R* clearly have no idea how to run a "live service" (I really hate that term, but it is what it is) in 2019.

 

You can't just close yourself off from the community surrounding your product, handing out crumbs of information sporadically and expect that community to stay engaged. It simply doesn't work.

 

Other developers of live services put out up to 12 month road maps, expand on those road maps as each content drop gets closer, they have community managers on social media and Reddit.

 

By the time RDO actually gets interesting, if indeed it ever does get interesting, the only community left around this game will be toxic as f*ck, jaded by the content and information droughts.

 

R*s performance in regard to the launch of RDO has been shambolic.

communication: WHAT can R* even say? they're being sued, they're being ripped apart (staff-wise), they're not on-the-level in terms of improving the game. and you want them to "talk" ?!

The tonics and ammo glitch has me concerned. I've been waiting and listening out, seeing if anyone lost anything or there's some downside. Don't want to use a ton of stuff I think is free, only to find out it isn't. But if it is ...

 

In general I think they need to speed up a little. Release some key things to give the game a boost. Content creator to boost the amount of showdown maps. Invite only sessions. The rockstar editor - can get some of the youtubers to give it a try again. Release those three and it's in with a real chance to make up to some of the people that don't like it right now. This is all stuff that's there right now as well. It came out a while back invite sessions are locked away. Any showdown map you play has a sign saying who created it (little hint at something there). And the editor - isn't that built into the game engine?

I’m really really starting to question why I care about this game and this studio as much as I do at this point.

 

This kind of communication is what I expect people get from the social services. Is this studio really invested in making games, as in stuff that’s supposed to entertain us and be fun?! Certainly doesn’t seem like it.

 

I thought for a brief moment that the pamphlets were discounted. I already bought the weapons I want, and so did everyone else. I guess I might throw a bit more dynamite around this week. Yay.

 

And the saddles: so the special saddles aren’t discounted either, I hear? I mean, I already got the saddle I want which is a special saddle because why the f*ck would I buy anything but? So I wouldn’t buy any saddle at the moment, and especially not a saddle made of sh*t with sh*t stats.

Have you tried the purchases option in a game mode lobby? 

 

If I want to fill dynamite or regular ammo quickly I'll quick join a story mission, go to purchases and use the purchase all option. 

 

I haven't tried it since this bug has been active, but it might let you buy more that 8, I don't know.

Apparently they can fix bugs on the fly (RDR2 tunables updated 20 mins ago) but can't even be bothered to tweet out the current f*cking event week despite it being on their Newswire. Belisimo.

They'll only fix bugs that affect their precious gold bars from not purchasing correctly, but will leave the gamebreaking ones in, such as the horse bonding, and stranger missions just not working

Speaking of saddles, imagine if R* had made it so that ALL the saddle types were closer to each other stat-wise, but with all the different looks. Ok, some for low ranks, with low stats, but plenty more with high-stats and more specific changes to stats. How interesting that would've been! You would really think "do I sacrifice 2% stamina drain or 2% health drain? how do I use my horse?".

Could a saddle be allowed to improve acceleration, if only ever so slightly?

 

The options could be endless, and personally I think there ARE plenty of good looking saddles, especially from those that aren't special ones. But at my rank (130) will I ever get a non-special saddle again? Of course not.

Problem with Rockstar is that this is their first game in 5 years and whilst the single player was brilliant I can’t imagine many people are going to play it through again. Once I’ve done the single player I don’t see the point of redoing it personally as the experience is never the same. Which leave RDO for players to continue to get their ‘Rockstar fix’. The problem is RDO is boring as hell and it seems they put it together very quickly at the last minute because T2 wanted to monetise it ASAP. It doesn’t seem to have been planned over a long period. There is literally NOTHING to do in free roam and the game has been out 6 months. As you’ve said the communication with the community is non existent. It’s just next update is ‘spring sometime’. They need to give us an actual date! Not just expect us to hang round in the hope that this game gets interesting. Communicate with the fans who have made your company BILLIONS. Is that so hard? There’s being secretive and there’s being arrogant which is what Rockstar have been throughout this whole online process. They think they can chuck us an item of clothing every now and then and we will just nod like dogs and wait for the next pitiful handout. 

 

Sorry Rockstar but if you are not going to release games very often you better make sure that when you do you hold peoples interest for longer than 2 months. I can only hope they are not that bothered about RDO online because GTA6 is is gaining momentum. If GTA6 is close I can understand it but if that’s still years away there’s not really any excuse for the state of RDO.

 

They are not listening to us and they don’t care.

To be fair, that’s about what it was in reality in the US circa 1899. Go to a general store and buy a revolver, go next door to the doctor to buy some miracle tonic with dubious claims. Tobacco was considered healthy. Good luck getting TNT from anywhere, though.

To each their own and all that, but I personally think it sucks and truly ruins the game to a great extent - especially since such cannot be easily avoided because everyone is lumped into the same lobby. Not to beat a dead horse, but again, I find it even more of a joke, headache, and annoyance with the ability cards in the equation. I find absolutely nothing interesting or worthwhile about any sort of PvP in this game, yet that seems to continue being R*'s primary focus, so I haven't any reason to waste my time with trying to play at all.

This is true; for example: the Sears catalogue in the US sold opium, cocaine, heroin and/or products containing them in the late 1800s/early 1900s. It wasn't until the 1910s/1920s that these harder drugs became more controlled, regulated, and eventually criminalized. Even soft drinks like Coca-Cola once contained cocaine; hence the name Coca-Cola.
