Wahoo! I'll try and get my P4 up to 3.0GHz by saturday. So far I've only had it up to 2.8 without crashes, at 2.9 it either BSODs after login, or fails to notice that I have a hard drive. As i said before tank if you can increase the sig size to 550 then that would help, but you don't have to, i could always implement the folding idea into my current OGA sig. Hey i got a great idea! Then each of the gangs could post thier aggregate score for all thier gang members in thier sig or something. It would be great competition and added prestige if your gang has the highest folding score. Great way to show the relative strength and participation of each gangs members. Give some chuckleheads a reason to fold besides just doing it for a good cause. And everyone would still be on the same forums team so it would all be for the good of the forum. Tank, this would be a great thing to present to potential advertisers on the web site as well (but please not the pop up ones). I called my sister again, and here's some of the scoop. There's a guy who writes a weekly feature on the internet, he just kind of reviews cool sites and what's going on, you know how it is almost every paper has one. She thinks he is syndicated, but she doesn't know exactly which or how many papers his column is in. Basically if it gets mentioned, it would be a few lines to a paragraph or two in his column so its not going to be headline news or anything. She thinks it may take a few weeks, doesn't really know the time line thing. She said she's not supposed to tell me this even, and won't tell me his name, because she said feature writers get bombed with ad spam and begging to be written up by sites if they find out they are under potential review. I'm not even going to write about it anymore, so if you have any questions or what have you then PM me. But I will immediately let everyone know if it goes to print. ViperGTS-R Posted April 25, 2003 Share Posted April 25, 2003 Right, ive also put this on my other PC which is an 800mhz wont be as fast but its something i havent appeared on the list yet but ive got like another 15% before i complete this work unit (i think) i will appear on the list then, though on this machine (my 800mhz it probably wont complete for another week aor so, ive had it since lunchtime today and its now 10:15pm and its now 23/100 - ohh! now 24! ) Oh and tank yes! do send a mass PM thats a good idea my estimate is that probably 50% of active members will join, there are 29644 members... about 17,000 come online regularly, the average processor speed is brob 1ghz.... so thats 17000/2 = a total of 8500ghz! but thsi of course is probably completely wrong but still.... if everyone on the forum joined the team then that would be a significant number of people and processing power but even if 1000 people joined the team.... thats around 1000ghz a mass message would be a good idea Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I saw Viper's estimate, but I really don't think we have 17,000 regulars (it'd be nice though). I'm guessing there are about 500 active a week, maybe more or less. Being just for a good cause probably isn't enough of an incentive on it's own, so I can see a wave of mass recruiting efforts by all gangs if we can get gangs rivaling for 1st place. Although, I'm definately encouraging all non-gang members who don't want to join a gang to help out as well. EDIT: Ah crap, I forgot to include all the unofficial gangs to the list. You guys wouldn't be your own *separate* team, you would be folding under team 32093 - with your name as "The Precinct" or whichever gang you were. You wouldn't be able to track your own personal stats, but everything would still work out the same. You would just end up with like 40 processors folding for one name. Hey i have a 801 mhz and it only takes me 7 mins and 3 secs to advance a frame, but i was only running word at the time. Try this: Press Ctrl+Alt+Delete and get rid of everything except Explorer, Systray, FahCore_65 and some others that you might need. In other words close everything apart from the stuff u KNOW u need.
