At the beginning of the online portion we could share any profit from a mission/shop robbery to anybody. Sharing only, we never had the ability to give anything to another player. Sure it never concerned more than 10k$ payout (which is almost nothing in GTA's economy) but you could still do it. The amount you could share from a free roam mission with another player in GTA is so small that it's pointless. If you really wanted to you could give your friend some money in RD by playing poker. But it would take you so long to give them anything they could use that it's pointless. They could earn the money quicker doing RD missions.
