WELCOME TO AUROA

Somewhere in the South Pacific lies the remote Auroa Archipelago, a vast land of diverse biomes that range from lush rainforests to snowy peaks. Now, it’s home to Skell Technology, an enigmatic technology giant. Initially interested in a remote testing site for its autonomous drones, the Silicon Valley company eventually turned Auroa into its “World 2.0,” a high-tech, high-security utopia of sustainable eco-cities and robotics research.

Explore a diverse and mysterious open world ranging from barren deserts and dramatic fjords to futurist cities and arctic peaks. Featuring 11 unique biomes and home to Skell Technologies this remote Archipelago will challenge the Ghosts like never before. Use the environment to you advantage as you disappear into a jungle canopy to evade your foes or jump into a vehicle and charge into battle by air, land and sea. A seamless co-op experience means your squadmates can jump in and out at any time.

Face your deadliest enemy yet, The Wolves, former Ghosts who have betrayed their country. Led by the charismatic Colonel Cole D. Walker they have taken control of Auroa for an unknown purpose. Now in control of Auroa’s powerful drone technology The Wolves and their allies will hunt you mercilessly across Auroa.

Yes, it's already leaked. It's called Ghost Recon Breakpoint. Special edition statue has been leaked, which coincidentally shows the same character as Ubisoft showed in their teaser. They have officially revealed the op as Operation Greenstone.

Apparently both leaks regarding to the new game and possible final Title Update bringing the Breakpoint prequel to Wildlands have been deleted in Ubisoft Forums.

So there's that. Pretty much real then.

Ah great! I never completed Wildlands. I must get back to it and try just finish the story. I was super slow playing through it as I was playing on hardest difficulty  for full effect. That meant dying a lot and repeating mission parts a lot. But it was that old skool gaming fun of trying to complete a hard level over and over and feeling satisfaction after it. Unfortunately it meant progress was slow.

Wildlands had it's flaws and there's a good bit of repetition. If you are to play completely hardcore, you'll see a lot of repetition, which is unfair. But if I was to play casual, I'd glide through the game and would see new things more often. There should be more reward for playing hardcore. Like unlocking unique items and being able to access areas in the map, be it a tunnel or a some escape route for players that have settings on highest difficulty.

Looking forward to see where the new location is going to be.

So the rumor about another update after Operation Oracle seems to be wrong, but this is it.

A lot of things showed there were player feedbacks that couldn't be implemented to Wildlands from cosmetics, firearms (one of them is RPG), and feature such as body carrying and wire cutter (if you're active in Wildlands forums, you will recognize these features shown in the game used to be part of the feedback). So far they seem to be taking and implementing the good ones. Them mentioning Bloused Boots sounds like a happy announcement and sarcasm.

- Protagonist is still Nomad from Wildlands

- Holt, Midas, Weaver rumored to be dead

- Cole D Walker from Operation Oracle gone rogue

- Taking place in a whole new map called Auroa

- It's about Skell Technology. It's the rise of high tech stuff prior to Future Soldier and Advance Warfighter.

- The game uses Class system. Starting with 4 kinds.

- Game revolves around survival, you are the hunted one

- Survival feature is implemented, if you are injured, you will be slowed down, water will slow you down, you have to heal yourself, stamina system, etc

- Terrain has effect. You will slide down a steep slopes and you will slowly climb up snowy hill

- You can prone blend (similar to of MGSV feature)

- Instead of Rally Point, this time it's Bivouac. A camp where you can rest, clean weapon, change class, craft, upgrade gear, and select time of day

- You can carry dead bodies and carry friends to revive them in safer place

- There are different enemy type and behavior

- Adaptive cover. Your Ghost's cover pose will match the cover you take

- Character smith is still in, with note in the website that no Ghost will be the same. So probably will have custom face creation.

- Shared progression. You won't be restarting from square-one

- Solo and Co-op still seamless jump-in

Wildlands problem for me was the mission design, it got boring and repetitive after only completing a few of the regions. The gameplay here and all of the changes sound good, my interest was peaked when they mentioned dialogue choices, interested to see how that works and how the story plays out. Good co-op stories are few and far between.

The customization for your character in Wildlands took me by surprise so I'm hoping for some indepth clothing options.

Yes. Fully solo, with optional 4 player co-op with a multiplayer mode.

i see bad and good. good new map, drones in battlefield (can really add a cool dimension), and females in team. the bad the healing system. not sure a complex healing system will get me hooked. i mean i buy a warfare game, not a surgeon game. the wolves appearance look a bit comic too. i mean why the heck will some soldier dress like kind of weirdos half skull, half assassin creed. this is overmade. also the real time terraforming scares me a bit. not that i find it not nice, but i wonder what kind of NASA rig will be requiered tu run this

If by single player you mean offline then no. For some reason the game can only be played with an active internet connection. Bizarre decision for a game like this, feels like they're trying to turn it into a Division style game.

