Rolling Block vs. Carcano.

I see so much praise for the Rolling Block Rifle. I have it too, and I like it as a sniper.

I remember in the first RDR, I always preferred the Carcano. Seeing as RDR2 pretty much copied the weapons from RDR1 I wanted to ask of the pros and cons of these two snipers.

Is the Carcano still preferable in RDO?

I prefer Carcano for it's fast reload time. Rolling block does a bit more damage but it doesn't really make much difference if you know where you aim. Carcano also looks much sexier than rolling block lmao.

BUT THE BENZ

yeah I thought about the carcano rifle aswell these days...got the rolling block since the beginning. I guess fire rate and reload time clearly speak for the carcano. the little less damage it deals shouldn't be significant if you place your shots properly. personally though, I recall Arthur having to make use of that rifle at a point in SP and for some reason I wasn't too cool with the handling and impact of the carcano. thus I never thought about that rifle much and was happy with my rolling block. still am, just wondering if the carcano wouldn't do the trick aswell...I guess fully upgraded it costs around 700 $...affordable

In most situations I prefer the Carcano. If you have money, get both though. I really like the long scope for the Rolling Block, and it seems best for the obnoxiously long range kills, but not as well rounded or as good for free aim fights. The Carcano works a lot better with a medium scope, and is a great all around sniper, just not as good with a long scope imo

The long scope lets you see further though, so I have it on both snipers regardless.

I like the looks of the Carcano more but at the moment I still prefer using the Rolling Block a bit more.

Carcano is my preferred sniper rifle. I never bought the Rolling Block so I can't make a good comparison.

I'm the other way around. I only own the Rolling Block. The Carcano rifles I've used are un-upgraded, stock versions in showdowns - so hard for me to fully judge.

I like the little extra damage that the Rolling Block has. That can be the difference between downing the enemy, or them surviving, and then they're alert and harder to hit. Especially with damage cards factored in.

I might have to give the Carcano a proper try some time, buy and upgrade one. But I like the Rolling Block for now.

Snipers in general are a lot more useful in free mode now, since defensive mode stops paint it black (which used to kind of ruin them there).

They are pretty much balanced... use the one you like.

I like the rolling for bears, moose, elk, Bison, etc.

I like the springfield for dear, rams, wolves, etc

I like the vermin for vermins... lol

I like the bolt action for humans

Don't need any of the others

I like both, used the Carcano often in SP.

But I just picked up the Rolling Block Rifle today. Got 10+ kills within 20 mins of owning it. Some bozo just wouldn't stop coming back for a fight.

Also this:

Think it's just a personal preference thing. Everyone gets turned on by different guns, vehicles, and occasionally humans.

The Rolling Block Rifle is my favorite, I like how you don't have to cock the Rolling Block in between rounds.
And I'm happy to accept the slightly lower fire rate for the extra damage of the Rolling Block as well

Rolling block for pvp.

Carcano kills in two shots and I find that once someone gets hit and sees how much health they lost they become erratic and run for cover.

Rolling block usually kills them outright or downs them so it makes never gives them the chance to recover
