However, it's very unlike GTAO; I still often get random messages here and there, depending on what I'm doing. I also don't listen to voice chat either unless I forget to turn down the volume; based upon what I have heard though, I'm definitely not missing very much! Danish Crusader Posted June 13, 2019 Share Posted June 13, 2019 (edited) I got a lot of those emotion thingie-ma-bobs at one point when I was riding a donkey through Valentine, and I was offered a fish too. Then after I turned it in, someone else thought it would be a good idea to try and kill me and take my donkey that I had borrowed without permisson. They died to a pair of Sawed-Offs, then I got more emotion thingie-ma-bobs from the fishgiver fo defending my poor donkey. I rarely get anything that isn't trashtalk from some griefer who started a fight and lost miserably sadly. Sending messages isn't all that quick or easy in RDO, and you are vulnerable while you are sending it, so I bet that is why it is a rare thing. I jump on a rock and pull out my Bolt Action, but nothing is charging me. Hear the growl again and turn, seeing a bear knock some random guy down. I aim, kill the bear, and make a quick departure from the area. A few minutes later a message notification pops up. I check it... "Thanks for saving me from the bear..." Sat down with them at the table and then another posse joined so we were all just merrily drinking together. A week ago I spawned into Valentine with my friend, first thing we came across was another player joyfully giving us the finger repeatedly, so I waited for him to turn towards my friend and then I calmly burrowed an axe into his skull from behind. Sorry for being slightly OT. The fact that there’s no in-game messaging makes it so much less toxic. And then most tryhards have their profile set to not receive messages from strangers, so often when trying to write something (be it kind or nasty), PSN just won’t let you. I’m never on game chat. One problem though is that sometimes it could be a good thing to be able to communicate more easily with other players. For example if you accidentally have shot them. I disabled it on GTAO years ago because of how toxic it can become, but yeah, when it’s not toxic or filled with inaudible screams and general noise it can be a great tool for communication too.
