What's most important to extract from this finding is that since an artist, who was working in the newly founded India-based studio, worked on creating concept vehicles in 2017-2018, it means that the game should be in an advanced level of production and at least all basics (i.e. map, city, period, story) are defined and well-developed, and that even entry-level artists are engaged in development.

If they're designing vehicles then the location(s) has already been decided. I'll try and find the source, but I remember reading for GTA V that the vehicles they include are based of the location. As in, what vehicles are most popular in that area, not just convertibles in sunny areas, or offroads in rural locations, etc.

Might have been the Gameinformer article from 2012.

Interesting. Maybe it's not in a VERY early stage of production like I initially thought. But can't designing concept vehicles still be part of "pre-production"?

I honestly have no idea there... But I'd wager pre production ran from anywhere between 2012 & 2016. As it's usually done before you release your next game. And since hearing Dan Houser began writing for RDR2 in January 2011 (albeit different games, writing for GTA is a lot different from the more serious emotional RDR, and sticking with the same cast of characters and world). I think it's more than possible that they were in pre production in 2016-18. Knowing Rockstar they probably began right away on GTA VI right after RDR2's release.

And why not? They're in no rush to release a new GTA. New hardware isn't finalized until close to release (PS5) they will have longer to work on the game, giving them more time to make their best GTA yet. Gives them more time to try to avoid crunch and those negative articles that come out of it, although I can't see them avoiding crunch. It's literally impossible considering their ambitions.

However I'm no developer, and all this is educated speculation.

Yep, if they're working on vehicles that means they should be at a good point in the overall development. Anyway it's also very interesting how the same people works on vehicles for both GTA V and GTA VI, now I'm understanding a bit better why they decided to put all those stupid advancing flags on cars added with the latest DLCs. They were probably trying to see if there was a way to eliminate curb boosting (which, for those who don't know, is an "game-engine glitch" present since GTA IV that makes cars go faster if they go on and off kerbs - if you want more info, go to watch Broughy1322 on YouTube) and, if this is true, we can already determine that GTA VI will be based on the RAGE engine.

All these leaks regarding GTA VI and PS5, next-gen is probably closer than what we all expect! Recently there's aslo been the leak of a dev regarding PS5 and some AAA games (https://pastebin.com/PY9vaTsR), for him GTA VI will be 1-month exclusive on Sony's console and it will be out in summer 2020. This date, to me, seems unrealistic, but maybe it isn't that far away from the actual release date... RDR2 Online is already abandoned, GTA Online is (finally) going down, a new GTA starts to makes sense even for Rockstar now! I think we might already have some official news (trailer?) by the end of this year if both next-gen consoles will be revelead soon. My bet is Fall 2021-Spring 2022.

I've seen a leak confirming GTA VI would be exclusive for a limited time. I doubt that's true: Sony and R* did that on PS2 era, but R* don't really need to do that kind of thing anymore, they not only will sell more releasing on both platforms, as also would probably be more profitable for them.

It depends how much money Sony gave them. They absolutely would do it given the incentive

Yeah, it's definitely coming soon. Summer 2020 (or 2020 at all) seems very unlikely, we would've seen an announcement a long time ago. Even if GTA 6 is/was going to be a 1-month exclusive launch title on PS5 there should be an announcement later this year. If not, don't expect it to come next year on any platform. I expect GTA 6 to come between 2021 and 2023. Probably 2021, GTA V is 6 years old and counting, and players are hungry for something new. As you said, RDR2 Online is nowhere near as successful as GTA Online. Because of this, Rockstar has to release a new GTA soon to keep the money rolling in. They can only milk the current GTA Online for so long before it dies from a lack of interest.

I won't doubt that, but would Sony be willing to pay that money? I have no idea how this deals work but, the only way I see R* selling the exclusivity to Sony would be with Sony paying to cover the money lost with potential copies sold on Xbox, and if GTA V is anything to go by, that would be 400mi/500mi just at release. Would Sony be willing to pay all that?

Microsoft paid R* $50 million for TLAD and TBOGT to be timed exclusives.

Goddamnit i wanted bully 2 before another gta.Rockstar showed alot of potential with their storytelling in RDR2 i don't want them to fall back to their good ol south park satire humor in another GTA.

That's my thought too. The only difference I could see is perhaps if it is early in the PS5 lifecycle, Rockstar might think their sales will be a lot lower? Even then, it's GTA, a system seller. I can see how Rockstar might be willing to take a bribe from Sony for 1 month exclusivity. Considering Online might launch a month after launch, they might see that as a way to make a boost of sales when it launches on Xbox.