I watched the trailer and found the part were he's  climbing a  steep hill or mountain side covered in snow in a blizzard with bare arms and hardly any clothes on unbelievable and silly, hasn't the game devs heard of hypothermia and frostbite?

I don't know what it is about Ghost Recon, but it just feels so lifeless and dull to me. I feel like it's one of those games that is fun for a little while, but gets boring really quickly. I did like Wildlands for the most part, but felt they could have done more with it. I hope this is good.

Should I post my juicy screenshots from Closed Beta here? I don't think that's allowed by agreement but Ubi wouldn't look here anyway.

But here's the important point, I'm sure you've read people persistently calling this game as Division 2 because of the tiers, leveled gun and armor loots? And these people usually would instantly call those who played Online Technical Test as liars when they shared that it doesn't function like Division's RPG tier and gear level-system?

Well, guess what? Those Online Technical Test liars were right.

(Frankly, this what makes me hesitant to share 1GB worth of screenshots only to be completely dissed, called liar, fanboy for not whining and spreading false information as how gamer's standard operating procedure nowadays)

Let me explain in points

- We have Gear Level system. This Gear Score is accumulated from your Weapon and Armor pieces.

- These Weapons and Armors have their own stats as in Wildlands and those are FIXED. Which means Gear Level 1 TAVOR TAR has the same stats as Gear Level 7 TAVOR TAR.

- There are Rarity Tier for your gears and these Tiers adds additional quality, such as +% Reload Speed

- This means, Gear Score 150 enemy (that I met after a certain cutscene early in the game with our boy Weaver) can be headshot and killed instantly. Tried twice.  Update: I came back and killed all. It's possible.

- The only difference with these Gear Level 150 enemies (which was way out of my league) is their damage output and resistance as they would take a couple more shot to the body before they down.

- Hence this Gear Level system is only a soft gap/barrier between you and your enemy. You won't be unloading 100 magazines on their face or body.

Other things in comparison to Wildlands

- You are lone wolf. Nobody will cover your ass.

- Character creation system still choosing from a set of face with eye color. Same as Wildlands. Those two can't be changed while the rest such as hairstyle, face marks, can be changed later on.

- Drone is story progression unlockable (early)

- You cannot deploy drone anytime. You must be concealed and safe instead.

- Enemy reacts to sound and report from their friends. But each of them has their own 'eyes'. The 'Undetected, Suspect, Engage' status are still present, except they really need to individually find you and that means they need to find you again if you moved silently.

- You can no longer assassinate by stealth shooting your enemy in the leg. You have to strike a headshot. Or CQC. EDIT: It seems it's possible to kill without headshot but you have to use high firepower like sniper.

- There are multiple variation of enemy. There was this armored guy with gatling gun that I couldn't CQC.

- You can frontally CQC your enemy while in combat like before, except this will result in longer animation as you struggle to kill them.

- No more that airsoft gun click on kill

- During combat, the enemies have high poise to your shots. They don't get flinched, moving their limbs like in Wildlands - at least so far I tried.

EDIT: Some do get flinched against high firepower.

- Our character has six slots of consumable items; two are fixed slots (Drone Smoke, Bandage), one is for explosives and utility (Grenade, Flashbang, Breach Kit, etc), and another two slots for consumables (Syringe, Canteen, Binoculars). You only can prepare your consumable at Bivouac.

- Types of (post character creation) customisation: Hair style Facial Details, Facial Paint, L/R Arms Tattoo, Headwear, Vests, Hands, Pants, Shoes, Headset (can be removed), Glasses, Backpack (can be removed), Top, Facemask, Patches, NVG, CQC (Knife type), Figures (fixed look of specific characters)

- You can switch your look between equipped armor and custom clothing

- Aside Gear Level, there is something called XP Level. This is regular character level that each level-up earns you Perk Point.

- You also have Faction Tier. Each tier gives you unique reward

- Cover objects have sticky feel. While foliage this time really works as hiding spot (and your screen will be vignetted)

- Our character's feet really detects the terrain and obstacle around. You need to watch where you are standing as this can punish you. (Currently in closed beta, the detection can be a bit wonky as sometimes my character thinks a wet floor is a swamp)

- You have 3 sectioned health bar. Each injury disables a section from regenerating. You have to use bandage (unlimited amount) to recover.

- Alternatively, injuries can be healed quicker with Syringe, a consumable item. Craftable and lootable.

- Injury is very punitive. It's no longer just about die or not die, but screwing up have lasting effect even when you survived.

- Injury changes your visual (camera view gets narrowed), slow down your movement (altered animation), muffle the audio, etc.

- Movement is rather sluggish so far, in positive way for me. A lot of in-betweens. I would say it's a good mix of Wildlands and MGSV.

