Not currently but I did a playthrough just last year and really enjoyed it, for me the game is aging really well and I like it more now than I did at release. Sadly GTA V has been overshadowed by the Online garbage. If Rockstar delivered some quality SP DLC's and GTA:O wasn't so huge, GTA V's reputation would be way better imho

I should say some people don't play it anymore becase the game had kinda a weak story compared to other titles

Only compared to GTA IV imho..it's not like GTA was ever known for it's story apart from that game

Which worries me that the next GTA might be Online only, but Rockstar ain't that crazy. But maybe V's reputation will increase if they did some sh*t like that.

Yeah, I feel like that GTA IV appealed to people who loves great storytelling in games and V for intense gameplay.

Yeah not much to talk about here lately tbh. I guess he went overboard and insulted some members? Idk

I doubt that. Rockstar showed with RDR2 that they still care about SP players. But V's reputation will likely increase either way, the next GTA will remove/add it's own stuff that people won't like and then people will look back on V and appreciate what it did.

Anyone? Just curious since a lot of people seem to play Online and never touch the story after the prologue.

Not really much anymore because I just find it so boring an uninteresting. Being a lapdog for corrupt law enforcement for about 70 or 80 percent of the game's main story is not appealing to me in the slightest. Why Rockstar believed I gave a f*ck about whether the FIB gets a bigger spending budget than the IAA is beyond me.

I just tend to free roam and use the mods. But I never play Online.

Yeah from time to time. At least when I play it works whenever unlike GTAO.

I only play Singleplayer. I have only played online a few times back in 2013.

Unfortunately, I need a new PC, and since I got no money, I cannot play GTA V anymore. On the PC version I used car handling mods, sidemission mods, etc. GTA V without mods is a wreck and the worst game in the franchise.

TNT Goes Boom!

The times I do play story mode, I do it for the free-roam because there's way too many missions I would never play again. Probably more so than any of the other GTA games. I mainly play on PS4, but a few months back I got the PC version just for the mods as I have no intent on playing Online there.

Mods save the SP in this game. Without mods, SP just goes down the pan.

You spoiled kids and your fancy PC mods. Back in my day...

Totally enjoying single-player without mods so far. The story is not amazing or anything, but it's definitely fun.

Lol you're funny. Cost me quite a lot of money getting a PC for all this GTA modding I tell ya, it weren't easy bro 😬

Nah SP without mods to me is just not worth it anymore. The story is weak and there is not much to do once you finish it. Glad you are having fun though.

Nah. I got the game in 2015 and have completed the story four times since, so I don't have much interest to replay the missions.

I also have my 100 % savegames and over billion money on each protagonist from stock market plus all the possible properties, so I'm pretty much done with the single player. Sometimes I just hang around playing as Michael, but that's very rare. Online still gets new content and it's usually more exciting to play with the other people.

Beat it once (a little bit after a month it released). I can’t bore myself going through the story again. I enjoyed the first couple missions but after Friends Reunited... yikes. The story really didn’t get me interested like in previous GTA titles.

I want to point out that I actually did like Michael as a character by the way.

Started a new save a few weeks back. I've owned the PS4 version since 2016 and have always wanted to finish it, but just never got around to it due to other games and such. With a fresh and clear mind I've been enjoying it thus far. I've been playing it similarly how I play GTA IV and complete side missions and such parallel to how the story's unfolding because I like for things to make sense and flow nicely.

Though I've never touched GTAO on the PS4 and I doubt I ever will.

I quit singleplayer as I finished it's main story. I see no reason to continue playing it. Since then, I play only online. More fun, more interesting.

Actually I just started a new play through last night. I've replayed missions off and on for the last five years but never started a new play through until last night. I don't know why. It just struck me to do so. A couple of things have changed since I purchased the game at release: I have a 55 inch 4K television and I finally purchased an HDMI cable for my PS3. The game looks gorgeous, especially the Prologue. There's no secret that I am all about GTA IV, but I am mildly enthusiastic about playing this game through for the second time. I may have a better appreciation for V now, despite still being in love with IV. I'll spend the next weeks cheating on my beloved Liberty City. But sometimes the girlfriend is better than the wife. (so I've heard)

Online never stood a chance with me.

How long before we start dubbing this the SOL effect? 😛

It seems more GTA IV fans are going back to GTA V replay again and appreciating it more. Can only be a good thing.:)

Now all we have to do is to make you give San Andreas another try and we're all good. 😉

Yep, it's time that we give every GTA game a new chance and start loving them again so we can finally unite and stop arguing about these games.

As much I critqued SA, I still love it just like every GTA game.

I have given it a chance a number of times, but there's a reason I still haven't finished after 15 years.😉

Of course like every GTA it has its good points (When I'm not being a dick about it I guess), but collectively as a whole it doesn't do much for me so don't expect any revelation type posts anytime soon.😛

With GTA V I feel it's different because even during the times where I've like been really hard on it in the back of my mind I always knew it had some good ideas and playing it still feels fresh, but with each passing year San Andreas starts to feel more dated with its driving, shooting, physics etc so any glimmer of hope of rekindling some long lost love was lost years ago because I've already made up my mind what I like and dislike about it.

Plus I think GTA V does indeed get too much of a hard time (Like GTA IV did before it) so I can sympathise with fans of the game.

Well the difference with me is that I have no problem with dated mechanics if a game is old. When I play San Andreas, I always feel like it's 2004 and these mechanics are acceptable and therefore I can enjoy it. Same goes to the older ones as well. I personally can easily adapt to any mechanic as long as it has a " valid reason" to be that way.

I guess people just deal with it differently. I don't like to judge games based on their release because then it feels like I'm just being blinded by nostalgia.

I'm also a console gamer so I don't have the benefit of mods to help disguise some of deficiencies the older GTAs had at the time due to limited tech. I've been playing the bog standard console versions for over 20 years now. I mean if you can play the game and feel like it's 2004 that's awesome (I'm not being sarcastic BTW). I wish I could feel the same way, but I don't. As I said in the unpopular opinions thread even GTA III and Vice City don't captivate me as much as they used to. I mostly like those games now because of their settings, atmosphere, characters etc.

After spending the last few years playing mostly R* games from 2008 onwards going back to these old titles feels too jarring to me to play them for substantial amounts of time.

I will be real with you....

I would definitely suggest you give SA another go, but to be honest, SA is best played with some mods and PC enhancements at 60fps at least. With SilentPatch, SkyGfx, Project 2Dfx at 60fps, SA is almost a newly refurbished game. Then use modloader for new weapons, vehicles, and other stuff, and Cleo for scripts, and you're complete with the whole package ready to go.

When I play SA with all these enhancements and additions, I actually feel like I'm playing an kind of up to date game. It really feels much different to when I first plated it. I've even added IV ragdoll physics, IV gunshot sounds, and exact V vegetation to enhance the ambience and realism even more.

OG I can totally understand where you're coming from and if I had a decent gaming PC I would probably give it a go to invest some time into mods, but then again there are some things mods can't fix sadly like the story, characters etc. I still hate CJ after all these years (is there a mod that replaces him with Niko atleast? 😛). Convince me it's worth modding haha.

Yes, it's an amazing campaign alongside with San Andreas and RDR2 and I have been playing this game for 4-5 months and I'm still not bored and I just started playing it this year for first time I'm about to complete the campaign for the fifth time and SA I beat it for about 10-15 times or more..
