Yes, a new NFS is upon us. Only problem here is that ghost games is developing the game, so you can basically count on the game being sub-par. I hope they prove me wrong, but unless there is a drastic change in the handling model, I dont think the game is going to be any good. Hopefully this time an online freeroam option will be available from day 1, who knows.

Please just be street racing focused with Underground and Most Wanted vibes. It's seriously so easy to make another good Need for Speed. They need to stop moving so far away from the formula that everyone liked.

This seems to bring nothing new to the table compared to the last two games. Same graphics, seemingly same gameplay, assets being reused and the story really seems about the same kind of thing. I can't wait for mods to be gambling again...

It just doesn't have the same genuine "Need for Speed" feel. Maybe, since they seemed to merge several aspects of past games, this release might not be too bad.

 

But the trailer preview felt so out of place.

The Volvo as a hero car is an odd choice, but whatever. The car selection looks kinda weak, but I hope there's more to it than the same old same old. Don't judge a book by its cover and all.

 

The narrator is unbelievably annoying though, I couldn't stand her at all.

 

Will I buy it? Ehhh too early to tell, but I do, it definitely won't be full price.

 

I miss the old days of Need For Speed.

Won't be picking it up on release I'll tell you that much, after payback. The community manager on reddit mentioned there's a new handling model, but I still saw that brake to drift garbage. If b2d is still present, buying the game won't even cross my mind. We shall see.

It's like Pro Street at day and NFS 2015/NFS Carbon at night. Which is the PERFECT combo for me, and this is what I have been waiting for from NFS from the past 7 years.

The car variety and customization seems really nice too. The story is bound to be good since the guy who wrote the story for Arkham Knight is behind it.

 

The things that I'm dissapointed with is

1. Graphics (looks like the last few games) and 2. Handling (same as Payback).  

I don't care much about the graphics, but handling has to be good like in the old games. From the looks of it, it isn't quite there as it is still almost decade old brake-to-drift model.

NFS Heat looks pretty much like the previous ones, nothing really special stands out in it for the end of the PS4/X1 cycle  Probably can hope for a decent next NFS game when the PS5/xbox era begins.

I think I'm one of the few that found Payback to be alright. I did platinum that game and still don't know what the whole deal with the performance cards were about till this day, I hope they do away with it and get rid of those damn off-road races. Heat looks like pretty much the past two NFSs as already mentioned but do I enjoy the arcade style racer with deep customization so I'm looking forward to it. Since its being released worldwide on Nov 8th, I may wait till around black friday to get it since I made the mistake of paying full price on launch then seeing it discounted for around $20+ a few weeks later for the holidays.

EDIT: Forgot to mention, I think some type of celebrity will be playing that cop at around 20s, must be a reason why they blacked out their face for a surprise later, what do you think?

I found Payback quite good initially but then it kinda fell apart for me. Some of the missions were very annoying and the upgrade system made it such that you had to keep checking if you have a car that's too old or you didn't get all the upgrade parts to make it competitive enough. Cops were extremely obnoxious too compared to the tame cops in NFS 2015.

The black screen with the police chatter that the first half second of the trailer has was reminiscent enough of Hot Pursuit 2's intro cinematic that it was kind of a letdown that the rest of the trailer wasnt as cool as that

I'm not sure what I think about the game tbh. One hand it does look quite nice; Pro Street by day and street racing by night sounds p good. But its still Ghost Games and I found the previous 2 (3 if you count Rivals) installments just awful game-play wise. They've always felt more like art projects/screenshot tools than an actual racing game. I hate the mobile-like UI they put in 2015 and Payback.

 

I'll give them props for making a concise trailer. Got to know everything about the games theme and they even showed gameplay towards the end. The weird voice acting/dialogue kinda ruined it for me though, same as the previous games.

 

They've also mentioned that there's no MTX apart from a Forza-style treasure map, just DLC vehicle packs. In any case, we'll get to see proper gameplay at Gamescom next Monday. Hope they can finally "redeem" themselves

I don't know why I keep expecting a good racing from EA. Odd that the Polestar 1 is the cover car. And they got this guy I dislike to do wide bodykits for the cars. All the cars in the trailer are just a mess of liveries and wings. And, lastly, cars will drive like ass, looks basically like Payback. 

 

Oh well, might pick it up when it inevatibly goes on sale for 30 bucks.

Actually the liveries on AI cars are 10 times better than what they were in Payback. Hell, 2nd to Pro Street I would say. 

 

In other news, no microtransactions in any form on launch and supposedly not later. There will be DLCs however with cars and other content just like the old days.
