I mean again @ChiroVette I haven't really posted here much since RDR2 came out as I played that and other games, the only reason I'm here now is because of some beta stuff (always fun to look at) and because there was a fake me posting here to which you responded to with accusations. 😛

And again, just because I prefer IV to V does not make me a fanboy, yet you keep twisting it back to IV whenever I compare it to other Rockstar Games titles (many which you've stated you dislike for not being GTAV) so yeah, food for thought, enjoy being the head honcho of the V section. ;)

True you haven't posted much here lately. Glad you like RDR2 more than I do. I also agree that preferring IV, in and of itself, doesn't make you a fanboy. But when the current, post-IV game has been out for 6 years and you IV fans continue posting the same complaints over and over again in this forum, I enjoy responding in my own inimitable way! Oh and speaking of word twisting, the reason I don't like RDR2 is not because "its not V." Its because the game is boring, too slow moving, I hate western themed entertainment, and the gameplay mechanics sadly remind me of IV. I enjoy a lot of other non GTA Rockstar games. Mafia games, Max Payne, yes GTA, also, Bully, etc. I love Midnight Club titles.

I havn't played rdr 1 or 2 as i don't have a console. i dont know what is so good about those games. the gameplay videos on youtube looks mediocre lacking content and the graphics was dissapointing. i might buy it if it comes to pc but only on steam sale or when it drops to below 30$. anybody say a few reasons whats so good about rdr 2?

It's GTA in the wild west. You get a familiar yet different vibe from it. I remember back in the GTA 3 and Vice City days when people would crack jokes about "Grand Theft Horse" and yet here we are.

Also, RDR1 will probably never be on PC. The game's code is said to be like spaghetti it's so mangled, so a PC port probably won't happen.

There is too much countryside if you ask me, but that is not a good thing for me anyway, because I feel much of it largely empty and useless space. If there had been much more small towns and a second city like San Diego, I'd might have been very content with it, but on this offering ? Very poor. I'm struggling right now to find a whole bunch of things to do and explore in LS and that is even with mods.

The only thing that can redeem this map is an expansion in SA-style with San Fierro and Las Venturas added, and more small towns.

They needed a second strip club in the map and having it be in the countryside would have been perfect.

Add a second strip club exclusive to Story Mode to get all the thirsty 10 year olds off of Online.

I always thought opposite. I thought the city was small and countryside was big. I did think it was boring though and the map looks weird.

There were 12 towns in san andreas and they were spaced far from each other making it look like real countryside. but in v all towns are continuosly spaced next to each other. it feels just like outskirts of los santos.

Yeah I don't think it's really the size that's the problem, it's the way they used it. I think that road going all the way around the map was one key mistake, everything being encased by a ring-road that only leads back to Los Santos really doesn't help make the map feel expansive. Everything is too grouped together/linked together, with huge amounts of wasted mountain space around the edges. Whereas in San Andreas empty space was used much more effectively to create distance between lots of different towns/areas.

When you can stand on Vinewood Hills and see everything of note on the map in any direction all at once (the entire city and almost the entire countryside) you know something went wrong with making the map feel big.

That's the draw distance. It's a technical advancement that can hurt the game while it helps the scenery. The draw distance in 3D era games was awful but it helped the map. Especially in San Andreas it helped the map seem way bigger than it actually is. But in V, you can see the maze bank from the top of Mount Chiliad. Nice scenery. But makes you feel the map is small. This is one of those moments when you realize technical advancements don't always help the game. Look how small this part of SA looks without the fog/sh*tty draw distance. Look how close the 2 cities seem to be now. They seem as close as Grapeseed and Sandy Shores in V.

They made the city big. but the countryside was too small. the mountains are very empty and it gives the illusion that the area is bigger when it is not. if the mountain areas are flat the countryside will feel very very small. there is nothing interesting or fun to do in countryside. the desert area is small and you don't get the feeling of lost in the desert like in san andreas. same for the forest area.

Totally agreed. The map feels small. You don't get a sense of isolation regardless of where you are. The hills and mountain are empty props with no vegetation, and the desert has trailers and houses scattered throughout. I still can't quite get my head around the idea of hunting deer in what looks like someone's back garden. I thought R* were kidding, but no, you literally hunt wild animals a few metres away from a major road.

In SA I can load any save from any location, hop in a vehicle and go explore. I can go up Chiliad 5 days in a row, and the experience will be unique and fresh every time. In V I purposefully drive up a mountain in a sports car (because apparently GTA 5 physics allows it) only to find nothing but a rocky surface all the way to the top and all the way to the bottom.

As TheSantder25 said, (sorry if I misspelled your name, lol), I'd still take it over NOT having a countryside at all, which IV didn't have and was supposed to...

I do think they should have added a little bit more city.

It's nice when GTA SA and GTA IV fans leave their differences behind and come together to bash V 😀 :miranda:

I really like the map, kinda reminds me of a model railroad diorama though. I think the mountains are important for the scenery, think of all usable vehicles cars, (offroad) bikes, planes, a plain map would be very boring while flying. And the mountains are not empty, you have the cannibal camp, some scenic paths, the cable railway.

The map might a have larger and more industrialized city in the northern part and the highway splitting in various directions like in the southern part so that it not appears as a simple circle, but you need potential for improvement for further games, so I am perfectly fine with the map given its date of release.

In proportion of the map and real life big cities, it was the Los Santos part that was small, it feels like a 50.000 inhabitants town, not a major city.
