If you wear a long tailed coat, it is very limited how much of the nacho saddle you can see. That's what I do

Hurts like hell after spending gold on both the Rattlesnake & Panther saddles, but the price IS comparable in gold. (23 Gbars) I liked the red & black enough to drop some Gbars for it.

I thought the same thing.

 

Then put a smoke and charcoal colored Nacogdoches saddle on my Missouri Foxtrotter and was wowed by how good the combo looked.

 

(The charcoal and red one looks decent too. Not traditional to be sure, but pretty attractive)

Yea the charcoal and red one looks the best for me, as my character tends to wear red anyway. Just don't like the fancy design at all.

Well, we can only save 3 custom outfits, so I guess that why it's messed up? Won't save a custom made outfit that isn't in the saved outfits?

 

It's really stupid the way they build the outfits stored on horse, as one slot is for current outfit, so techically you can have 5 outfits stored on horse, and wear a 6th. But as soon as you lose a hat for example it becomes a custom outfit and takes up one of the 5 slots removing one of the outfits from horse. That's why I store only 4 outfits on the horse and the 5th slot is for current/custom outift

Bought the Nacogdoches saddle too after reading here and watching that vid.

Put on Safety Stirrups (3rd ”best”, with 40% stamina drain rate as opposed to 50% for the best stirrups). Still get -75% stamina drain rate, and with increased speed and acceleration (btw; what’s the talk about speed being capped?).

 

Great purchase.

I'll probably change the saddlebags since even though it's improved, it only holds 3 outfits. But otherwise, as tentative as I was going with the Nacogdoches saddle looks wise, I really do love this look.

I like the Martinville saddle just by the looks. I'm willing to bet we'll see the improved versions of both the Martinville and Nacogdouches saddles near the end of the dripfeed. Also, yes this is a dripfeed that will likely last for 3 months

After using the Nacogdouches saddle for a couple of days I can say it's one of the most amazing things I've bought in the game. I'm using it with the best stirrups (they look a bit ugly but I can hardly even notice them apart from when I'm climbing on my horse) and the black Arabian. That horse never slow down or runs out of stamina. It felt like I was at full gallop for almost half of the map carrying someone else on the back last night and I looked at the stamina of the horse and it had hardly gone down at all. Thank you ALifeOfMisery for telling me about it.

 

They really need to do something about outfit saving. It's a complete mess. In GTA it was simple but even now I still have trouble getting outfits saved in Red Dead. First you have to make the outfit and then making sure you move it to your horse. Only being able to store 3 custom outfits makes the whole thing even more difficult. Why not just let you have outfits like in GTA and any of those saved outfits are available on your horse. I think 10 outfits would be perfectly ok. It's like they are trying to keep outfit saving and storing super realistic but with weapons they let you put every gun you own on your horse and more ammo than it could possibly carry.

Nothing about my horse's health seems to be working. The new saddle isn't functioning at all, & my Black Arabian cores are ALWAYS drained when I load up. ALWAYS. From EVERY CUTSCENE & MISSION. Stats ALWAYS say he's dirty & malnourished, & I'm getting pretty f**king mad about this. I've been through close to $120 in f**king oatcakes & 29,  TWENTY-NINE WILD CARROTS AND HE'S STILL MALNOURSISHED and loading EVERY TIME with depleted cores  ?????? WTF is going on Rockstar?

WTF is wrong with R* why is their first suggestion to always clear the cache? How badly programmed IS this game?

@Ronin OgamiIt's a bug. My gold Turk is affected. I spent too much money on it to discard it for nothing, and there's no guarantee that any replacement horse wouldn't be affected, so I'm keeping it in hope that the bug eventually gets fixed.

 

Luckily it's the only one of my five horses to suffer from this bug.

Horse core bug still not fixed thats why, Some folk dont suffer with it others still do 

 

Ive reported it 7 times now and all i get is "We are working on a solution" R* Dont give a flying f*ck about bugs im afraid

np - only thing is for 3, I believe the drain rate is slightly less with the Fugly stirrups, but you keep the same speed and acceleration. 

 

So it's $130 for better looking Stirrups and slightly increased drain rate, but equal speed and acceleration.

@boppa_ is right, for your 3rd question the stamina drain rate is -50% with the best stirrups and -40% for the 3rd best. It amounts to a total of -75% stamina drain rate for the 3rd best, and -85% stamina drain rate for the best stirrups.

 

But you get such an insane drain rate eitherway so I honestly think it’s hard to tell the difference. I got the 3rd best and I’ll never go out of stamina, especially if I’m tapping L3 to calm the horse every once in a while.

 

Question: can anyone clarify if speed and acceleration actually do get an increase? Because I hear people are saying ”speed is unaffected”, but that’s only true during races, right? Races have a cap and all horses get the same speed? (really stupid that is, but it is what it is)

This thread also convinced me. Had been using a Standardbred, but had wanted a MFT for a while. Splurged ~$1600 on new horse, saddle, and third-best stirrups. Seems well worth it so far.

You probably know better than me but, with the horse insurance do you get a replacement if your horse dies?  If so, might it be better if the horse had an 'accident'?

Yeah, you get a replacement without insurance, there's no permadeath, the insurance just means you don't have to pay the fee every time they die.

 

But, I hadn't though of killing my horse to see if that fixed the red cores. It's worth a shot.

Also the new saddle & stirrups aren't working at ALL for my horse, which happens to be the black arabian. And all my OTHER horses are fine.

Nacogdoches is a historic town in Texas. 

 

The silver saddle looks good on the black and white Foxtrotter. The stirrup slippers look ugly, but the end result counts. The stamina drain is almost non existent.

 

I got all the free saddle bags. I pressed the buy button too fast and I spent $140 on a saddle bag I will never use. The silver skull saddle bag is a great combo. 

 

It's great that I didn't have to spend gold on the saddle.

Yeah honestly I don't see why we don't have at least 10 custom outfit save slots and then like hats we should have to select which three we want to carry on the horse, the way it's set up now is dumb I'm constantly deleting outfits and making new ones cause three ain't nearly enough slots!

Would just like to add, If your horse is suffering the cores syndrome and is Malnourished this new saddle and stirrups will not work.

 

Your horse needs to be fully fit and no greyed or red cores when you enter online or bring from stable, if it’s head hangs low your f*cked lol

  While I'm still royally peeved, luckily I have my Turk as backup to the Arabian. Seems to work fine on him.
