Wow, I literally grazed a passing rider, both on our horses, with neither of us even sent off course let alone falling off our mounts...and I get medium hostility. Haha...Think it needs a lil tweaking. 

 

Otherwise feels nice being back in the game. Glad the update has reinvigorated the community. I've seen a huge turnaround of opinion across the social medias and other forums like Reddit.

Well this is interesting development although excuse my cynic but I find it very interesting timing/marketing that R* decide to make a big update adding some elements to RDR II that actually have got my interest to play the game and lo and behold

it's on it's best ever deal in the PlayStation store at the same time? 

 

So my question I guess is for any of you who've played it as it was and were asked the question from someone thinking of buying the game for the first time would you recommend I start now or should I hold off a bit yet?

 

You all know hopefully that I'm well used to what to expect given how long I've been around GTA Online?

I'd say it's worth it to get into the game now. You can get started and get your character established and get some cash/gold flow in before the next update

Land of Opportunity missions not showing up anymore...? 

 

I played the previous mission with friends last night and we wanted to carry on with the new ones but they're not showing up for any of us. Unless we must complete the low honor missions as well? I completed all of them months ago so I really can't tell if that's the reason or just the game being broken

Nice to see that Online is finally out of Beta.  Unfortunately after reading the patch notes, I didn't see anything about being able to either sell, or trade in our horses for new ones.  Garbage.  Can we finally launch the story missions on our own, or is it still forced with randumbs?  Last question but prolly more for the SP section, did they finally fix most of the bugs that prevented the compendium being 100%?  I've been holding off doing another Story Run cause of that.

That is all. This is very much a GTA:O MKII in every way.

The only complaint I have is the style of play doesn't stay on..For example, I put mine on defensive and everytime I load the game I have to go on that option once again.

If you possie up you can play with friends but I think its still minimum 2 players.....

After the update I haven’t been attacked once, apart from when a posse tried to sh*t all over my mission and failed (I was solo) and the time my buddy got targeted for player assassination being under my posse. I play offensive.

 

I’ve met so many people in towns, everyone being friendly or at least they’re not aggressive towards me.

 

And the wilderness is so void of other people’s presence that I’ve often had to check the player list to see if I’m alone in the session, but no. Full sessions.

 

I really don’t see the similarity between this and GTAO in terms of free roam being a PvP warzone (not anymore anyway, maybe at the start I did). It’s almost come to the point that even I feel it’s TOO quiet in sessions. Almost!

 

It’s quite perfect how it is now IMO. It should feel exactly like this. If offensive, there’s always the threat of danger but the stakes are higher - people don’t just shoot without thinking. Everyone seems to choose their fights more carefully.

 

But maybe it’s just a fluke, or people are occupied with the new update that makes them/us so friendly. I don’t know. Just wanted to share these thoughts!

Dunno if it is common knowledge but don't want you to miss out on this awesome feature for the LeMat.

There's a new option, under combat settings i think, "auto switch pin" or something..  

It makes the LeMat automatically switch ammo when you've fired the last shot of an ammo type.

So if you've chosen to fire the shell, it automatically switch to revolver

I have had a change of heart.

Story mode is an A+

RDO was a giant F for me before the last patch, however now I see it as a solid B+.

Once this summer rolls out the new character roles, I think it will be a solid A.

It's hit and miss in some sessions. Sometimes it's all friendly waves without getting shot a second later, sometimes the map is crawling with pink or red dots. Most of the times you can go about your business without being bothered. In most of the sessions I've been in since the update, there is always that one idiot trying to rampage (and failing horribly).

Had one player trying to crouch punch me, which didn't work out at all, since I was sitting on a bench at the saloon. Waved at him a few times and he left. 

 

Yesterday I rode out the stables on my own horse, got an eye witness for horse theft message, killed the witness and the witnesses of the murder of the witness, but nothing happened after. I was still in Defensive Mode and able to leave the scene hassle free.

I find that the moment that people realise they cant instantly lock-on and shoot you they move on.

Just dont get with in shotgun range of people and you are good.

Fair enough, blackjack and all RDR minigames would be cool to see. Anyway, we each like what we like, have different tolerances, experiences, and see things differently of course. Enjoy it guys.

 

That's unfortunately not my experiences though Dr.Rosenthal, you describe the day of the DLC well and it was bliss, I was very positive then. An awesome session. Not since though but like I said, if you guys enjoy the game, good stuff. I'm not here to kill others enthusiasm, and I'm trying to be polite/fair as the game has just survived being snapped up today so I am a bit frustrated to put it mildly, lol.

 

I was more talking the game as a whole mind you. I saw the beta tag go and, stupidly, had expectations much would be fixed or that the PvP would grow up and be better balanced throughout, if this is a 'complete game' then this is very much another GTA, not just a beta phase but a near full 6 months, lol. (Enter error number xxxxxx whatever here). I'm getting the same old sh*t but now with more blue, and some red dots around wherever I go, everywhere. Ok, I'm not dying straight away all the time now but it's still anoying, am at times though which confuses me and pisses me off a bit. But my horse gets to plenty it seems, three times today alone!!!

 

I spawn in up north in the snow looking for a quiet spot on the border south, and within 5 minutes, folk every turn. (Does take immersion away but I could live with that if left be). I'm just vexed I still can't indulge this game after a week really of trying to, and each time it's just reminding me of GTA in that if the players near me aren't out to stiffle my game, R* are right there to take over. (When it comes to public only pap there, but I can forget about businesses and enjoy the rest of the game).

 

I'll take a knee and leave be. Maybe it'll cool down after the DLC wares off (though I expect folk will get bored and the killing grow again). It took all my energy not to snap the damn disc earlier anyway which is never good, any game that brings that out in me really can't be recommended.

 

GTA had the odd moment of frustration, but never have I felt so stressed playing, I can't stand that 'always switched on' feel. Bad for my chrones. Anyway, seems I'm just ranting at a game clearly not for me, many aren't. Ahh well, shame it's an R* game but the writing's been on the wall for a while now.

Since the patch I have had 1 player try to kill me, just 1. He failed and left me alone after about 45 seconds.

And this was in downtown blackwater where you can always find a fight, AND I had just logged on and my defensive mode wasn't activated until just before he tried to kill me, so I am sure I was offensive when he first saw me.

I appreciate the kind offer, but I'm on PS4. Thanks though. (Though I do like to play a good mix of alone and co-op which has caused friction before with others so I'm reluctant to posse/crew up properly and just mix with buddies as and when).

 

Hopefully things will calm down (and I know I will too), and I'll be all fun and games again. I do hope the game grows and becomes what it could be but I'm struggling to see it atm though my bad mood makes that easier I don't doubt.

 

Looking back, I shouldn't have answered the question from above, lol. Weather the game is good or bad is only personal preference and whatever I/we say is just gonna swing it one way or another and could prove wrong either way too. If I say it's crap but he loves it, oops. And vice versa, if someone says it's good and he dislikes it, oops again, lol.

 

But to be fair, I have read more positive experiences elsewhere, more so than pre-DLC, so I'm thinking it's just not a game for me. Thanks again for the offer Smokewood.
