info.png

Vice City Overhaul is set in past day time for Grand Theft Auto V, the map is redefined with lots of enhancements and many remodelled areas. Our modification aims to deliver a brand new Vice City experience with a whole new level of set of features and attention to detail. Our team is consistently expanding with new developers, our team currently has 12 members that range from 3D artists, GFX designers, radio and such.

What's our main goal for Vice City Overhaul?

• Ocean Drive remodelled buildings, roads, neon's and beach population like how the beach works in Los Santos

• Brand new vegetation

• Malibu Club Exterior and Interior remodelled & a fully functional club

• Full traffic support

• Minimap support

• A number select of missions (We're looking for voice actors, DM me if you're interested!)

• Optimised for lower-end PC's

• Occluders, LOD and SLOD support

• Refined brands with new GFX work

• A metro system in Downtown

We have many other goals but for the meantime, I'd like to share a development update. We recently launched a beta for our Discord users to test a few select features for a taste of Vice City Overhaul, we have collected bug reports and we have begun polishing the conversion map in order to fix the alpha, collision issues across the city. Furthermore, completely new roads and pavements are currently being developed, this also includes the UV being fixed too. Check some of our behind the scenes from our Project Leader and Developer ryanm2711.

Question: What about Take-Two Interactive?

Answer: We haven't received a cease and desist letter or word from Take-Two yet, but if they'd like us to stop developing we'll comply within their demands.

Question: Where is it launching?

Answer: We plan to launch Vice City Overhaul on RAGE Modding, GTA-5mods.com and GTAForums at release.

Question: Do you plan to make a FiveM server?

Answer: Absolutely yes!

Question: What time of year is Vice City Overhaul set in?

Answer: Vice City Overhaul is set in past day time.

Question: I would like to help you and become part of the team

Answer: Awesome! We're always looking into expanding the team. Shoot me a DM on GTA Forums or Discord (VideoTech UK#0001).

Question: Why is the map so close to Los Santos?

Answer: Due to the game engine limitations, we're unable to move the map within a far distance. Moving the map futher of the map will not allow use of traffic support, navmeshes, and many other issues will be caused. If the engine boundaries are ever cracked, we'll consider moving the map.

Question: So you mentioned amazing optimisation. How so?

Answer: Vice City Overhaul will be heavily optimised to ensure performance is at it's best. We plan to have full occluders, LOD, and SLOD support and texture low and high settings support for most textures.

If you have any questions be sure to ask in the comments thread, I'm happy to answer any questions!

Vice City Overhaul Beta Build 3.00 has released on GTA-5mods.com.

I really like the idea, some of the posters are a little to on the nose but the building work looks great and just the concept of remastering Vice City, modernising it and THEN using the GTAO assets to fill it out is just brilliant. What year is the mod "set"?

Posters are mostly placeholder, some pictures still use old palms aswell and such, obviously we are still working on the mod and a lot is missing, the mod is actually set in present day (no particular year or anything for now, so lets say 2019) so we aren't trying to follow the retro style, however one of ideas is to have each district of the city look more unique, for example in Ocean Drive you will find more peds with retro clothes and old cars, while Little Haiti will be filled with gangs for example, we basically want to show that modern Vice City with modern story would totally work for next GTA Game

Whatever the music selection will be in this mod, I sure hope the song "Ocean Drive" by Duke Dumont will be among them. That song just screams modern Vice City.

Not to sound harsh, but unless they've got Voice Actors and an Audio Production team, Radio Stations are like the bottom priority in stuff like this.

When all is added, you think the Rockstar editor will still work? Thing tends to crash when a lot of props have been added.

Not sure to be honest, we have to wait and see when the map is finished, it could be hardcoded so there wouldn't be a way to fix it, I think Robin takes his screenshots with R* editor though, so I guess it works, personally I don't use it myself, I stick to jedijosh's ingame screenshot mod

I use R* editor for screenshots, videos. Everything is fine atm. Even when I'm using a ton of other mods and scripts and EVE for video export.

That's not a reason for Editor to crash.

That sounds good to me, a few of us did research a few years back (project never got off the ground) for a HD Era Vice City game set in 2011 (in between GTA IV and GTAV) with a story sorting out the loose ends and helpful to connect the events better. Outside of a rough draft no one really had the time, but I took the Radio Station on as a way to show people how research needs to be done and how to be as close to Rockstar's style as possible (pre-GTAV that is), so the Radio Stations I created were both based off real life ones broadcasting during those years in Miami-Dade county, as well as influenced from OG Vice City and VCS. Obviously a lot of the "modern" stations are catered for 2009/2010/2011 music but there's plenty of "oldies" stations which you guys might be interested in ranging from Adult Contemporary, Jazz, Country, Chillout, Classic Rock.
