If there's already a thread about this I apologize.

However.

I started playing the online about a week ago, and I was wondering if you have some tips and tricks to make money better/faster.

At the moment I just do main story missions, some PvP series and daily challenges for the gold. I occasionally go hunting and never fished, I just hope this is not the best way to make money, I'd be a little disappointed.

Thank you guys

Almostnasty

Welcome to the online! I hope you’re enjoying your experience so far. Check out “The Last Deadeye” on YouTube. The guy puts out daily videos that cover topics such as challenges, and various money making methods. It’s good stuff.

For reference, I’m currently level 172 in game and I grinded story missions for the most part till I reached level 100. Now, I understand not everyone has the patience for that, which is comepletely fine, but that’s what I did. Oh yeah and that was before the most recent update with the additional story missions that have been added.

I didn’t do much hunting, as I find myself getting burned out with that quick, although I do thoroughly enjoy it at times. PVP is also a very lucrative method for both money and XP. It’s also a great way to understand the gunplay mechanics of the game too. Have fun out there!

Hunting is very lucrative once you know the ins and outs

And skin whatever you shoot whether you plan to sell or not meat pay and skinning is hidden xp

Hunting is a good way to earn money, however, note that you get more out of skinning animals and turning in everthing, than just turning in the animal.

You also get a lot of money out of Big Game Meat, Whitetail Bucks, Cougars, Plumes and 3 star large animals(Grizzlies, Moose etc).

Also, Treasure Maps gives a good deal of money too, so remember to loot all enemy NPCs you kill.

And the drop chance of maps was increased in the last patch, so they are more common now.

Yep, just like CMCSAVAGE said: Huntig FTW. You can earn very much in PVP Series, but only if you always in 1 place (or atleast top 3). Huntig ist therefore the most constant method for averege players.

For me, the best way is to hunt the most u can, without looking at the quality of the pelts / carcasses. Quanity beats quality in my op.

^^^This, shoot everything. Also, while there's no limit to pelts you can store on your horse, your satchel does have limits. Most items max out at 10, some at 20 like pork and venison.

Also, say if you already have 10 Heron plumes, shoot 2 more but just store them on your horse and skin them after you sold the other plumes. You can make a lot in just high end birds alone (heron, egret, spoonbill, crane, pelican, owl, hawk, eagle, condor, vulture) You get more feathers/plumes the higher star they are.

Happy Hunter

Sorry if this counts as self-advertisement (mods can delete if it does) - this seems like a fitting video I made though.

I agree in regards to hunting. I always do a bit of hunting and gathering no matter what I'm doing or where I'm headed, but personally I find Lemoyne to be the best overall place for hunting and making a profit.

I spend the vast majority of my time within this area and the areas around it, but what I like to do is either start in Rhodes or up near Van Horn and work my way along the coastal areas and then into the Bayou; selling the pelts and parts in either Saint Denis or Rhodes and of course, picking herbs along the way. Bird hunting is excellent up and down along the shores between Van Horn and Saint Denis; you will find some of the more premium birds here and Egrets can generally be found a bit more inland - in the swampy areas in the heart of the Bayou. Also, be careful because alligators are plentiful in this region and they will often cause your horse to panic and you may easily become their dinner, but they're slow and you can take them down with a clean rifle shot to the head and load up on big game meat.

I stay fully stocked on big game meat in all varieties. It's essentially what I live off of and it works best to fill and maintain the health, stamina, and dead eye cores. Never buy meat from the butcher; if you're ever in need, just make a quick trip to the Bayou or along the coast and load up, cook, sell, rinse, and repeat. Make it a habit of using your eagle to eye to find the smaller animals to hunt and the herbs; oregano, creeping thyme, wild mint, Indian Tobacco, yarrow, etc are the best to collect. I also never buy tonics; I either make my own from the herbs that I've found or obtain them from looting corpses, buildings, non-player camps, etc.

