Foxwolfe
I don't mind it but personally I'm selective about it. I currently have both of my cattlemans in full gold with ivory handles as I like the look of it but none of the other revolvers work as well in gold for me. None of my guns except my cattlemans have any gold actually, all the rest are a mix of nickel, black and blue steel. I think it can get kinda gaudy if overdone though. Assblaster
Too much is no good for me; in fact I don't like my guns to shine at all, I prefer blue/black metals mostly. But a little gold trim looks good on certain guns, imo. Ronin Ogami, The Dedito Gae and Nyraider77

DeadEyeAdler
Nothing against anyone who uses them, though I do prefer to go for a more traditional style myself. Gold is overrated IMO. ALifeOfMisery, Rokushakubo and The Dedito Gae
BUT THE BENZ
yeah not that big a fan of golden guns neither...fully blacken-steel'd both my schofields back in the days and besides...dual golden guns....f*ckING expensive! Stupidis

slohbur
I had golden guns in the first RDR MP, so I'm just keeping the tradition alive. Karlitoz-E and Pumpkin Zone
Pocket Fox
I always find gold cosmetics to be bland, and over the top. I prefer gunmetal or nickel. Stupidis, Ronin Ogami and Kremita
LooseCanon
I did one gun because I was bored and had loads of gold, but then thought just one looked stupid so I did them all, now they all look stupid and shiney. Daleificent
I'll run with gold engravings, but I can't stand a full gold weapon. Black metal, a nice dark varnish for the wooden stocks/grips except for my schofield which has a pearl grip. I'll throw a gold trigger or bolt on a weapon if I feel like it'll accent the engravings more, but otherwise meh. I'm trying for a nice combo for silver engravings over gold, but nothing pops out at me. Nyraider77
ALifeOfMisery
Each to their own and all that, but the all gold gun look isn't for me. I went down the route of looking up each guns real world inspiration and customizing my guns to match. Assblaster
Shiny (nickel-plated) guns reflect sunlight from a distance and the flare can give away your position just like a mirror, which is bad for bushwhackers (outlaws and lawmen alike). Even so, they were sometimes preferred over blued finish because nickel resists gunpowder corrosion better. There were no all-gold guns lol. Nickel came out in 1860 and stainless steel in the next century. There were brass parts on some rifles, but not gold. Foxwolfe
Oldsport
for my weapons i got inspiration from battlefield 1 skins but for the repeaters i looked up pictures of the actual guns and made them look the same. as for gold on other people guns, dont really care as u cant really see their guns

I'll make the receiver/frame of a lever action gold, since that looks appropriate. Otherwise, I don't like most firearms all golded out. Some gold accent is fine and gives a gun a "custom made" appearance. But I prefer black in this game. My biggest gripe is that brass, nickel, silver and "blue steel" all look wrong. Tarnished, or wrong color. So I end up going mostly with black. Edited June 16, 2019 by RayD70 Ronin Ogami
Jason
Looks bad when used for anything but small parts of the gun or engraving inlays. Brass looks miles better though and is much cheaper. The Dedito Gae, Assblaster and Gray-Hand
Foxwolfe
Yeah I spent 45 gold doing up both my cattlemans (the off hand has the hammer still in iron so I could easily tell them apart early on) which was a little rough in the beginning, only was able to afford it due to R* giving us gold and my willingness to buy the $5 one time price for 25 gold, the only time I'm allowing myself to purchase gold from the store lol. It's funny though cause all my other revolvers are all full nickel with ebony handles, really enjoy that look for the handguns as they're so much smaller I feel like the details get a little lost when I do them up fully in black or blue steel. My longarms on the other hand are mostly black/blue with nickel highlights (frame only typically for me), enjoying that look so far. Winonas
Pearl handles yes, love it. Gold however just seems way over the top imho and I have saved my for only performance upgrades. Been upgrading to nickel on my LeMat’s components one part at a time when the daily challenges call for it. IamCourtney
Gray-Hand
Not really in keeping with the game’s rustic aesthetic.
Clickalot
Dont like a fully gold weapon, but I have my triggers of my schofields gold. Thats it..hardly noticable. My LeMatts are authentic. No customisation at all, only the varnish is applied
Gray-Hand
All of my weapons are that brown coloured metal with baroque etchings in black. Longarms have chocolate stocks, handguns have pearl handles. I might switch out the pearl.