- We don't strafe when weapon is out

- Aiming in prone position no longer allows you to move. Also, you will be aiming in rotation.

- Camo prone allows you to aim, but not move

- Some aims may be tilted depending on your pose

- You can climb ladders and you can aim (handgun) while on it

- You can jump roll to front, back, and sideways

- You can be fatigued and it will decrease your stamina bar. To recover, you have to drink from your canteen. It holds up to 3x if I remember correctly and we can refill it at rivers. There is a button cue to Fill Water, but somehow disabled. Still, Canteens are pickable.

- You can carry downed teammate and deceased enemy.

- Vehicle is heavier to drive and not slippery or 'jumps' when you hit the accelerator like in Wildlands

- There are 4 Classes available and you can swap between: Stealth, Sniper, Assault, Medic. No restriction other than their special skill, such as Smoke Bomb for Panther (Stealth Class)

- Skill Tree still present, but not making your Ghost into superhuman, since some Perks are Passive QoL (Parachute, Thermal Binos) and some others (usually buffs to Movement Speed, Reload Speed, etc) are Equippable Perks. You start with 1 slot and you can unlock 2 more slots if I'm not wrong.

- Bivouac allows you to assign one temporary buff by eating, drinking, checking gun, etc. No materials required

- Also allows you to check your gear, prepare your character build and save them as custom presets

- You can craft consumables such as Syringe, explosives, and Ration (consumables for temp buff)

- You can also prepare vehicles that you have purchased from Erewhon shop (will be spawned nearby)

- And lastly before leaving, you can advance time.

- I see some Missions don't exactly tell you where to go, but more towards giving you hints where it's at.

- A lot of unlockable cosmetics and colors. Can be looted or bought from Base of Operation vendor. The inventory browser will give you a hint where to find them.

- You can get Blueprint to craft from intels like in Wildlands

- Gun parts are one time unlockable

- There is in-game currency called Skell Credits that you can use to buy items in Base of Operation. So far so good and pretty generous when they are found in storage boxes. You can also sell your unused items.

- There are materials you can gather and get from dismantling.

- There is no more Quick Message. It's been replaced by voiceless emote. Some are social, some are tactical. Need to be assigned on your own, there are many variations.

- There is Text Chat with area option (To Group, To Everyone, etc)

- There are so many HUD options as well as control options for disabled

- The Erewhon (Base of Operations) is a player hub. It's not a player hub just because, but there's a story to that.

What else? That's a lot...

^^ that is a nice review of the Beta, i could only play for 15 minutes and got the "unable to connect to Ubisoft" and i couldn't play again yesterday, ill have the weekend to try it out.

i just hope they dont do it like they did in Wildlands, it was a cool game at release with huge potential but then it seems they just focused on multiplayer.

This is looking exactly as I was expecting. Generic but has potential for fun. It'll be a game I pick up on sale, as I can't really put it as something I'm in any sort of rush to buy. Especially if you have Wildlands.

This game is pretty much exactly what I always wanted. I didn't care for squad based gameplay in Wildlands, but being thrown in a hostile environment alone and having to survive in the wilderness is awesome. And unlike a bunch of cartel thugs, the enemies are actually scary motherf*ckers because they're professional soldiers with top notch equipment. Hiding from drones and being chased by them also adds a unique level of excitement. I simply love it. It's kinda like Metal Gear Solid without the crazy.

If you turn on the Tier 1, Santa Blanca can be deadly too. Armor which can take a couple of 12.7's and really deadly 9mm SMGs that can literally one-shot you across the mountain. Also those Unidad virgins with radar that keep spawning behind your back. What could be more scary?

A todas la Unidades comiencen el ataque!

@luisniko
Thank you for organised and detailed list, but i'd like to ask a couple of questions.
1 - At the closed beta stage, how much and how freely can you customize character's gear? I mean variety. In Wildlands we can make a tactical unit or a rebel. What about Breakpoint?
2 - In Breakpoint trailer, Nomad was shown as a muscle pile compared to his other squad mates. Is this a default bodybuilt for all male characters or was it made only for trailer?

3 - Tuck paints into boots?

Thanks. Ah yes, very refreshing to see this kind of questions.

1. Well, in the beginning, we start with a few of clothings unlocked and a few of their pattern/camo variants. But considering the looting system, you might come across a new one when you kill the enemy nearby. The rest can be bought at shop (actual vendor, not premium) or unlocked through other scripted methods. So I'd say thin selection in the beginning, though you still can appear casual in the beginning. But overall the current fashion selection is leaning more towards military/combat than civilian/casual.

2. Err, I don't think it's that big as in the trailer. But the male Ghost definitely have some more toned upper arms here compared to Wildlands. Example:

Spoiler

zXTj02nl.jpg

3. Yep. Bloused boot is an option in the Shoes section.
