The furthest I got in San Andreas when I really gave it a red hot go was up to Las Venturas in like 2014. I mean yeah I know I bash San Andreas A LOT, but I can't say I only played the game once and threw it away. In all my previous attempts I just came to the same conclusion I always have. It's not for me. It's not that I don't understand the story...I just don't think it's that interesting so I don't see much point trying to force myself to like something I really don't. I think with a game like TLAD it's easier to take in because of being much shorter so even if you don't like the biker stuff all that much there are other things about it that give you a chance to grow towards. Even if I liked San Andreas as much as most people do on this forum it's a long game and there are other (newer) games I'd rather be playing. Just the way it is bro. god speed
I started a new playthrough (without mods) and I've been enjoying it so far. Some thoughts: -The story in the beginning is pretty good though I haven't reached the FIB part yet. There are a few small cool details I hadn't noticed, like when Amanda was caught shoplifting this time I refused to help her and she threatened Michael with a lawyer's fee. -The car handling is fine I think. Taking turns especially at slower speeds is still kinda too arcadey IMO, but it can be pretty intense to keep the car in control at high speeds. It's fun to tap Franklin's power to gain speed boosts. -The missions are sort of linear, but the order of story missions is surprisingly flexible. Like I didn't know it was possible to do The Long Stretch after Trevor's Sandy Shores missions. Although my opinion on the game hasn't taken a complete 180 turn, the campaign is better than I remembered from my last playthrough. GinsengElixir
Seriously considering playing V through on X1X alondside IV. I would ordinarily do a PC run but my machine is going to be out of use for next month and I can't be bothered with mods right now anyway. I know I'll still be wishing the gane were something else but nostalgia is creeping up on me and I can't be bothered with RDR2 anymore. I need my Rockstar fix. NULL AND VOID
I started a new campaign to make gold on all the missions... Stopped after the 3rd one because it took me 5 tries. I thought all the objectives had to be in one shot which was crazy. And I was failing the mission moving too fast. I'm thinking HOW IS LAMAR ABANDONED.. He's a grown adult...like 100ft behind me.. It was just so annoying. I'm real good at this kind of thing. I call it "GTA Luck" Can't win for losing... We'll see how it goes. I just like how much is available to me online. And I don't have to see Franklin!

