What is this trend with the llIlllIllIIlIIIIllIII name?

I join a lobby and guaranteed there's like 3 low levels (around 100) with this name, an insanely high K/D ratio who just go around killing everyone in-sight... What is this? They're in pretty much every lobby I join.

Standard Deluxe 59

They're the next generation of Try Hards, who don't quite try as hard as they used to since they just use whatever makes killing everyone easier. Nonetheless, you seeĀ it's all apart of the schemes and trials to join the "Try Hard Cult". First make your name nothing but I's and l's with a - or X somewhere. Then beef up dat KD cuz you gotta 1 v 1 The head cultist at the beach or base and he'll only fight KDs of 10 and above and fighting him is the ticket to joining the cult. Then comes the ceremonial RPG firing squad where 29 other cultists christen you into your journey with fellow cultists. Also white face paint and hair with joggers and invisible ankles are their dress code. They're fun people to piss off though.

The "barcode" usernames they have are probably so they can't be identifiedĀ incaseĀ their behavior in-game gets them recognized.

Ā

How sketchy some of these players can be; I will never know.

El Diablo 702

Just your try hard with the modded accounts. Ā Usually at about the 8000 rank w/ a kdr that is something like 12345 to 0 and funny enough their stat bars are usually empty.Ā

Yellow Dog with Cone

Barcodes are players who want to remain anonimous for several reasons:

Ā

- Seeing how tryhards are clout chasers, being a popular figure in the community could make you a target to them and their sh*tty "RIP exposed" videos. So in a ironic twist, tryhards themselves are more likely to become barcodes ti avoid being targeted by their own kind.

- Having an username made up of an indiscernible bunch of lines makes you harder to recognize among other barcodes. It also used to make manually reporting them harder back in the day, although that point is already moot because of most modern online games having a direct reporting system.

Ā

I wonder what could happen if you ran a barcode reader on their usernames, would it beep?

I just remembered that these videos exist.

Ā

Kinda surprising that they don't simply add "Not" to the end of their names.

It's just a part of this GTAO Tryhard sub-culture. When you see a "ooxX IIIIIIIIIIIII Xxoo" in the player list you know he is going to have the full uniform on, including the white gloves and shoes.

Ā

I troll the f*ck out of them, they hate it. I had a group of them wiggling up and down outside my house the other day all pestering me to come out, because I had bombed them in the Akula during one of their "1v1" beach dance parties.

Ā

When I see that they have dragged some poor sap down the beach for a wiggle party, I stand on the buildings in Vespucci and explosive snipeĀ them.

I think it’s mostly ā€œedgyā€ teens who are trying to look cool.Ā

Ā

They all have names like: Xx____xX, IIIIII, Z_____Z etc. They probably think it makes them look intimidating or something.

Ā

Then they all wear the same outfit; black helmet, face mask, body vest, trousers and boots.

Ā

Next they change their hair and eyes, white and red respectively.

Ā

Finally they go on huge griefing sprees. It’s just the try hard subculture in GTA Online.

Other than grinding cargo, trolling these guys is the main reason I log into GTAO.
