Swamp Fishing Challenge

Can anyone explain to me how during the Swamp Fishing Challenge there's always some dude who seems to have no issues finding atleast 5 (sometimes even 8!) of the biggest fish, putting himself far ahead of everybody else while I run and swim across the swamp trying to find just 1 big fish?

I've won the river fishing challenge twice and lake once and now I really want to win the swamp one too but I'm struggling really hard.

I've been paying attention to the position of the top player every time but there doesn't seem to be a golden spot, they have been pretty much everywhere.

Please tell me there's a way to find more of these big fish other than running and swimming around like a nut.

It all depends on location, last time I did the swamp challenge I spawned in a spot with two large fish right in front of me and not a lot of people directly around me. I just caught one of the large fish and released it, it would swim over to a nearby tree and I would cast near it and catch it again, rinse and repeat. Ended up with 120ish pounds of fish, honestly it felt kinda lame cause it made it way too easy, when you release a fish it should swim rather far away instead of within recasting distance.

But yeah it was prolly a guy just catching the same fish over and over.

sh*t! I thought they would swim far away and then despawn, I never tried this!! Thank you so much!!

Good luck.

Good luck.

I don't see what's wrong with that.

I mean, what's the fun in running and swimming around like a nut.

Btw, do you have any tips in trying to get the damn fish to bite?

I often spent too much time trying to get the fish to bite.

One time I spent over 4 minutes trying to get a group of 4 big fish to bite, none of them would.

Aside from casting to where they are located and doing a slowish reel, when one of the ones I'm after gets close but not close enough to bite I'll flick the line once and then slow down my reeling a bit but still keeping it at a constant speed. If as you mentioned they're swarming but not biting I'll slow my reeling down to basically as slow as I can go and usually one will eventually bite but if not I'll pull the line in and recast to hopefully reset them. Sorry that I don't have anything more for you, sometimes it does seem like they bug out and just won't bite, I usually have to just wander to a new spot at that point.

This is impossible man, I feel like I'm cursed.

I had a good start, caught 2 fish, not the same ones. After that I moved to my right a bit (not even far) and saw 2 fish, but they slowly swam further away, I spent several minutes but I couldn't hook either one of them.

So I walked back to my original spot, and somehow there were 4 large fish, all close together and not far away from me.

It was down to less than 3 minutes and I knew I needed atleast 2 fish at that point so I knew I wouldn't make it.

I finally managed to hook one with about a minute remaining and I could have grabbed 3rd place, but the event ended just as I bend over to grab the fish.

I have honestly no idea how you manage to catch the same fish again.

For me it always swims far enough away so I can't see it with eagle eye.

My line might be able to make it there but if I can't spot it with eagle eye I could easily end up aiming for the wrong fish.

And from my position I would have to walk super slowly through water to find land close enough to the formerly caught fish.

It would simply be a waste of time I think.

And this time it wasn't the lack of big fish to find, halfway through they were no longer hungry.

And I also feel like that during the 2nd half of the challenge the top player suddenly is able to catch more fish than in the first half.

Maybe they spawn more large fish during the 2nd half I'm not sure.

I feel very unlucky.

On the other hand I feel lucky to have won 3 fishing challenges already.

So maybe it's just balance?
