3 Things You Would Change

Recommended Posts

~INDIO~
Posted (edited)

What are the 3 main things you would change or like to see improved?

1. Improved Cattleman power. 3 or 4 shots to kill someone with this weapon is absurd.

Also, give us the¬†Colt Navy 1851/61. It's a¬†western, what are you doing Rockstar..?ūüôĄ

NO ONE wants those sh*tty, ugly ass pistols. WE WANT REVOLVERS.

2. Repeated ambushes in ambush locations/more repeatable & FUN random events (I really do not want to see that Mexican bird shooter anymore, or the horse racing weirdos. Snore.)

3. More side activities. Bounty Posters and Stagecoach robberies were gone before you knew it. I guess that's just so they could leave it all for online insteadūüôĄ in 2027

1. Guarma, I was thinking the other day. What if R* implemented this chapter as the prologue? Similar to North Yankton of GTA V... And the chapters would go like this;
Prologue - Guarma
Chapter 1 - Blackwater
Chapter 2 - Colter
And so on...

2. Epilogue been separated from the main story. Sometimes I wish the credits roll after whatever ending you chose (Arthur looking at the sunset) and we get to keep playing as Arthur, some games do that (Far Cry 3) so in that way we finish everything we left behind. As for the Epilogue... well could been release a few months later with more attention to detail like John's og hair lol, etc.

3. Not meant to be selfish because I know some folks really enjoy the Online version but R* should haved skip this mode for this game and kept it as a solid single player just like The Witcher 3, Spider-Man...

Just some personal thoughts, I mostly love the game as it is.

1. Cut Guarma and replace with chapter of Arthur in NA.

2. An actual reason to earn money and do robberies. I wouldn't actually be against level gating here, so that you had to partake in more gang-like activities in order to progress; perhaps we lose everything at the beggining and have to create the camp from scratch.

3. A frontier town in the grizzlies and for more missions to take place there post prologue.

1. Being able to skin horses and dogs and shoot your own horse.

2. Drastically improve the law and wanted system.

3. Unlimited bounties and stagecoach robberies.

1. A better honour system, if I've robbed and killed everything in my path, catch release fishing and speaking to that deluded nun SHOULDN'T put my honour back to 100, there should be a limit. If you kill over, idk, 300 innocents you'll never receive max honour. That would actually make you think about your actions and give them some weight

2. Better rewards for honour. Why the hell did RDR1 do this better even though it doesn't make sense to be an outlaw in the game. High Honour should make it that no one reports your small crimes, shops give you discounts, you get given more good guy random encounters and of course the good ending. Low honour should give you better payouts at the fences, more bad guy encounters, better loot from robberies, and no one reports big crimes that you've committed.

3. The robberies in free roam. They're all overly scripted crap, the house robberies, Alden's Stagecoaches, just all of them. I would've had that discouraged clerk in every state and had their tips be infinite, like the bounties in RDR1. And I'd also have it so if you help a criminal they'll give you an actual tip like "there's a Stagecoach passing through Cumberland Forest with wealthy passengers on board", or "there's a guy in a grey suit in front of the tailor's that's carrying a lot of money"

Also train robberies, they're all so sh*t. Some guy on Reddit had a pretty sweet idea, as soon as you rob the first passenger (or blow the safe, whichevers first) a timer begins until the law shows up, this changes depending on the state, ambarino being the longest and lemonye being the shortest. Much better than law men appearing instantly.

1, The first change would be the bullsh*t that is the replay mission system. The very least I'd do is allow us to use our progress earned carry over into replays.

2, Mexico would be a playable part of the game. If, big if, but if DLC comes, there's still plenty of good ideas out there.

3, Agreed with others, stuff like a larger selection of bounties and robberies and such. Just to give the game more for after story for those not keen on online.

1) Shooting. The reliance on autoaim is uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh and freeaim in the game is uhhhhhhhhhhhhh with a controller.

2) Missions forcing weapons on you. When I get given a shotgun when we're breaching iforgothisnames mansion in St Denis, I ended up with two shotguns for the rest of the mission. The sniper mission in Van Horn is also another. Let me play those how I want.

3) Improved repeatable things like bounties and robberies.

What annoys me most about autoaim in this game is that you finally get behind some cover after leaping automatically over it 5 times, and then you pop out and target a guy 100 yards away instead of the fella about to execute you with a knife

Not sure about #1 lol

However 2 and 3 - absolutely - especially stagecoach because they are so generic.

Bounties would require more work to have the same quality of the ones we did get.

1. The ability to sit down, on any chair, or any ledge, or any wall, anytime

2. Having a little chair to sit on while fishing

3. Cigars that actually last a few minutes, you know, you smoke them, rather than just take a puff and chuck ‚Äėem away

I'd honestly be fine with bounties the same as RDR1. Just give us the choice to bring them in alive or dead and put a name on a poster.

