So I made an in-depth video detailing how and why I think RDO is a disappointment to the majority of players. I've had the idea for a while and thought I'd try and go for it. It's my first time making a longer essay/critique video and it wound up getting a lot longer than I intended. I'm pretty thorough in the video but there's still so much more I could talk about in regards to RDO.

 

Whether you agree with some of my points or not, I hope you enjoy it.

Oh for sure. I'm glad it's as long as it is, all the ones I've seen so far cover this topic are 10-15 mins max and there's not even that many of them to begin with. So thank you for this 🙏

I really appreciate that. People have been criticizing me for making the video far too long and thorough, which is totally fair. But it bummed me out that seemingly no one would actually enjoy the work I had put into it, so I'm very happy the format appeals to you.

 

The video has its issues for sure (it is my first and only video), but I hope you'll enjoy it nonetheless :)

Some people have short attention spans, ignore them. I'd rather watch a thorough 46 minute video than a 10:01 clickbait video that required no effort or thought to put together.

I feel the exact same way and I'm glad my video might cater to our niche. I love longer form essays and I'd been missing one on RDO that thoroughly explains why it (in many players' eyes) isn't entirely adequate.

We all have our own opinion but it is nice to see someone put together something factual to back up his opinions. Currently, half way through the video but so far it's on point with every topic discussed. Well done.

A 46 minutes video is too long for a video of single topic. I would have preferred it typed out because that's what I'm on the forum for? To read. Not watch videos. But, I could have easily skim read faster than watching subtitles of 46 minutes long video.

That's completely cool. As I said earlier in this thread, the video is kind of geared towards a niche that really enjoys watching longer essay videos on game related topics. I also couldn't find a video on YouTube that I felt comprehensively detailed how and why RDO is disappointing to many. I also saw a lot of misinformation regarding RDO, claiming it's comparable to GTA:O in many respects which I didn't feel was entirely true.

 

And if that's not to your tastes that's absolutely cool. I can give you the script for the video if you want, but it's not formatted or structured properly, is missing some things and is about 6 pages long. But if you'd like, I'll send it to you.

Just watched it over breakfast. 

 

I had no problem with the length in principle prior to watching and definitely have no problem with it upon completion.

 

It's considerably shorter than the Zizek/Peterson debate I watched yesterday, so my attention span didn't get challenged.

 

I found myself agreeing with you almost entirely and particularly enjoyed the matter of fact manner you approached the video in. 

 

I thought that it was well structured with the chapters and well scripted throughout.

Glad you liked it! I'll definitely be making more, even if the video isn't very popular. Though it'll definitely be some time before I take another massive undertaking as this turned out to be. I'm thinking of making a short 5-15 minute video presenting evidence and speculations for the rumored RDR2 DLC, and ultimately evaluate it. But we'll see. For now, I'm pretty slammed with real life obligations so it'll be a while I reckon.

Probably going to watch but split a long video in to parts make it easier to watch. Just like a wall of text!

I included a table of contents with timestamps in the description of the video, so you can watch specific parts or come back to it after some time if you'd like :)
