People are getting banned for dupe glitches

I've never really cared where other players get their in game money from, grinding, bought, glitches, doesn't matter to me.

 

I tend to think bans and suspensions are harsh, just take the money out of players accounts.

 

If this is the road R* are going down, I hope they get it right and we don't see countless innocent players being banned or suspended.

Good, honestly. A year ban is harsh (forgot it's not 2018 lmao), they really should just be wiping first offenders or removing their duped gains but allowing duping to unpunished is going to hurt the game long term. It f*cks the economy up and will mean legit players get punished.

If they do nothing though its a green light to do it as much as they want. They'll get bored and start griefing as there's nothing to do

If R* get it right and we don't see the false flag ban waves we've seen in GTAO on PC then I have some sympathy for those getting banned, but they rolled the dice when glitching money.

 

R* have rarely done bans well in GTAO in the past though, which makes me uncomfortable about this approach.

 

Money wipe would have been my preference.

It should not be difficult at all for them to figure out who has duped and who has not. They can track all that type of stuff, just find who has sold impossible high amounts of fish/pelts in one go and Bob's yer uncle. False flags in this situation would be very weird.

It shouldn't be hard, I completely agree. Just like it shouldn't be hard to track the players who have sold hundreds of Elegy Retros but we all know how that story continues to go.

 

E: Is anyone else finding it odd that even though the glitch has been reported as patched, and given how widespread it's use seemed to be, that this isn't all over Reddit etc. by now?

They're probably past the point of no return with GTAO, they let it go unpunished too long so if they started handing out bans now it'd be a bit unfair I guess. Just guessing though. RDO on the other hand just left beta, if they don't want RDO's economy to get f*cked by stuff like this they have the chance now to stamp it out early.

I got that picture from 4chan. I saw a pic of someone having 1000 fish in his inventory, so a lot. Low key glitchers didn't get banned.

I was wondering if they were going to do something about it this time around.

Now, I did have the dupe happen to me, but it was by accident, and it was only 1 fish. Hopefully I do not get banned... I'm going to go check real quick!

That weak pic isn't enough for me to believe that players are being banned.  I'm on ps4 and know of over 10 people doing the fish glitch, many posting pics with over 1000 stored on their horse before selling.  None of them have been banned.  The pic was probably taken by a modder on PC.  Also, it would be big news on youtube etc if players were getting banned.  Happy glitching everyone

Personally I feel like a month suspension is a bit much for duping animals. While I agree that abusing game mechanics should be punishable, I think a money wipe would have been better in this situation. 

 

I guess to each their own, at the very least I hope the game is finally more stable now that they fixed the glitch.

Does anyone remember what happened when these same type glitches were rampant on RDR1 OL?  Folks, it ruined the game for months at a time.

Fish glitch is still very much active, Ive just left a session where loads are doing it and ive just run thru how to do for a mate and he is still doing as i type

Having everything would take the fun out of the game for me. I love the challenge of struggling to prosper. You can have it all, but you'll probably just get bored and quit eventually.

Appreciate the heads up. Unsure what tips them off as I know a few people who haven't gotten hit yet. 

 

A ban is the best case scenario because it's only a month and Red Dead is a grind anyway, so it's not like one is really missing much other than the gold bar per rank up limited-time offer. The game at the end of June is more or less going to be the same as it is now, so how big of a deal is a few weeks off in reality? A money-wipe would be worse. The ban (without a money wipe) at least allows the offending player to keep the cash. This way one can glitch as much as they need, risk the ban (hopefully squeeze thru) and if they get hit just play something else for a month and enjoy the extra cash then.

Good to see them do something about it. Kinda makes me suspect these glitches had something to do with the empty worlds of the weekend. Otherwise R* wouldn't ensue such bans. A month may seem a bit harsh, but abuse should be punished, one way or another and should by no means be encouraged. Do the crime, do the time.
