excited about Cyberpunk 2077! Ya know? those that make you explore every nook and cranny of the world.

Not to mention, the side quests in The Witcher 3 are very detailed and rich in content i believe any way.

I've still not got around to doing Hearts of Stone and Blood & Wine yet.

That's really not bad at all considering they are all pretty newish releases. It annoys me looking over my trophy list on PS4 because I have some games I got a couple of trophies for and quit, there's so many games like that. I just stopped playing for no reason.

Bit of an update: I've played Amnesia Collection (100% and Platinum Trophy) & Outlast (Main Story) I said HELL NO to Insane Difficulty, I also beat a neat little puzzle game called The Swapper to 100% that was surprisingly awesome.

Those were fun games. Amnesia was actually tough to get all the trophies for, but I eventually got used to the pathing and enemy patterns.

I tried playing through Crash Bandicoot but it just pissed me off, maybe I'll go back and try 100% it one day.

Currently playing through Bully and getting the Platinum. This is kind of my "break" game because I've played it before on PS2, and the trophies are easy. Might do Metro Redux after this or Deus Ex.

Thanks to GTA V Online and Skyrim consuming most of my gaming time for the last hundred years or so, other games do tend to get unplayed, or played sporadically.

Tomb Raider (PS3) - played a few hours recently to remember the controls.  Definitely want to finish it before the year ends.

Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning (PS3) - Awesome game, cool story and world, love the combat.  But Skyrim won't leave me alone.

Dragon's Dogma (PS4) - Played a bit of the PS3 version, then decided to do another play through of Dragon Age: Origins.  Remaster is collecting dust.

The Witcher 3 (PS4) - Barely even started.  Probably would have to restart in order to do the combat tutorial again.

Rise of the Tomb Raider (PS4) - Can't start this before I finish the other.

Monster Hunter World (PS4) - Haven't even started.

There are several other games I can't think of right now.

The number of great games I currently have collecting dust on my shelf is shameful. I really have to allocate my spare time better to get to playing some of these as soon as possible before this list expands even more:

Detroit: Become Human (free with PS Plus; haven’t started yet)

Monster Rancher 2 (old PS1 game from my youth; grew frustrated with constant setbacks)

Shadow of the Colossus HD (finished the story, but have been too lazy to master Time Attack mode)

Borderlands 2 (been unable to find a reliable second player for co-op)

God of War (borrowed from a friend; never even installed)

The Witcher 3 (borrowed from the same friend; never installed either)

Red Dead Redemption 2 (bought around New Years; unsure if I completed Chapter 1)

Tropico 5 (free with PS Plus; so much time has passed, I’d probably just begin a new save)

Mass Effect: Andromeda (bought at launch; perhaps too awful to ever resume at this point)

I ended up playing through Life is Strange after Bully. Actually surprised by how much I enjoy it, the story is great. Granted, there is some cringe moments and dialogue, but the story makes all of that sort of vanish. I like how much you can interact with everything and talk to people, and the choices are good.

If I had to pick out of that list it would definitely be God of War. Absolutely amazing game.

I sliced a bunch off the list I know I either won't get to, or don't want to spend the extra hundreds of hours trying. That said, this is what remains, and I've been making good headway on most fronts.

-Spider-Man

-Odyssey

-RDR2 (2nd playthrough)

-Inquisition

-Tales from the Borderlands

-Hyperlight Drifter

-Destiny 2 (season pass content)

-Yakuza 0

-Breath of the Wild

That's only about a third of what I started with. I had an impulsive few years...

Absolutely not f*cking worth it. A massive stain on Todd McFarlane's otherwise phenomenal creative track record--and not his fault either. The thrust and progression were horribly designed, and much of the plot was poorly executed

I'm going to be playing through Call of Duty: WW2 on Veteran soon. Just downloading it today. I actually really enjoyed this game but never got much time to play it. I'm kind of over Black Ops 4, it's not a very good game. Really fancy playing through a good Band of Brothers style campaign.

Red Dead Redemption 2 ruin gaming for me, almost every game I bought after this is on my backlog, one unfortunately example is Witcher 3... I really enjoyed the characters and story lore so far but for some unknown reason I stopped after reaching Novigrad, maybe it's the gameplay since it's my first rpg I don't know... Just like TheSantander25  said I want to finish it to understand more CDPR because I'm really hyped for Cyberpunk.

Funny you mention this.  I didn't have CoD WWII on my list but...  I finally hunkered down last weekend and finished it.

I'm not a CoD multiplayer person and I just pick them up for their short campaigns.

I'm going to say I really enjoyed the campaign and story for WWII.   Probably the best put together CoD story to date.

One of these daysim going to circle back for Metro Exodus.

Yeah, it's actually really awesome. I'm on the 4th Mission right now and it basically feels like I'm watching an extended WW2 war movie. The graphics are great, and Josh Duhamel is actually pretty damn great in his role. Never been huge on him on an actor, but you can actually feel his passion in this.

It's the first CoD Campaign in a while that has made me feel emotion.

Edit: Forgot to mention I'm doing it on Veteran difficulty which is a fun challenge. No where near as hard as the past CoD games on that difficulty though, thankfully. Feels more balanced.
