I got a question though, did you follow the guide on the front page of this topic that I wrote, or did you just download the graphical client that mike39 mentioned? Also, is the client version you downloaded 3.24? The reason I ask is that you guys (renatoe, Sl1pkn0t) said you had 1/400 so far. The WUs with 400 frames are called Tinker and go very slow. Yes, there is a way! And this goes in conjunction with what I'm telling renatoe and slipnot: Step 1 Go to your startup folder, for example: C:\Documents and Settings\All users\Start menu\Programs\Startup Step 2 Right-click on the [email protected] shortcut and select the Shortcut tab. Step 3 In the target box add -advmethods to the end of the target path. It should look similar to this : "C:\Program Files\[email protected]\winFAH.exe" -advmethods Step 4 Reboot your computer and you should get Gromacs core WUs most the time after your current WU finishes. Step 5 If you start [email protected] from any other shortcut, make sure you have -advmethods at the end of the target line in that shortcut, otherwise -advmethods won't be enabled and you'll keep getting Tinker core WUs. EDIT: I'd also reccomend using the 3.25 beta version, download here. This beta version already has -advmethods enabled so you don't have to worry about enabling it. It also has a few other optimizations that will boost the amount of points your computer can generate a week. Instructions on how to set up the Windows console version are on the front page. It's also neccessary to hide the console window unless you can stand having the consloe window minimized on your taskbar all the time. Step 1 - Download a program called HideIt X here Step 2 - Unzip the download and cut and paste the unzipped folder to the same folder as [email protected] or anywhere you want. Step 3 - In the folder there is a file called HideItX.exe Right-click this file and select Create Shortcut. Step 4 - Cut the new HideItX shortcut (right-click > cut) Step 5 - Now go to the All Users Startup folder: My Computer > C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup and paste the new shortcut. This will start [email protected] no matter who is on the computer. Step 6 - Now right click on the shortcut and and select the Shortcut tab. Find the Target: box and copy and paste the following line into the target box: "C:\Program Files\[email protected]\HideItX\HideItX.exe" -starthide c:\Program Files\[email protected]\FAH3.25-Console-Beta.exe NOTE: If you installed the client somewhere else, make sure you have the correct path to the FAH3.25-Console-beta.exe or it won't work. Step 7 - Reboot your computer then go to your [email protected] folder and open the file FAHlog.txt. Scroll down to the bottom and you should see something like this near the bottom: --- Opening Log file [June 20 09:29:29] # Windows Console Edition ########################################################################################################## [email protected] Client Version 3.25 http://foldingathome.stanford.edu email:[email protected]################################################################################################################################[09:29:29] Configuring [[email protected]][email protected][/email] If so, [email protected] is up and running in stealth mode! If not, retrace your steps and make sure you have the correct paths listed in the target box. NOTE: Do not use -advmethods with this beta version of [email protected] as it is built into the beta version. I think we're doin good. top 200 is the best i've ever done in anything. I didnt even make the top 200 in my kindergardern class..... and we only had 15 people in the class.. hey! wait a minute..... ohh nevermind.
