delsutton
I've only just come back to the Online version, mainly as a friend of mine has just bought it and seems to make sense to give it another go. One thing we've both noticed (in the past 3 days) is that there are never any trains, at least, we've never seen them. Are they a thing in Online? Karlitoz-E
Yeah, you can drive them as well The Dedito Gae
Foxwolfe
They seem to spawn more frequently if you're in an area with a station (where the train makes a stop) and there are no other players in your general vicinity. Keep in mind that the train might also be in another location with someone else occupying it, or maybe they killed the conductor and it's just sitting somewhere, in cases like that it would seem like it's not spawning. Daleificent
If you do get really curious, start riding along the railroad exclusively. I'm not sure if the train can spawn heading in either direction, for me it always seems to be heading clockwise (the railway coming from W.E. to New Hanover over the big ass bridge, can't remember the name.) so ride counter clockwise and you'll find it eventually. Failed Again
there's never any trains, until you find yourself hogtied and laying on tracks B_E_N_1992, Coleco and The Dedito Gae

LOL! The train that goes thru Saint Denis runs counter-clockwise. The train that runs by Valentine runs clockwise.
Foxwolfe
Due to the orientation of the track and the way it snakes around in areas, but the train is only ever traveling counter clockwise if you take the entire loop it does into account. If you're driving the train you can choose to take it to either Valentine or Rhodes but both paths connect in Saint Denis and continue on the overall loop. I've driven the train everywhere and I've seen no options.
Coleco
I've seen the trains take either route when riding them so I just assumed it was randomised - maybe when driving you can push/hold the thumbstick left or right just after Flatneck Station to select the route as that's where the two routes separate? I usually find the train spawns frequently around Riggs and Flatneck stations as i'm riding in from the west shortly after joining a session. Still haven't found a foolproof way of getting a train when I need one though. Failed Again
ThaBirdCoot
There`s a train shedule pinned in Valentine (among others) outside of the post office with the stranger mission, but I think it's bollocks. Tried a few spots where it shoulda been at said hour but trains never spawned. Like other people mentioned, it seems to be more frequent to have a train spawn when you just joined a new session in the vicinity of the tracks. When you come up on any split (out of the ones you can actually choose the direction) just hold the left stick down in the direction you want it to go, works for all the small parts too like the split at Baucchas (I don't remember how to spell it lol) station and there's also one by the logging area thats in SP. But yeah there's no prompt or anything, I was just curious one of the times I was driving the train and found that out. Mainly I was trying to get that bug to trigger where the train takes the unfinished section in Roanoke but I figured they must have patched it at the time I was trying since I couldn't get it to work. Edit: I just wanted to add that I haven't driven the train in months so I'm assuming it all works the way it did back when I tried this. LooseCanon
Lol I tried stopping the train prior to the junction and getting off looking for a lever to pull, I’ll give the left button a try when I find a train.
Happy Hunter
They really should've made them follow the schedules that are pinned up. ThaBirdCoot, ALifeOfMisery and Rafae S
Rafae S
Of course it was only a matter of time before they added riding them to daily challenges smh.
LooseCanon
Hmm not sure on this, I took the train from Riggs station through the heartland oil fields (where you do the kerosene and tar mission but the opposite direction, I chose the track nearest the building and it when on it), down through Lemoyn into Saint Denis and up to annesburg, then I got off. it took every junction I selected apart from one where it would have derailed and ones in Saint Denis, so I assume you can somewhat control it? Foxwolfe
Yeah unless it's changed you could control it at certain splits, the one that goes to either Valentine or Rhodes is the main one, while the rest are just small deviations like at the oil fields. Although yeah till you mentioned it I never really thought about the fact that the train is going the opposite direction in that one mission lol.
