RDO hairstyles in GTAO

I think it would be cool if they just copy and paste the hair styles In red dead online into gta online . All we ever wanted was long hair in gta so it was a kick in the face that they get it in red dead online first .

Yeah new hair styles would be nice I guess. Many of the ones they've added were ugly ghetto looking ones that just scream wannabe gang banger.

Not just that but actual 3D beards. I'll settle for more hairstyles regardless.

They are too short-sighted to see that more clothing, styling and customisation options would breath some longevity into this tired game, and instead just churn out adversary mode after adversary mode which nobody really plays after the first few goes.

Sounds good, won't work.

Specifically, R* used a third-party hair physics engine (Ornatrix) for RDR2 - GTA V doesn't have that (and it's not something you can just graft on now with a title update), so can't do the same hair/beard/fur effects as Red Dead. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Granted, R* can do more interesting clothing/hairstyles that keep within the same tech limitations as existing stuff - they've been supremely rubbish at doing interesting, thematically-appropriate clothing for aaages, now. But when it comes to long hair, proper full beards, that sort of thing, GTAO is definitely showing signs of age - even the current-gen version is fundamentally a remaster of a game built with last-gen console limitations in mind.

I'd love more, and certainly beards and facial hair.

But I also do feel that both RDRO and GTA:O should have differences too. Just to give the 2 games their own feel of course, but longer hair and beards, absolutely.

Would be nice to have growing hair/beards, but get not all would want it that realistic too. Just more options is all good for me. :)

Even the NPCs have more styles available than players...not fair dammit!  :miranda:

Thing is, even working within the technical limitations of GTAO, and making a conspicuous effort not to have GTAO and RDO bump into one another, there's plenty of room for R* to flesh out GTAO - and yet they seem strangely averse to doing so. :dontgetit:

It's bugged me for years that they've not added more ponytails/bunches/pigtails/whatever (and barely add new hairstyles in general - we got just a couple with Gunrunning two years ago, and nothing since) - the game had a couple of long, tied styles like that at launch, which means there's no reason they couldn't add more variations that function in the exact same way.

For example, to go with the existing "Ponytail", how about something like this, called "Tall/High Ponytail", or what-have-you:

70e43072c8b8fe4736748b5b0f04cd1b243b37b5r1-1242-1531v2_00.jpg

...but it's the same problem as clothing, isn't it? R* is perfectly fine adding novelty alien costumes and endless things in crappy-looking camo prints - but can they add decent club outfits for a nightlife update? Can they f*** - nope, palette-swaps of Beach Bum stuff, and naff 'dad at a barbeque' shirts it is... :sui:

@Commander S. To be honest, these days I look more forward to a Thursday t-shirts more than most as they're quite simple. There's so many clothes from the more modern DLC's that just don't work for me. Would be nice to get some more normal clothing this time with a casino that, at least until release, doesn't have combat or zany written all over the clothing.

(Though admittedly, I've not really played around with the clothing at depth this last year too).

Same. I'm actually at the point where I've just left my characters in launch-era jeans and trainers for ...maybe two years, now, and all I do is log in, swap to the new event t-shirts, do a mission or something, then log off. :turn:

Bit like how I don't really play Overwatch anymore, but that whole 'fear of missing out' mentality means that I'll log in whenever they do a limited-time event, redeem the free loot box, then ...go back to not playing Overwatch.

Part of me wants this next update to be the one where R* takes things up a gear, now that RDR2 has been released, and RDO is up and running - whatever happens with it, I guess it'll give the best indication as to whether R* might still be inclined to improve the GTAO experience after all these years, or if the current 'normal' really is as 'good' as it'll ever get. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Yes, absolutely. I feel this is one of those moments where we learn much going forward with the two games. As RDRO fleshes out, we learn much rapidly. And here with that feedback opening up and RDRO being up and running of course to not stall creativity in future for either game.

If they want a 2019 GTA:O to stand up against other companies, and to compliment RDRO with bringing good revenue, it has to appeal to a 2019 gamer looking to buy something to play, or rebuy. (With today's trend in remastering game's in mind too).

The way you play Overwatch is me in RDRO until, hopefully, it picks up for me. Great potential and unwilling to fully give up there, but being tested, lol. And here in GTA:O I have 3 regular casual outfits. One being my Lonely Robot tee I got one Xmas, which is glorious. My Kifflom tee, which I bought IRL, lol.

And my beach bum outfit. The floral board shorts, the bright green/yellow (I'm colourblind) tank top, a pair of sports sneakers all bright to match, a Fukaru green backward baseball cap (from day one), black shades, Brown dreads, a bit of stubble, gold chain and black sports watch. (It's in the show your character thread but can't link on mobile).

Been my main outfit since the start of this account and nothing has c9me close to replacing it. Love it! (Though have stealth, bank job, scuba, and combat for heists saved too).

I'd happily live with some clipping as a cost of having long hair, but it seems R* is not willing to make that sacrifice, so I don't see it coming to the game unfortunately.

Imagine if we got a rotation: one week is an adversary mode, next is new cosmetic items. That way they still make adversary modes, only stretched out with cosmetics in between to lengthen release windows for dlc's. The more I think of it I can't believe R* hasn't caught on to that.

I think you just gave them am idea. "Let's stretch out the drip feed more by placing hairstyles into the mix! And we'll tie them with the latest crappy adversary mode so that players get the trade price off a $50,000 haircut!" I can see it now.

I'm still pissed that they took the nice tight ponytail we had and made it look like I just rolled out of bed
If they were going to make another variation of the same style they should have gave us the choice between the two

That’s a kinda harmful stereotype tbh :/ just because they’re black hairstyles doesn’t mean they’re ghetto...

This also fits in the R* logic thread, but I'll put it here:

My original character has like 2 outfits, and I can't be bothered buying anything more for him ($50,000 for a pair of pants, FFS!).

And today, an NPC said "that look is soooo stale"

Well, I guess you can thank R* for that.  🙂
