rusbeckia
is it just me or did they fix the animals despawns? I just hunted several ducks very far from each other (out of large minimap range) and they didn't disappear. until I reached the N in HEARTLANDS on the map. The carcass was lying at the S. That's like 3 times the range I was used to. Edited June 5, 2019 by rusbeckia Master Tyrus

I don't worry about em disappearing anymore, nice that they're fixing stuff. rusbeckia, -LN- and Master Tyrus
rusbeckia
I just found that only the icon on the map disappears if you reach a distance like from the N to the S in Heartlands. But it's still there when you go back. 6 minutes ago, Assblaster said: Yeah I noticed that too. I don't worry about em disappearing anymore, nice that they're fixing stuff. yup! It's really nice to know that you don't have to worry so much, when shooting several animals at once. Let's hope it stays that way. However, it disappeared when I went to the H in Heartlands. So that was too far. I don't feel like testing it out in detail right now. Good enough for me -LN- and Assblaster
Leftover Pizza
Have they also fixed the animal’s cloaking devices when aimed at with a scope? Not that it happens a lot, but sometimes I see them, scope them and they don’t appear on scope, lower my rifle to see them standing there again. Re-aim (yes, I aim at the right spot), they remain there. Apply scope and their cloaking device is activated....
-LN-
Glad to know this! When hunting, I've tried to always keep their icons visible on the compass map out of fear of them vanishing. Same with dead NPCs from hideouts and the like, but those still seem to have an issue with vanishing every now and then; not always, but it seems very hit or miss lately. I came across a group of 4 pronghorns on the great plains earlier, I took a shot at one of them and missed. they shot off and I put my rifle away and followed them. they went over a hill and all of them despawned. even the eagle eye trails just disappeared completely. strange thing is that I have never experienced this before now, so I'd say no, it's not fixed. rusbeckia

I've noticed that the area hideouts take place in reset faster when you killed the leader early. It's not only dead npcs despawning when the leader is killed, but also some items in the area seem missing, like the gattling guns. I try to keep the leader alive to keep the area active, loot all the corpses and then finish him off. Not sure if it's a thing, though, but when I do it my way, it always works fine. -LN-

You and I do it the same way. ☺ Now that you mention it; it does seem to happen more when I accidentally kill the leader too early. I usually kill off all of the enemies, loot them, spare the leader; then rope, hogtie, and loot him. Ever since, the leaders die by a shotgun shot right in the kisser. These guys are not to be trusted. Btw, I also noticed, when premature killing the leader, the leader's corpse also despawns early if it's no longer in the minimap area. The one at the river near Rhodes is a hassle, since the enemies are fairly wide spread. Fortunately, their aim is bad and you can loot sections while being shot at. I like that one the least, also because I have to shoot a dog... -LN-

I didn't have a problem. However it was not superfar away when shooting it

I don't necessarily believe it, but with how I've been running lately, I'll take all of the chances possible, lol. Aside from the ones from levelling, I've yet to find a single one since long before the update; perhaps only two at most in all the time that I've played and cleared hideouts! I understand though, lol, I should kill them; I'm not striving for high honour; that builds up enough for me as it is. However, if they happen to break free, they will most definitely attack you. I made that mistake at the one in the Bayou; I tied him up, went over to another shack to loot items, walked out, and was instantly attacked. Now I tie that one up and dump them into the water for the alligators. Leftover Pizza

Some from the hideouts didn't come from the leader, but from a regular enemy, so I think it's fairly random. Hogtying them and throwing them to the alligators sounds good fun. When I am in a terrible mood, I torch them with a fire bottle if I have one to spare. Their screams can sometimes be very satisfying..... 6 minutes ago, rusbeckia said: I actually hunted one of the deer I tested the distance with the rolling block. I didn't have a problem. But sometimes you aim at them, red dot visible, apply scope for precision shot, animal gone, put away scope and it's there again, including red aim dot..... I also noticed that when you are at long distance, they don't notice you when not using a scope. As soon as you apply scope, they become alert and slowly walk towards something that gets them out of LoS. -LN-

That's not what everyone means by despawn, they mean the carcass. What you encountered happens all the time, once an animal is a certain distance away, especially out of eyesight, it just vanishes. I happened to me in the same area with Bison, they went over a hill, when I got to the top they were gone, turned around and the fkn things were back where they originally spawned at.
