People are getting banned for dupe glitches

Looking at all the videos, this was such an easy exploit. I highly doubt R* will do a damn thing. All you had to do was swap fish. I know people who accidentally did this because it was that easy. I don't blame the community for swapping fish on a horse for a few grand an hr, I blame the developers for leaving an exploit that simple in the game. Everyone has their opinions on this matter, but truth is, don't hate the player. Hate the game. As long as developers leave windows like this open, players will jump through.

I'll  try the 3star deer 2day, I was using a cougar and it dupped once then disappeared so maybe I was off my timing. It's one of my modded gtao accounts so I'll have some to catch up to.

 

I have to switch sessions alot to reset the glitch every now and then so good luck on the griefing :^] 

 

I mean it's stupid easy glitch I have to shake my head laughing.

I'd love if more people would be mature like you. Anyway back to my opinion... I think it's a bad thing the game revolves around grind, as with GTAO R* screwed with the economy by giving players who have money (shark cards, grinders, modders) those tools of absolute chaos. Same with RDO and explosive ammo and magic cards or whatever, I was a grinder myself but I just don't see the fun when grinding anymore. If the economy worked like in rdr mp it would solve all these issues. It was simple - people with more experience had better weapons, characters, mounts and low level players could unlock for example explosive rifle by clearing a hideout. But now it's all in favour of people who purchase gold bars, the best mounts and customizations are locked behind them, you can bypass most of things by paying gold for them. And I have like 10k from the exploit and have 0 intention to buy some stupid explosive ammo pamphlet or whatever, don't even wanna purchase any card, I just saved money to be able to purchase any overpriced thing they roll out in the next update. Like I don't care at all about money, I just wanna have some fun.

If the developers made a mistake and allowed and didn't fix such a simple glitch (swapping fish) for days without publically communicating the consequences that doesn't require cheating, hacking, griefing or any external means, than a ban or even a money reset is not the solution.

 

First of all it's the fault of the developers that a glitch this easy and obvious, everybody can stumble opon, is even possible. Second, they didn't communicate with the community or outlined any cobsequences. Third, it already exists for days and isn't fixed yet. Remeber the past duplication glitcherd weren't puniched.

 

So all in all the sentiment that these people should be banned for life is very stupid and lacks any thought. Simply from a business standpoint it is stupid to ban a core audience at a beginning of a product lifetime. I know many of my firndlist who used this glitch that already bought gold bars and have a high rank.

 

EDIT: And why didn't Rockstar copyright strike the YouTube Videos that generated thousands of clicks promoting this glitch (JStone, TagBackTV etc...)

At the beginning of Red Dead Online Beta R* outlined in a newswire they will copyright strike these videos. For months none of these videos were copyright striked.

 

And suddenly people wonder why so many did the glitch.......

Well as I mentioned in another post in the past is that I despise having such a system since the developers are motivated to sabotage their own game and make it revolve around the grind. Actively keep it from reaching its full potential. Producing nothing but boring, repetitive trash. While the old system of DLC packs gives them reason to produce the best content possible that would entertain for as long as possible, otherwise they get no money. They will make money, sure, but it pales in comparison to what they're making right now from those who lack any sense of restraint. When provided a choice between making some of the money, and all of it, they will always choose to make all of the money.

 

People argue against it by saying it splits the community but this is not true. This may be the case for games like Battlefield and Call of Duty, whose DLC all consists of new maps. Games like GTAO and RDO however has one map and only ever has one map. No one is ever split. Its why someone rank 1000+ with everything they desire would still be put into session with a Rank 1 who has nothing but the clothes on their back, a pistol, and a car. They would only get locked off from certain missions and access to certain vehicles. However during free roam, all of them would be able to interact with one another.

I'm pretty sure ppl were banned at the beginning of gtao. The players who made billions of dollars and handed them out to random players.

Also gtao rapists definitely was banned. I know it wasn't a money exploit but you just said glitchers

Well, it seems this thread ended up like how most other topics about glitches end up in the GTAO section. Personally, I don't feel as though where or how other players obtain their money is any of my business. I mean, I understand the concerns about how overdoing it could potentially damage the structure of the game and so forth, but if people see an avenue to make quick and easy money, many will likely take it without much thought, regardless of the risks involved. It is, however, just that - a risk, so it shouldn't come as a shock if measures are introduced to stop or punish it.

 

I do think an outright ban seems a bit harsh though, but that's just my opinion and especially if its their first time. However, that's not my call or anyone else's to make, but like others have stated, R*'s anticheat system doesn't exactly have the best track record, so I'm a bit sceptical as to whether or not it will work so well here. Only time will tell.

 

I'll also say that while I've personally chosen not to take advantage of this or anything else within the game that involves glitched money; in my opinion, the economy as it stands  is far from being perfect here - especially considering the prices of say the recipe pamphlets, ability cards, and even certain pieces of clothing and what most things pay out in return. I mean, it was a bit too much on their end when they nerfed the prices of what the butcher offers for certain animals/parts and the like, but I've tried hard to just move past my feelings in regards to this and other things of that nature and just try to enjoy the game for what it is now that it has made improvements elsewhere and is finally out of beta.

 

I guess I'm a bit more live and let live; there will always be someone to ruin something for someone else and there are always going to be flaws within the game's design and future additions that make it all seem a bit unfair, but I'm not going to damn anyone for taking such a risk - like I said, it's really none of my business and there's nothing that I myself can do to stop it; even if I wanted to.

 

When it comes to exploiting god modes and the like and using it to grief or gain an extreme upper hand against other players in all regards; I feel very differently and think that partaking in such warrants a long and potentially permanent ban. Either way, I feel that some people are going to find ways to grief no matter what happens; thankfully it's not happened to me since the update, but who knows what the future holds. I suppose I'm more concerned with that as opposed to people cloning fish or whatever for some quick cash.

Lol I remember those days, you never knew when some naked dude would magically appear behind you for some surprise butt sex. O_o

It even made it on the news in some hilarious news segments from people taking it very seriously.

That is right, I got banned on one gtao account for glitching my modded account $ to my other not so modded account, got banned + wiped even though a glitched everything back lol

Banning only happen when hack/cheat involved. doing game glitch/exploit only limit your daily number of selling duped cars.

I've been duplicating vehicle since 14,never heard once that duping result a ban.

Wildcard could teach R* a thing or two on that subject.

Players in Ark would dupe dinos and highend gear and if they got reported, a Wildcard GM would enter the game and check their dinos ID and then delete everything that tribe owned with a single command.

That could be years of intense hard work, including dino breeds that would've kept players from sleeping for days at a time to feed their precious babies lol. Brutal but fair.

R* should just delete the characters completely.