When I'm not hunting, I usually do missions or stranger missions as I'm not really into PvP. Also, when doing stranger missions, depending on which kind they are of course and whether or not you're under the threat of being attacked, you can often make a bit more money by letting the timer run down a bit and taking advantage of hunting or collecting herbs while you're waiting.

Good luck! ☺

Gun Rush, not teams, is still the best way to make cash, gold and xp at the same time.   If there are alot of people, sneak around the edges, try to survive until 3 min, but really make past 5.  If you die, wait until the end, you get paid a lot. If you are alive, try to make the game last until 1 min because that maxmizes gold and xp, if you win...you will get around 40-50.  Right now, if you win  in the last minute with a decent lobby size you get +70.  When you host story missions, I think the pay out is better, but these can only be done once for a good payout...GR needs more players, so check it out.

Combining hunting/fishing with free roam missions is a good way to increase profits.

Since missions pay more the longer they run, I like to do most of the mission's objectives and then spend a good portion of the remaining timer hunting or fishing in the area, simultaneously gathering things to sell while raising the mission payout. Basically you want to be in a position to be able to quickly end the mission whenever you choose while you do your gathering. Stay in the vicinity of the final objective and when there's a minute or so left on the clock, wrap things up then head to a butcher with your load.

There's a risk/reward element to this strategy as the longer the mission runs, the higher the chance of other players interfering or a disconnection screwing you. Just be aware of your surroundings with the former, if you see a posse rolling your way it might be safer to just end the mission early. With the latter, there's not much you can do.

To add onto this, break down smaller birds as well. The value of the feathers and meat is worth more than the carcass.

Do dailies.

Stay away from poker unless you are a real Hustler.

Don't go overboard with buying clothes, ability cards and golden guns.

Go fishing. Ten steelheads sell for $20.

For the daily challenges yesterday I did posse biggest fish contest, it lasts for 10 mins, my god it was boring, how people can do it for hours to make money I have no idea.

some of us like the calm relaxing sounds of the water, catching fish, and winning $50 if you win

Hunting and fishing is the best way. With fishing, most of the small fish sell for $1 a piece and the medium fish sell for around $2 a piece. You can stack up to ten 10 of each. To carry more than 10 of the same fish, stand back just far enough away from the water that you can still cast the line. When you throw the fish back, they'll hit the shore and die. Just shoot them to lower the quality. It cuts the sell price in half but it's another 5 to 10 dollars per stack of fish you can sell.

Waste of time aiming specificaly at dailies,  you can earn far far more dollar xp and gold by doing strangers and hunting in between, Dailies can take far too long sometimes, Odd ones are quick now and again but if you do strangers and hunt you will most likely complet at least 50% of the dailies without even trying, They then become freebies.

Don't make the mistake of getting hung up over money. Please the game and have fun. Try everything and don't stick to the same thing otherwise you'll get bored. The money will gradually grow without you noticing.

I was interested to see how much I could make an hour playing in GR

Here is what I found.

I made 194.07 - 18 (3)chewing tobacco= 176.87

Start cash, 2802.01   End Cash 2996.07

Start Gold 214.86    End Gold  216.16

Start: 1:00 p.m.  I hit join from the online menu at 1:00

End 2:05

Map, #Players, place, $, gold, xp, time killed/left

FM,15, 1, 49.13, .3, 682, x/:50

TT, 13, 1, 40, .2, 558, x/1:38

HS, 22, 1, 53, .2, N/A, x/2:05

TT, 18, 9, 23.14, .3, 325, 7:20/:44

RH, 18, 4, 26.36, .3, 342, 3:30/:50

I also used 8 Potent Snake Oils, 1 Potent Health, and 1 Potent Biters, and 4 minty big game meats.  So, that takes time to craft.  There is currently a 25% bonus on GR $ and Gold payouts.

How much does the story missions net the second time you play them? I’m all for hunting, but the story missions are fun, and I kind of like Horley.

You get how much after first time?

Barely anything. I think like $10-20? Not entirely sure but I know I barely went up any money.

10-20??? That’s an insult! So it seems there’s no reason to play them at all after first time.
