Is the r/Leakthreads developer leak real?

Referring to this post made by a deleted Redditor about 5 months back about a bunch of cut content and some of the development process behind Red Read Redemption II.

 

Sorry if this has been discussed before, I just haven't seen it posted around here that much.

 

I'm asking because I'm really not sure - on one hand, it's the internet, and specifically Reddit, which isn't known for having the greatest credentials when it comes to leaks for stuff like this. I'm not going much into this because the reasons are self explanatory.

 

On the other hand... this guy clearly put a lot of work into writing this post. 81 different pieces on information, plus more information supplied in the comments. He got a bit heated at times with some skeptics, but if he's legit, can you blame him? He spent a lot of time typing this post up about a company he no longer works for basically no benefit, as he's pretty much anonymous. Some of the stuff he wrote on the post is a little... out there, but if I'm being honest, for a game that was 8 years in development, could be very believable.

 

Also, it's been about 7 months out from RDR2's release, and none of the stuff in the post has actually been contradicted. If a PC version never comes out (very unlikely) then I guess that kills any potential validity of this post.

 

Thoughts?

Never proven as far as I know. Also that dude says "supposed to" about 60 times in that thread to the point that it's maddening lol.

 

Personally I'm going with fake. There's some things that sound really plausible, like some of the hunting and general life stuff that was cut because it was a bit too realistic and not fun, cause Rockstar openly talked about trying to find that balance. But then there's some supposed ideas/content that was cut that reads like some dude trying to think of some edgy sh*t that he thinks Rockstar would realistically entertain, especially stuff like the Sadie intro that he talks about.

Never trust any leak unless it's in the form of cryptic but logically solvable riddles

Fair point, his writing style was very really sketchy and almost seemed as if he wasn't confident in what he was saying. 

And yea, the Sadie stuff is kinda just... weird. Probably the thing that sticks out the most in that leak.

Some of that sh*t in there sounds absurd. Besides which way, we had real leaks concerning the game and its’ epilogue a looong time before the game was even announced that contradict the sh*t that guy spit out.

I remember when it came out back in november or whenever, everyone here thought it was bullsheet 

 

then recently someone shared it here and now everyone believes it (or at least a lot more people than before)

 

personally, I think it’s faker than a pair of vinewood tits because a lot of this seems like predevelopment white board stuff that only the Housers would know, but just like fake tits, it’s fun to explore and get lost in these “leaks”

That leaked reddit post keeps popping up, people can't stop talking about it...

Just because it slipped through the cracks and somehow got everyone talking over it doesn't mean there's a chance it's true. It isn't. It's all clearly made up. And that someone who made it all up probably has a smug grin on their face whenever they see online discussions discussing whether his fake post is true or not.

Hah, I remember when this first popped up. The first fifteen or so points sound kind of believable. Some of them a bit "ambitious" (not exactly the term I'm looking for, but all I can think of now) but you could see them being implemented, except maybe Arthur being bi. Then you get to the Sadie gang rape thing and yeah, no, it's all made up. Though the first time I read it I got a bit suspicious when I read "A large number of fish were also removed for being redundant or not fitting with the setting as they got rid of the sea. They didn't want you to have to spend an hour in the same region trying to catch one type of fish and getting bites from every other type of fish that shared the same bait preference and region," because I must have spent two or three hours finding a freaking Robin, and if they didn't cut that out they wouldn't do it to anything else like that, haha.

The entire thing sounds fake af. I read through it all just for entertainment and the guy was making sh*t up.

 

He talks about child abuse and how a child gets battered in the game or so but Rockstar themselves don't let you shoot the children in game so why would they even do something like that. Would it even contribute or add to the story at all? no.

 

Same with the KKK, they could have added more content regarding them, but what's the point. The current random events is fine as it is because it mocks them. No need to show any unneeded stuff.

Another feature mentioned is horse breeding. Arthur wasn't a rancher so why would that even be a thing.
