INTRODUCING FREE ROAM MISSIONS FROM BLACK BELLE, SADIE & JAKE ADLER

She was always a badass and always knew how to handle a gun and that's exactly what she was trying to prove in the SP mission where she goes into Rhodes with Arthur

She did not want to be coddled. The group treated her like one of the other girls like Tilly and Mary-Beth. She had to force Arthur to take her, she went behind his back to get some proper clothes and to be honest...if she could impress a twenty year veteran Gunslinger and earn his respect I think she deserves her badass title.

On the upgraded saddlebags still not being able to carry 5 or 10 outfits instead of 3, R* should realize that more outfit slots mean more clothes purchased. It would for me anyways. The three slots are way too limiting and after all this counts as a bug too. Fix it, R*. Can’t be that many lines of code required either and it would do nothing to hamper the performance of the game.

Yep, I've pretty much stopped buying clothes because of this. Three custom outfit slots is too limited already, then one of those slots needs to be a cold weather outfit which further limits one's options. Don't get me wrong, I like that we need to dress for the climate, but there's no good reason for such limitations. Hell, just being able to save more outfits even if we could only actually carry 5 at a time in saddlebags would be a huge improvement. I like putting looks together but not constantly...

Sadie is one of my top 3 favorites also 🙂

About new stranger missions i have only seen the prison outbreak in Saint Denis, and a destroy supplies missions since last tuesday.

Hopfully they add more new missions this year.

Hopfully they have more plans for Sadie and her husband later at a time, something bigger.

I'd actually like it if this was how saved outfits worked.

Have 10 - 20 saved outfits in our wardrobe, pick 5 to carry with us. It would add to how I already play, choose a location, have in mind what I'm going to do on the way and when I arrive, but I'd also be able to take outfits that suited the climate and activities.

Just wanted to mention how I thought that Black Belle was a total badass when I played her story with Arthur. Also Arthur seemed to agree with me at the time.

Maybe its my thirties kicking in lol. But I saw her like a feminine version of Landon Ricketts. Experienced, wise, and lethal.

Of course Sadie's story and character arc are amazing. I always get emotional with that last scene when she kills the remaining O'Driscolls like a bloody animal, and then collapses in fatigue afterwards. You can feel the weight lifted off her shoulders. I think it was an awesome moment. Also the way she talks about her Jakie. Very touching, and 'heavy'.

I got the free tomahawk at the fence. But I can't see it in the weapons wheel. When I go back to the fence it's ticked off and greyd out. Is this some kind of bug or why can't I access it?

Are you looking for it in the right place? It's under throwables not melee

I have $600, is it worth buying the LeMat? Or should I wait for a sale?

I doubt we'll get a sale on weapons any time soon but I could (hopefully) be wrong. I thought the LeMat was worth the money I spent on it, I use it quite often

Unless we get something really special I think the LeMat would be my most used weapon. Love Revolvers and love the LeMat.

I have been telling the Sadie detractors this for months and months. She did not just become a "badass" after Jake died. She was always one. It is possible to have strong female characters without them needing a tragic event that made them badass. Women are not just delicate little flowers that sit meekly and do as the husband says until a tragedy befalls them.

They aint Sansa Stark

If you think the definition of a strong female character is being badass like Terminator, then good luck.

With that you forget the hundreds of little qualities men and women have that differentiate them. A woman is not strong when she can act tough like a man.

A strong female character in my opinion was Susan Grimshaw. She was the harbor for her family (the gang) and provided for them, looked after them, but also held the community together. She was strict, but also prudent and had manners. She brought some civility to the place (even though Dutch would never admit it).

Honestly I can't stand downgrading characters like Susan because she was motherly and a provider (because that's backwards and so conservative).

And at the same time bringing other female characters on a pedestal because they are essentially the better men now.

Why can't Sadie and Miss Grimshaw both be considered strong characters? They are both very strong in their own respects. Sadie lived her life not wanting to be considered "less than" and she pulled herself up from her bootstraps and did things most women would have never dared to do in that era. On a different side of the spectrum Miss Grimshaw is strong because she became a mother to a ruff and tumble group of outlaws and that has to be one of the hardest jobs out there. She kept the gang in line as best as she could and literally laid down her life for the ones she cared for most. As a woman, both of these ladies earn my respect, but Sadie's actions in the epilogue solidified her in my top 3. She cared for John as a friend and was there to help when he needed it most.

Apologies for going off topic so here's my 2 cents on the topic: I feel like Black Belle would have really benefitted from gunslinger duel type missions where we have to go after gunslingers and duel them. I really just want to be able to have duels in online

Its timed.

Being quick and efficient is rewarded now.

