mike39
Well, I recently passed 15K I believe. I was folding at about 1200 points per week, but for some reason - I've dropped down to barely 500 a week. Production is way down, and I'm too lazy to figure out what the problem is - but I'll fix it soon. I need to break 30K before Christmas...

Matt.
I just finished my third WU. At first I didn't feel like doing this (too complex looking ), but after taking into consideration my loss of family to cancer, I had to do it. So yeah, I encourage others to join. (slowly though) its enough to make me paranoid enough to make me swich on my powerful pc earlier in the morining what specs do you have? (only the specs that count, (CPU, Memory and Data-Bus, everything else doesnt make much diff) mine is: PC1: AMD Athlon XP2100+(cpu), 512 333mhz(ram), 333mhz(FSB). PC2: AMD Athlon XP2000+(cpu) eveything else is same as PC1. Edited October 19, 2003 by -Viper-
lesfleanut
You should just leave your PC's on 24-7. It takes more power (and more stress on the components) to boot a PC than it does to run it for like 12 hours.

Uh... if, when the PC is on, it's running F@H at full CPU load, the additional stress caused by bootup would be negligible. It'd only be less stressing on the components if it were just idling. Wouldn't it? In easy to understand words: Folding make computer go hard. Edited October 20, 2003 by Edwards sysnode.org
lesfleanut
It's not CPU stress that the system suffers during boot, its a surge of electricity.. a problem that isnt help'd by all these people buying cheap PSU's these days.

Matt.
Yeah, it's the contribution that really counts, and 'Every little helps.' As mike stated, it really depends on the size of the proteins you fold, and that can't really be changed to my knowledge. I'm on 99%

Daz
I just finished a WU and now I got another for the same protein. Is there something wrong? No, most likely everything is fine. We're studying the dynamics of a few proteins, so you're likely to get the same protein to work on multiple times. Each WU gives us additional information about the dynamics of that protein, so it is important to us. Indeed, if we did only 1 WU per protein, we would not learn very much. It seems that it does what it feels and does the same WU , i looked in my folder and found 8 of the same WU, well if its still the same in a month or two im going to seek help.
