CarlyRaeJepsen
It is very unfair that npc’s have skirts that are much more poofy and full . They must have very large petticoats underneath them. In contrast, female character players’ skirts are not very volumous . Here is an examples of npc’s skirt in comparison to my characters skirt. As you can see, the npc’s skirt is much fuller and has a larger radius in diameter . My characters skirt falls flat with little to no volume . Currently the most poofy skirts we have are the hitched skirt and the Kamasa skirt but I am not a fan due to the exposed bloomers and ankles . I understand and the reason for our skirts to be less poofy may be due to them having to be able to fit under our belts . I suggest that they allow us to unequip or have an “invisible” weapon belt thus allowing us to wear skirts with more poofiness. Thank you . Ghoffman9
I think it has something to do with the actions the players engage in that the NPC's do not such as horse back riding. The dress might stretch and clip in bad ways when mounting a horse. Normally in the wild west ladies in dresses rode horses with their legs both on one side since the dress prevents them from riding the horse like normal. Its why things such as long coats have a big split at the bottom. Fatsanchez, CarlyRaeJepsen, AmyStone and 2 others
AmyStone
Can you imagine that dress on a horse. The ones we get to buy look bad enough (it's why my character always wears trousers) but those would look crazy. -LN-, IamCourtney, CarlyRaeJepsen and 1 other

I hope we get poofier skirts and this option It works for riding casually but hard riding where you are going fast, doing jumps, and shooting enemies from your horse, not so much. It would just take your horse making a sharp turn at the wrong time for you to fall off. Your legs are vital on keeping you on the horse, as they keep you from sliding off one side. When you go to reload a gun, neither your arms, or your legs are really keeping you on the horse, very impractical. What Rockstar should do is give something akin to what Bonnie MacFarlane wears. She wears some sort of dress thats split down the middle that makes it still look like a dress but can also ride a horse properly.

CarlyRaeJepsen
I can think of a few games were poofy skirts exist without clipping such as assasins creed syndicate, fallout 76, and super Mario party . Also the npc’s skirts in red dead redemption 2 have beautiful cloth physics and I truly would not mind clipping or stretching at times if it’s necessary . -LN-
I do like some of the skirts currently available and I'm all for adding more options and variants, but yea, I've noticed some issues here and there with what we have now; I suppose it's nothing drastic, but sometimes my hands seem disappear into the skirt if I'm sitting idle on the horse and things of that nature. I spend most of my time in Lemoyne, especially within the Bayou, and I hate to think just how hot and uncomfortable so much of the clothing would have been back then in that type of climate! Did you actually just use Super Mario Party as an example for skirts when we're talking about RDR2 wut None of those games are a good example of the type of problems you'd run into giving player characters big skirts in RDO. We've got gun animations (shooting, reloading, walking with gun in both hands, walking with gun in one hand), combat animations including kicking, then stuff like crouching, diving, bending down to skin animals, pick herbs, getting onto and off horses, riding horses, kicking on horses, riding as a passenger on a horse, sitting, kneeling... The list goes on. Long coats and the skirts already in the game run into problems with all these animations to begin with I can't even imagine how bad it would be if we got big puffy skirts. Also while I'm all for fashion end-game in games we are playing outlaws at the end of the day. It'd be a lot of effort to get skirts like this in and that effort would better spent on other forms of clothing options IMO. Difficult (and really uncomfortable, even just to look at - that's a recipe for pins and needles, right there...), but nevertheless period-authentic! The main issues would be doing a bunch of new animations (rather than just recycling stuff from Arthur in single-player), and adding proper side-saddles (which I suspect most people wouldn't bother owning. Bit like adding manual transmission to GTAO - it'd be a lot of work for little to no return, I imagine. As for fancy formal dresses, I reckon just adding them wouldn't be a problem at all - and yeah, like in Assassin's Creed Syndicate, it'd be good for something like a mission where you have to go undercover at some fancy social do (bit like that one mission in RDR2, in fact): Worth remembering that Evie had to waddle around with her arms out to the sides, couldn't carry any equipment/weapons, and couldn't run, either - so it'd be more a roleplay thing than anything practical. But I could see R* adding more formal stuff, with the caveat that you can change into them when off your horse, but you can't get on until you swap outfits back to something more practical. Nothing stopping you from storing them on your horse, though (helps that we can access horse storage when on foot!). -LN-, Jason, kcole4001 and 1 other
Labovasha
Puffy skirts would work just fine especially if you could hide the gunbelt like the satchel. The sides are not so much wider than the largest gun belt or a holstered sawn off shotgun. The characters already animate to make room for the belts on their hips. Clipping on horseback would probably be the only real issue and that could be minimized by simply raising the skirt up just like they did with other ones. The limited time skirts from the catalogue alradly shows this can be done. It would not be any worst than the large coats and skirts that we already see it the game. Minor clipping is bound to happen and it is impossible to avoid, even half naked characters have it. CarlyRaeJepsen and -LN-

