NFS turning 25 years, GTA turned 20.

NFS Payback was not very good, can't remember the last time I played it. It got a lot of heat from the community for the crappy multiplayer and microtransactions.

No teasers on how this next NFS will be, but what I want most is crazy arcade racing with cops vs racers (hot pursuits). Time will show...

I've heard that the "we’ll be packing our bags and heading south for the full unveiling" part means they'll only fully announce the game at Gamescom, in August. They also mention they won't be teasing the game on social media, at least for now.

As for the title, I've seen people mention it's probably another Hot Pursuit, or that they're referencing Heat levels from older NFS games like Carbon and Most Wanted.

"we're working on an amazing game"

More like aMEHzing. NFS hasn't been good in a long ass time.

I really just want them to make something like Most Wanted or Underground. They seriously need to look at past games for inspiration. They've lost what made NFS great. Most Wanted in particular had so much to play through with the Blacklist. One of my favourite games.

I just wish they would make some remastered versions of the ol' classics.

Most Wanted and Carbon brought the greatest memories through video games I could imagine. Nowadays it's just bland, lacking the same feeling.

With that in mind, it had disappointed me having my only working digital copy of ProStreet removed from Origin's PC client, around the time EA shifted their focus entirely on the release of Payback. To the point where...i'll admit; I searched the internet for the original game files from a physical PC copy and "mounted" it to a virtual CD drive to make them work without one, literally just so I could relive the experience I enjoyed that felt so long ago.

Most Wanted was just so badass. I need to feel "rivalry" in Arcade racing games again. None of that sh*tty attempts like Payback though.

And no, no more of the "always online" sh*t from NFS 2015. Although not that big of a deal since I can at least roam around with AI drivers instead, i'd hope they change that for the next release.

As for how bad I want remastered classics, would I go to nuclear war just for those?

"Burnout 3? Oooohhhhh."

I have no hopes for it. Ghost Games has screwed up 3 times in a row now. Each time more and more OG people from older NFS games have left for other studios. Rivals was an unplayable piece of sh*t on PC. 2015, haven't tried it. The reason for that is the game itself so... and Payback... I tried Payback and I found some elements of it quite ok, the rest however was utter sh*t. Deleted it right after I finished the main story. Honestly just played it for the Aki Kumura guy from Pro Street.

I think the last good NFS game I played was in 2012.

One of their sh*tty community managers said that they will stick to the 2015 theme, and from that post it looks like they will announce it properly at Gamescom.

This could be blast if EA will be able to put in game all 25 years of experience. Like a start from late 1999's, in an road going, exotic tuned car, somewhere outside of small European alike towns, to the city at early 2000's in a tuner, and finish inside a hyper at a center of megalopolis. Game for everyone, where unhappy only highway patrol and police helicopter.

Also there must be grip semi simulation physics, may as option at least...

I am pretty sure this one will be better than Payback but no sure if it will be good enough or not, it's the 25th anniversary, it's their last chance for me (Ghost Games).

I don't have faith. They said "we are going back to roots" in 2015 and again in payback. And both games turned out to be garbage.

And most importantly always online bullsh*t and lootboxes mustn't be in this.

Things were already downhill when Criterion was out of the picture; haven't seen their games quite as interesting or engaging since Hot Pursuit in 2010.

NFS: High Stakes anyone ?

Seems to be the last great entry in the series.  Though I did enjoy Most Wanted, nothing like the OG Need For Speeds.

I have no faith in this new project.  Racing games seem to be the bottom of the barrel in todays’ selection.  Shame, though I’d like to be pleasantly surprised...

Nfs carbon seems to be last great entry in the series. Though I did enjoy the run, nothing like OG need for speeds...which is carbon, most wanted and underground.

And by the way nfs ug, mw and carbon are OG nfs's.

The last decent need for speed game I played was hot pursuit when it came out on ps3. The rest since then have been pretty bleh to me and while payback was not too terrible a game it didn't do anything to re ignite my former liking of this series. Up to the time payback came out i hadn't bought a need for speed game since that ps3 variant of most wanted came out.

Imo there is no OG NFSs. For some it's Hot Pursuit 2, Porsche Unleashed, High Stakes or older, for others it's UG, MW, Carbon.

I don't really have any hopes for the new one.

While it is highly subjective on when the series started going downhill, there is an OG NFS, It was called Need For Speed (1994).. Porsche Unleashed was the last OG NFS.  Hot Pursuit or whatever it was called that came out in 2002/2003 was the start of something new for the series, despite keeping the same title.

Carbon and Most Wanted are not OG Need For Speeds..  neither is Underground.  I remember all those games vividly, but even at the time realized that the era of NFS:3 Hot Pursuit and High Stakes was over; and thus, NFS never really was the same to me from then on.  Not to say that I didn’t like Underground, MW and Carbon or that they weren’t good, they were just different.  Much like going from 3D era GTA’s to HD era GTA’s.

Things are just different now.  Kids don’t wanna drive Corvettes, Aston Martins or Countach’s in illegal street races ducking cops. They want flying Bugatti supercars with rainbow slip streams and neon window trim with a lot of oooh and aaaah. This part I can’t blame too much on the developer.. times are different now. (Not a free pass to make crap games)

There is an OG NFS, it was called Need For Speed Underground...Carbon was the last OG NFS.

Carbon and Most Wanted are OG Need for speeds...so as underground. They are classics.

Things are just different now. Some dipsh*t insulting classic nfs AND THAT IS MOST WANTED AND CARBON. And same dipsh*t talking bullsh*t and acting like wanting supercars and customization is kid thing. Which is COMPLETE TRASH.

Underground 1 and 2 has customization. Most wanted and carbon has police chases. Those are OG(yes they really are)nfs's. Anybody who saying otherwise can gtfo and eat sh*t.

At first I was willing to give you the benefit of the doubt— because, ya know, opinions and stuff.

Classic does not equal OG.  I would delve into how Most Wanted is not OG because by the time Most Wanted came out I had been playing NFS for almost a decade, but that would just be too much for you to comprehend, huh troll? The rest of your post is laughable, so please, re-read your last sentence and take your own advice.

As for only visual customization, you are right, but police chases there from the very start, believe or not:).

Apart from weird og talks, worth to mention Pro Street, really liked it. Probably more that any post Porsche Unleashed games. Hope tuning will be deeper in new game, those drift/grip options with minimum impact on actual characteristics are dump. Developers can always make semi simulator physics in game, to them being adjusted for kids lately. This may be not attract serious auditory, but for sure will be good for those who looking for fun.

Hot Pursuit is what I'd call classic NFS tbh. Fast cars, great police chases, that's what NFS has always been about. The street/open world NFS games have varied from good to bad primarily I think because they constantly try and mess with that formula too much. IMO it's no coincidence that the highest rated NFS since 2002's Hot Pursuit 2 (at least going by it's PS2 score) is Criterion's 2010 Hot Pursuit. They're fantastic at making both track based and open world racers that are fun to race in with good chases and crashes, or rather they were cause f*ck knows what they're doing these days.

Lowkey shoutout for Shift as well, that was a pretty damn solid circuit based arcadey sim racer, but Slighty Mad don't ever disappoint making games like that.
