Did RDR Online *FAIL* because of the lack of "Invite Only Mode?"

Why is trying a different game while waiting for new content to come out such a hard thing to do for many?

Because I have a job, kids, and a family so the amount of free time I have to play video games is not so much.  When I've invested a lot of time in a particular game, that I really like, it sucks to start back over somewhere else because the games I like are broken due to apathy from Rockstar.

And you cannot manual aim in CoD with a controller?  Sucks bagg for you dude.

I'll take that.  I guess I've been playing GTA and RDR for so long that I prefer third person on a controller setup.  I played the original COD on PC as well as Battlefield 2 and loved both and was pretty good.  I don't like free aim on a dual shock, it sucks.

It’s more like a classy restaurant acting like an all-you-can-eat and allows customers to smoke at their table too. Non-smokers would at least want a separate section, but not getting it.
Some won’t mind, many would go someplace else.

Oh!

A classy restaurant...in St Denis, of course, expensive dinners...that give you gold cores for a full game day.

Plenty of atmosphere, with poker, billiards, and other entertainments....

That would be a great addition to the game.

Yeh me too.  Job.  Wife.  Kids.  Pets.  Mortgage.  Girlfriend.  Writing on the side.

I hear ya though, life just gets in the way.  Trust me, I have like a 2-3 game limit (usually 1 multi, 1 SP...sometimes a third that’s light hearted).

Free aim is tricky.  Just gotta get used to it.  I always loved the responses when I told my old guild on SW:ToR that I play with a mapped DS4.  Whatever - your preference is your preference.  Play and enjoy is the main thing, right?

This topic poses a good question. My thoughts:

Did it fail because there were no invite only sessions? No.

Would it have stood a better chance? Perhaps. I know at least in my case, I'd still be a loyal player to this day had there been solo sessions. The world would be (supposedly) unhindered by high player count bugs, the immersion would be less likely to be broken, strolling through towns casually would be possible without dying. None of these would fix the core issues of the game, or outweigh them. But in my case, I would have overlooked those shortcomings had there been solo sessions. Instead, I haven't played in just over a month, and I don't know if I will play again, even if things improve.

So not really, would be my answer. Although it sure would have been an appreciated feature had it been there. A (bad) analogy that springs to mind would be that this game now is a sea of lava, and solo sessions would have been a tiny piece of safe land in that sea of lava.

^^ lol Though I think it's actually "Wah Wah Wee Wah".

Better keep Borat out of RDO though--he's a self-proclaimed 'gypsy catcher', so Madame Bizarre would not be safe. ;)

I think you are wrong,  before these last patches i almost never had unresponsive bounty missions, camps that had the icon but dissapeared, the table not receiving the refill missions, etc. The game its worse. If they had jus put the f*cking solo sessions without touching anything, well be better for sure, much better. Hell they should have just reduced the servers, its important in life to figured out your skills and limits and act in consecuence.

The four people I talked into buying this game have all left because of the lack of solo lobbies and I've had to buy a lot of drinks to make up for it. By the way, the drinking is done at establishments where we typically don't have to worry about some axxxxxe trying to interrupt our fun, unlike this game.

I don't fully understand. You say you think I am wrong, and then you are pretty much saying what I am saying? I agree that it would have been better with solo sessions.

No, I haven't had the displeasure of being murdered the second I walk into a town because usually all the towns are empty and everyone in the session is out in the country sides. The amount of people looking to fight me and my friends in free roam is so low that I've actually started missing confrontations and town shootouts, not saying they don't happen but they're rare for me so solo sessions wouldn't do anything except cause me to get bored faster and make me feel... well... alone.

Whats killing the game imo is the lack of new fresh content and the fact that animal spawns are still messed up because of player population.

I’ve had all these bugs in the past.  And this is R*’s biggest problem I think they face - is that they can get these recurring bugs, but they’re not always recurring for some, sometimes they’re new or sometimes they’re recurring in the game, but the people who got them before don’t get them now.

That’s like trying to hit a bullseyes, blindfolded, while driving in opposite directions (with no auto-aim).

Everyone says the current showdowns. etc. are boring.

I daresay that much of the unpopularity of the PvP modes is their limitations and lack of variety.

Releasing an editor that the player base could use to make some new modes, and even new stranger, shine, bounty, etc. missions would greatly enhance the game's content, and distract the bored (and very creative) people itching for new content.

It's the sign of a strong, mature, and healthy attitude in a game company when they accept and even promote user mods.

Perhaps even sponsor their inclusion as official content.

Mount & Blade, and the development of With Fire and Sword is one perfect example of this attitude.

The CC for GTA was lackluster for a couple of years, with 96% of the content being garbage, 3% was just recycled ideas and poorly executed (cage maps with mini guns on the outside anyone?), and 0.9% were good ideas of existing mode that were done fairly well, and 0.09% were the same but done really well, and 0.01% of them were actually either original ideas done excellently and those original ideas done in different places).

If we get an editor, I really hope we get a FULL TOOLBOX to work with to start and not have to wait 2.5-3 years like we did for GTA CC to get better stuff for.

Lack of free roam content and the unreliable shallow content we do have is what did it for me

The only reason this game would be failing is is because rockstar can't fix the basics and everyone has got sick of all the annoyances.