SOFTSERVE1100
Generally would love to see poofier skirts in Rdr2! I don't see why people are worried about the belts when the developers could just change the position and maybe size of the belt. I Personally go on a holiday every year where we dress as natives and cowboys and do shoot outs (firing blanks so nobody is hurt) and listen to county music. When we go there a lot of women do wear trousers but i do know women who just position their belts differently to fit over a petticoat. They do just as well as anybody else. As for saddles it could be an idea to Automatically have the dress pinned up on the sides when you mount a horse or even have an animation that NPCs do have where they do sit on the side of their horses and like another person said there are side saddles if that bothers you. Maybe you should have an option to either have the normal saddle or the side saddle so then people (including men) can sit how they like. Id also like to see a petticoat clothing option. This could mean that you have to buy the petticoat to have the skirt be poofier. maybe have 3 different amounts of extra poof (None, Medium, Large). If your worried about clipping they could try and fix it with cloth physics. I would also love to see jewellery and lacy gloves and maybe stockings in the Tailors but maybe only in saint denis. R* could even just add a whole store dedicated to decorative jewellery and knife covers or something. Overall i think that poofy skirts are an amazing idea and I've wanted them for ages. I really hope they add something like this in the future. https://www.pinterest.co.uk/pin/522699100502831316/ Edited January 24, 2021 by SOFTSERVE1100 Direwrath, IceHeartache and kcole4001

I really hope they add something like this in the future. My daughter would love to see the skirts flow better. She's constantly looking at the dresses worn by the ladies in St Denis and wishing she could dress her character up like that. I joke with her that poofy dresses would no doubt make it a little harder for her character to do her "outlaw" shenanigans but she still insists. And she has also been begging for jewelry and baubles, which is something I am honestly surprised they aren't pushing on us more. I've come to the conclusion that my daughter wants her character to be the belle of the ball, with a gun and a nasty attitude of course. As for the sidesaddle, those saddles make controlling the horse difficult, and are definitely not a good choice for the rough riding that our characters tend to do. For aesthetic purposes they do look nice, and are seen to be more respectable for the ladies to use when wearing skirts. But I think R* shies away from them for the reasons that at the moment they are not all that practical, and that the scripting needed to animate our characters mounting and dismounting (ugh), etc is more work than they want to deal with. Right now R* is focused on the game being about gunslingers and outlaws, maybe in the future they will move towards allowing players to make their characters better fit for high class society. You holidays sound like a ton of fun! I'm a Rennie myself, and love doing medieval events like that. IceHeartache
Well i'm kinda optimistic with the female clothes and style in general in this game, i mean coming from GTO, the skirts, the dresses and the hairstyles with the accessories are in a whole other level for better than in GTO lol So i have a little hope that maybe they will add a nice high class dress someday, at the moment i would like if they added jewelry options, i don't know, some earring, or necklaces would be cool, Carmelita was a monster, but she looked very cool with her earrings and her Veil, and still she is a bad ass outlaw with a machine gun lol, also i think the best example of a woman being able to start a shooting and using a big dress is Jessica, so after that mission, i would be okay to see a girl dressed like a high class lady killing griffers in Valentine SOFTSERVE1100 and Direwrath

We likely will never get skirts like this because of the insane amount of clipping/stretching/glitchyness it'd cause when interacting with damn nearly everything in the game. It’s pretty difficult. Never ridden a horse either, but you have to ride sidesaddle a very specific way (as to not over-distribute your weight onto one side) and typically use a crop on one side to make up for lack of a leg. So you’ll have both legs awkwardly held on one side, one holding the reins, and one using a crop. Not the best situation for riding fast through gunfire, when you can’t even balance in any way but one and can’t move either of your arms. And, as you said, big poofy skirts are going to be a glitch infested challenge, as well as coding the sidesaddle riding. Big skirts like that usually have layers of petticoats and hoop skirts on the bigger dresses, and just multiple (hot!) layers on the smaller ones. None of it is very fitting for the climate, nor is it fun to model, so they’ll probably leave it for the time being. I do wish they’d give us some prettier clothes and hats for women, but they’ve had years to add those and IDK if they’ll ever do it.