How do you mean? I mean, I get that they lengthened the timer, but they went way too far with it. It might be alright for some missions with long travelling distances but for the ones with short distances, the global signal goes off just as you're about to enter the yellow area which just isn't right.

And in that manner "quick and efficient is rewarded", sure, but you still get better payouts if you wait it out in the safe area, no?

Show me where I said that was the only qualifier. I can only go off the character we are talking about. Sadie is what I described therefore she is the strong woman in the situation.

Why pick fault with what I said when you say stuff like this?

Lets be honest, your idea of a "strong woman" is one that conforms to stereotypical gender roles but just does them in BAWS (Boss) way. My idea of a strong female character is one that f*cks those trends yet still keep her femininity. Sadie was as rough and violent as the next man but she didn't shave her head and start pissing stood up. She cried and have moments of tender weakness.

My idea of a strong male character is one that f*cks normal male stereotypes and yet can hold onto his masculinity. A strong character one that can blur the lines and not have it feel forced. Ripley from Aliens is one example. She was all action hero and never once did you question her femininity. She was just a f*cking Boss.

Now the missions come off as higher risk/higher reward. If you're looking for a quick mission with little resistance, get it done fast. If you want to go for a higher payout you run the risk of being ambushed

I don't think anybody will argue that Susan Grimshaw isn't strong in her domineering bandit-matriarch way, and she still knew how to use a shotgun pretty well.

I would argue that Sadie is actually driven by weakness throughout the main plot. We don't know much about Jake but he doesn't seem the type who would want to see her dedicate her life to vengeance. Her self-centred semi-suicidal rampages are a way to avoid really dealing with her tragedy. She wants an easy way out. When she doesn't find it after everyone involved in her own troubles is dead, she becomes a bounty hunter and takes up other people's. She's running the whole time, keeping others at a distance to avoid being hurt again.

... except, you don't run the risk of being ambushed? If you go for a higher payout, you get the mission done fast but you park outside the yellow area just like before and wait the timer out. The difference is that before the update the global signal would kick in almost immediately where it now kicks in (for some missions, anyway) when you are merely feet away from the safe area.

Edit/addition:

I feel like chiming into this Sadie/Susan gender conformative/non-conformative discussion and say this:

What makes a character interesting in my book (any character, ultra-male or ultra-female, or anything in between) is the level of complexity with which they are portrayed. I salute R* in making both Susan Grimshaw and Sadie Adler strong female characters but with wildly different personality traits, just like women are in real life, just as men are in real life - simply, just as real people tend to be.

Fair point. I think the point in was trying to get across it that even though you can sit at the edge of the marker to wait out the timer, other players still have the ability to come after you. Sure it's not much higher risk because you can either kill them quickly or just head into the marker, but it is still a little higher of a risk. But I do agree, I think they need fo find a middle ground for the timer

No, you can sit just outside the marker and run down the timer and no one can touch you, as long as you stay close enough to the drop off you are blur-faced to the world.

The other players can attack the objective timer is way too generous now, as previously stated. Most missions seems you can get done before it even activates.

@RaigeGames Wait. After the update, when I waited outside the safe area, I could've sworn I was invincible just like before the update? But maybe I'm mistaken, lol! Have they changed that so that you can now get attacked?? In that case I just had a sh*t ton of luck for not being attacked at that point! Haha

@DarkFlame588 Ok, so it's still the same then. *phew*

Well. Eitherway, they gotta balance these global signals, maybe make it so that they kick in when you're halfway to your objective, no matter how far that objective is. Or something. But for it to kick in 40 feet away from the safe area is just pointless and silly, in my opinion.

You are correct, I am mistaken. I forgot that if you sit close enough to the marker you are invincible

OnT: How does the new horse compare to Arabians/Turkomans/MFT's? Or is it more of a middle-range breed?

DarkFlame588

It is a lower tiered horse, same speed and accel stats as the base Hungarian Halfbreds, but with a bit more stamina and health. Turkoman is still the superior War horse.

Yeah, I'd say more mid ranged actually.

For me the risk comes from the fact that if I'm running down the timer, I'll be hunting or fishing in the meantime, so I need to stay aware if what's up. Only time I sit in the invincible bubble is if I wanna do something quick IRL.

Yes, that's a very real problem. I usually do missions with friends and then we take turns guarding the wagon/turning the hostage in or what have you, and the others go hunt or fish in the meantime. When I wait I'm usually texting or browsing my phone or whatever.

And of course there's always the risk of getting disconnected with 30 seconds left on the clock, though luckily that's become pretty rare lately, at least for me.

Just got my 5 gold bars for playing in a posse. I didn't think my posse of one would count.

Wait so being in a posse by yourself counts? Do you know if it has to he a persistent posse?