I forgot to mention that I'd definitely tweak enemy accuracy aswell, they can hit you 9 times out of 10 and it takes the fun away having Arthur squeal and shout through every gunfight

1. Kill off more characters. They had an opportunity for every gang member who wasn't in the first game to go out dirty dozen style but most of them survived. Was there any reason for Reverend Swanson to survive? Trelawny? Pearson? Even some of the girls. It would have added so much more emotional weight to the game.

2. Fix the writing. The dialogue in this game could be really awful at times, everyone is always stammering for no reason, nobody can get their words out properly. I guess they were trying to make it sound more natural but it had the opposite effect.

3. More character development for your fellow gang members. The game leaned way too heavily on missable camp interactions for that kind of thing. I think there should have been at least three personal missions for every gang member where we get to learn more of their backstory and get a sense of their perspective on how things are going with the gang.

I really loved this game but there are so many other things I would change.

Yeah the stammering was pretty annoying, they stopped what they were saying all the time like they had constant brain farts.. just get to the point!!

That would really make the game play experience different for low or high honour.  Good idea.

It was important for some of the characters to abandon the gang when things turned to sh*t because it emphasises how commited Arthur was to the gang.  If they all go out in individual blazes of glory, it makes Arthur’s sacrifice less extraordinary.

I would:

1.  Make the wanted system comprehensible.

2.  More bounties and more discouraged men missions.  The bounties don’t have to be as heavily scripted as the ones we have now.

3.  Make cigars and cigarettes last longer.

there i fixed it for you. seriously though pistols are the best. every time i replay the story. once i unlock the semi auto pistol i never use a revolver again. even when i play on my main game all i use is the mauser and semi auto pistol for sidearms. i really hope they add the high power pistol from red dead redemption 1.

okay so back on track this is my list.

1. take out all that extra realistic crap. like cleaning your gun, bonding with horses and falling off them and go back to the red dead redemption 1 hunting system.

2. make micah a more likeable character. honestly and im sure i will get hate. but micah is my favorite character. and its such a shame so many people hate him. so instead just have molly stay as the rat. and dont have him possibly kill arthur.

3. add more things to do in ambarino. and add a town or two up there. it has been said a lot how underused ambarino is. there is not even a active town up there. so they should have had more things to do up there. and definitely have some towns. one in both grizzlies.

They won't add the high power pistol becuase it wasn't even out at that time. And it's a western, we have enough sh*tty clip guns in all the thousands of modern games

actually they can add the high power pistol because the epilogue is set in 1907. so they could have made it unlockable in the epilogue. also i dont get your hate for pistols. whats wrong with them. and dont forget there are plenty of revolvers in modern games too.

1.id replace guarma with mexico so that instead of getting stranded in guarma, the gang gets stranded in mexico

2.make the gang more ruthless outlaw and not a darn traveling caravan

3. make the game less scripted. it makes it hard do more than one play throughs

I agree with everything and the caravan part made me laugh.

And yes I can’t see myself doing a second playthrough either as the story was meh and the missions were even worse, too scripted like you said!

last time i tried to replay, i kept failing missions because of straying off the path literally. the mission where u leave the grizzlies and go to horseshoe overlook, i went off the path for 5 seconds and it said the mission failed because i left the path like wtf. in gta iv in the intro mission u could go around the whole area before going back to roman apartment and u wont fail. ALSO, a even bigger flaw is the first mission with eagle flies, where u go to that cornwall oil field, i snuck past all the guards climbed the ladder to get to the window but it failed me and said "the files were destroyed". YET the game wants u to sneak and get caught and get into a big shootout and the files wont be destroyed? but if u sneak somehow they destroy the files that quick ? smh

1.Guarma is replaced with New Austin.

2.More freedom in missions.

3.Arthur kills Micah and the Epilogue is far shorter.

Aah yeah, Mexico is a good shout. Or just NA and Mexico!

R* games are heavily scripted. Especially missions. I don't get why people are surprised here. Where they offer freedom is in free roam, not missions.

There may be a case for R* evolving?

Kindof but not total freedom. It was more that your approach was sometimes more open. GtaV and rdr2 got very linear in this way.

Anyway don't get me talking about GTAIV, I love that game¬†ūüėć

Other than the odd NPC, and maybe Kieran, I don't really remember this happening. There are a lot of linguistic anachronisms in the game that bothered me, though. Short rests between sentences or thoughts isn't really stammering. It's not like GTAV where everyone is a fast-talking cartoon character.

The key to brilliant mission design is freedom + uniqueness. IV had freedom but the missions were similar for the most part. V had uniqueness but lacked freedom.  San Andreas had both.

1. Unlimited Bounties (Gives John something to do)

2. Make New Austin look more like 1907 instead of 1899

3. Even though I loved Guarma, I wanted more. So I would make it longer, a few hours longer.

And RDR2 didn’t have any of it unfortunately, in fact it’s probably the most linear game Rockstar has ever released. Also it has the most pointless chapter/string of missions or whatever you want to call it - Guarma