And that assuming this is even legit. I can't see it really happening. I think maybe this information came from a source within Sony, and perhaps this is something they were/are pushing for. Doesn't mean they will succeed though. On the flip side, 1 month exclusivity deals are pretty common. Microsoft had it on 360 with CoD DLC, now Sony has it on PS4. Sony also has 1 month exclusivity for Red Dead Online, and timed exclusivity for Destiny. Perhaps this information is slightly wrong and instead it's referring to GTA Online 2 content?

Good point. But considering V made $1B in 3 days on a large install base, I don't see how Sony could made an offer to cover the loss of Xbox sales, even accounting for a smaller install base, and adjusting for inflation. However, Rockstar might just see it as having their huge income delayed by a month. Sure, some people will switch to PS5 to play it (I know I would) either way, Rockstar still sell a game, and 1 month later they'll make their sales on Xbox. Essentially splitting sales in half, getting one half later, and a present from Sony?

I could see that happening.

Yeah, I can see a 1 month deal, but 6 months/1 year like R* did back in PS2, and Epic Store is doing right now, it's highly unlikely, IMO.

If RDR2 is indeed releasing on PC, R*'s response to Epic Store would be a good indicative, I think.

I was thinking about that too, maybe they might want to release the game 1-2 years into the new Gen, just so they can get a big number at release, close to GTA V numbers? I agree that GTA is a system seller, but release both GTA VI and PS5 together would get a much smaller number than GTA V, I would think that, in the very least, they would try to replicate those numbers.

Remember Sony have an advantage because Agents exclusivity deal was voided. They owe Sony first priority to make upf for it possibly. The PS5 thing sounds accurate enough however I believe it to be for DLC or marketing exclusives rather then full exclusivity (if it was true).

GTA is the most popular gaming franchise ever. It’s pretty much a licence to print money. Which is why I do find it weird some people think Rockstar haven’t been working on GTA6 for several years already. Rockstar could release a new GTA every 2 years if they wanted and each time it would beat the previous selling record. I think it would actually be a pretty smart move on Sony’s part to secure a one month exclusivity deal for GTA6. Plus you’d have to factor in the amount of people who’d by a PS5 just so they could play it early. That’s how popular GTA is. This all might be nonsense but it’s not that hard to believe to me that Sony would do something like that.

1) I don't know why you (or, some of you) think that "leaked" holidays are in summer. I believe it's Christmas time. Perfect time for extra sales.
2) Sure, Sony wants to boost their new console sales and GTA6 will help a lot. We live in a generation of YTbloggers, so a hyped tsunami will cover the winter of 2020/2021. Not many people will care about the price + it's a GTA. As for me, I'm ready to sell PS4 and buy PS5 already now and I will not lose anything as it'll have backward compatibility). This exclusive 1month should cost a minimum $200mln for Sony.
3) Personally, Idc about bully2.

Yep, you're right, but Christmas 2020 is just 1 year and a half away and we still don't know anything official about GTA VI. Maybe, like Microsoft did with GTA IV, GTA VI could be presented in the same PlayStation Experience of the PS5 reveal, but I doubt there will be just a year between the first trailer and the actual game. Bully 2 at this point is gone, GTA attracts more money and players.

I want to remember you that T2 was rumored to be acquired by Sony, they have the economical power for making such deals. Microsoft paid $50M for a year exclusive on EFLC, considering that Sony would have GTA VI exclusive just a month I think they won't pay over $100M.

Well, I'm sorry but in the recent months I've never heard a rumor regarding Bully 2, just a few portfolio images and nothing more. I'd be very happy to see Bully 2 but, objectively talking, there are no proofs that it's going to be next Rockstar's game.

RDR2 was originally to be released about a year after the announcement, so it's definitely possible even if of course unlikely considering Rockstar and their history of always delaying everything.

Let's just say it GTA VI is coming holiday season 2020 when should we see the first announcement?

Anyone who's ever checked out GTA V Beta Hunt on here have seen once upon a time GTA V looked like GTA San Andreas then it looked like GTA IV you can still find it looking like GTA IV in game TV shows and pictures around the map in buildings

Maybe the reason why we haven't heard anything about GTA 6 is because it's only coming to next gen and Rockstar can't announce a game on next gen without the next gen consoles being hear first lol ?

In typical Rockstar fashion i'm sure it will get delayed and in that pastebin Gran Turismo 7 VR is mentioned another massive game that doesn't rush to push games out to make more money cough cough Forza....

Kazunori Yamauchi always pushes PlayStation consoles to it's limits

Here is GT Sport running 8K

That's a possibility but whether it's gonna be goofy or serious depends on the setting. If VI is set in VC, it'll probably be goofy like V and SA, now if it's set in Carcer City, it'll be serious like IV.