LittleJesus
I'm on my 7th playtrough right now. Just did the Fame or Shame mission and I'm in like 32%, there's a lot of hidden dialogue when you hang out with friends the problem is that friend activities are very limited. Lioshenka
Still do, yes, stuck at about 87%. The game is such a bore, but I managed to beat GTA IV and that gives me confidence that one day I will beat GTA V too! Played On-line twice: when I first got the game to see what it was like (it was rubbish) and then again to see Cheburek in it's full digital glory. I'm thinking it might be due to my gameconfig, but I've tried my own custom one and the other two really popular ones on GTA5Mods. Nothing fixes the issue. Most edited gameconfigs uploaded on gtav mods (or any other site for that matter) arent properly tested in SP campaign, which leads to glitches sooner or later. Its a very sensitive file to touch which is why i personally never bothered. Try using the stock file and removing some addons, and see if it works On topic: I play almost daily. I enjoy the post-story experience (i still have some S&F missions to go) but i RP as post-heist retired men. Using some mods to keep the game alive (!). I dont like replaying the story many times. I only did it 2 times and still play on the last save where i finished the story two years ago. Edited August 4, 2019 by gunziness
cp1dell
It’s been a while since I have, and I want to, but I’ll have to reinstall some mods to fix the dumb things Rockstar were too lazy to do. I also kind of want to wait until @HeySlickThatsMe finishes his Nightclub mod/GTAO port so I’ll have more incentive to play. Bow that I’m thinking about the story though, my favorite part will always be the beginning up to when Trevor gets to Los Santos, before starting Fame or Shame. Up till that point the setup was great. Really wish Trevor would have played out as more of an antagonist to Michael like Dan Houser said he would before the game was released. If you’re not familiar, there was an interview where he described GTA V’s story and switch mechanic being interesting basically because you would be switching to one character who serves as an antagonist to another playable character, and visa-versa. Unfortunately what we got was secretly dumbed down the minute Trevor walls through the door, and by the fact that you have the useless third character thrown into the dynamic. A story more focused on Michael and Trevor, with them not necessarily being on the same side would have been a lot more interesting and a pretty cool dynamic. I could see a finale where you switch to one of them for the last time, determining who survives. Makes me wonder if there was a different version of the story before, considering that beta cutscene dialogue for Fame or Shame where Trevor seems a lot more intimidating, and the cutscene itself has a more serious tone. eejyool, El Penguin Bobo, NightmanCometh96 and 2 others
ChenChanechi
When i'm bored I play the storyline. I have a unofficial savegame from Franklin & Lamar lol, it has that mission with silver medal, imo it's easy as f*ck to get gold medal. Once I scratched the Rapid GT (Aston Martin replace in my game) on the side as f*ck and I still got no damage medal. It's fun to play sometimes, but I dunno, playing 8 missions feels like you already did lots of missions, man, I don't know.. I finished the game 15 times already. 5 times in 2013, 2 times in 2014, 8 times in 2019. I love the game. El Penguin Bobo
Ryo256
I tried playing through the single player, for I believe, the 6th time but some of missions just really makes it annoying like how I failed the mission for.....'accidentally' running over the asian guy (Cheng Jr?) in Crystal Maze mission and it also failed it if you don't complete the gasoline trail (which involved missing just one dot in the basement after you done it all the way outside). The amount of streamlined and restrictive scripting involved in this game is just killing the joy of story mode for me, I just gave up as soon as Trevor reached Los Santos. Ended up loading my old save where I only had Michael and Franklin alive with a billion dollars. Gonna just roam around the city when I feel like it. Playing the story all the way through again is just not worth it for me. Maybe replay a few of my favorite missions. Shame since I finished SA and IV over 15 times already. I agree about the amount of pointless restrictions on freedom in the game but in Crystal Maze there is a little bit of room for variation at least, you can throw sticky bombs in the basement room, leave the house and detonate and skip the gasoline trail altogether if you want. You can also try detonating it when you're in the basement or elsewhere in the house - it eventually reaches every part - and enjoy being in the explosion (particularly good if you activate Trevor's special ability first as the very violent explosions just carry on until it runs out lol). Problem is that sticky bombs aren't available to Trevor until he reaches the point where he puts them on the Lost's trailer park if I remember correctly. But yea I can see myself trying this when I replay this mission through the replay option. Thanks for the tip. Ahh that's a shame, would've been cool if the mission had been slightly less linear in that way when playing the story through. I must've just done it replaying. I guess if you want to blow yourself up with the house for fun you can still shoot stuff/start fire in the room after activating the special ability and that will also set it off (although it's extra amusing if you have sticky bombs so you can do it from another room further away because then you have to wait a few moments for the explosions to reach you and can hear them approaching). I find it a particularly amusing way of dying haha With V rather than replaying the campaign a lot (although I still did just because I like living in the different locations and the between mission phone calls and hanging out etc) I would usually replay missions from the menu. I think the medal objectives were done well, unlike in TBOGT (where I don't even bother with them as they're annoyingly difficult and boring) you can complete each part one at a time, and some of them are quite creative/interesting and not just the standard time, accuracy etc. It's cool because it means you can replay the missions in a different way with a different goal each time, first maybe a speed run, then headshots, then that particular random thing it asks you to do etc. For me it made up for the lack of freedom in missions a little bit, added some replay value. god speed
Crystal Maze can be completed by throwing a grenade in the basement and running quickly outside, sticky bombs aren't necessary. Here's a video that showcases it: Spoiler I wish there were more open-ended missions like this. El Penguin Bobo
Thought I might give this thread a bump since V's 6th anniversary is coming up next week. I have replayed the campaign for a little challenge for myself. I must only play in first person, with no map or HUD, and can only play in free aim. Along with that, I must only play with "Complex" targeting system, (makes shooting more difficult since it gives more bulletspread), and screen kill effects are off. You guys should try it, it's fun for a new playthrough. Dryspace

The first-person mode is a primary reason that I decided to pick up GTAV after reading about the PC version and being impressed with screenshots that I found. At first, I thought I was unfortunately going to have to go third-person due to non-optimal control and interaction. But after switching to TP, I decided to give FP another shot, and eventually I got used to it. It's not that it's terrible, it's just that it's nothing like a proper purpose-built first-person perspective. In the end, the first-person perspective is of course tacked on, and not as fully integrated as it should be, but it completely transforms the experience. When a game is as detailed, immersive, and overall realistic as GTAV, first-person is the best way to take in and appreciate the world. Especially right up close to a very large display, with a suitably increased FOV. Edited December 18, 2019 by Dryspace El Penguin Bobo

As for myself, I just recently finished my playthrough, went back to messing with mods in freeroam and currently I'm replaying GTA IV. But at some time later I will do another GTA V playthrough and I might give a full first-person view playthrough a go.
