Character drops pelt automatically.

Ok, I killed an elk up in the grizzlies. Half way to the butcher I dropped the pelt. I picked the pelt up, but my character automatically drops the pelt. This happens every single time I attempt to pick up the pelt and place it on my horse. Has anyone else experienced this? How can I fix it?

Yes had that since update also had a bug where you cannot lay a pelt on your horse and it vanishes into thin air

ooo...For me it is the carcass' falling off of the horse.  The first time I saw it all I could think was "there is a potential carcass dupe glitch here"

Had an instance last week before the update where I couldn't pick up a cougar carcass. As soon as I'd pick it up my character would put it right back on the ground. I kept trying and eventually was able to pick it up and put it on my horse

This is the exact problem I am having. I ended up just ditching the pelt. I'll assume that Rockstar attempted to address/patch the carcass duplication glitch, and probably introduced a bug to pelts in the process? Just a theory, but it is possible. I've never messed with the duplication glitches, so if this bug is a result of an attempted fix, it's sad that the actions of some is now affected many. I'm all for Rockstar fixing exploits, but introducing bugs in the process makes it obvious that the patch testers weren't thorough.

I wouldn't think this problem is a result of the duplication glitch? I've picked up many pelts and carcasses and this was the only time this happened. Just my opinion though, I don't know how game design works lol

I wasn't suggesting this problem was a result of the duplication glitch, I was saying "what if" Rockstar attempted to fix/patch the duplication glitch by coding something into the pelts/carcasses, and it the process accidentally introduced this bug. It happens a lot in games. Devs attempt to fix problems while at the same time unknowingly causing new bugs. This is all theory though, but if any of the devs lurk around here, it might be worth looking into.

This has just happened to me with a perfect elk pelt. After repeatedly picking it up and putting it down again i raged and threw a fire bottle at it... To my surprise it seemed to fix it for me...not sure if it was a coincidence though lol

Same thing still. I had a perfect moose pelt and a three star cougar carcass and I out one on my horse and ran with the other on my shoulder to blackwater and as soon as I neared around the bounty board, it automatically dropped. I tried and tried and tried but to no avail. Eventually after so many tried is started moving towards and alley and touched a Lawman. My cougar fell of my horse and then they started shooting me. I wasted a good 20 minutes 😩

That happened because you went near a mission area.

If you do that while carrying anything, you drop whatever it is. So take a wide berth around such areas, otherwise, that happens.

My avatar drops anything near a bounty board. Also my avatar will drop a fish when at a certain spot in Lagras.

Yup. I've experienced this near the fence at Rhodes, Sean MacGuire's tent and the bounty board at Blackwater. The solution? Move forward a little bit at a time when you pick up the pelt or carcass. Keep nudging yourself in a straight line. It might not feel like you're moving at all, but eventually, you'll become unstuck.

Yeah, there's a spot around a cougar spawn that does this too. Pain in the butt but taking the time to "inch your way" will pay off.
