The I've Got Gas Thread [Best Uses for Tear Gas & Jerry Can]

I'm not proud, but heck, I'll admit it – I've got gas. It might have been the garbanzo salad I had last night.
But, the thing is, at least this fartknocker most certainly knows what to do with it!

Seriously, though, my most primary use for Tear Gas and the Jerry Can in GTAO is when doing Survivals.
In fact, I can't imagine going into a Survival without a full cache of either in my weapons donut.

They are essential and with the Jerry Can, paired with a Flare Gun, it's not only deadly – it's fun!

But, beyond Survivals and the occasional cop battle, I can't think of many other uses for these fine items.
It used to be a "blast" to pour Jerry gas all over the Rocket Voltic engine, but that's kind of passé, now.

Would love any suggestions on creative, interesting uses for Tear Gas, Jerry Can, and even the Flare Gun, if you got 'em.

You can use gas to kill enemies that are confined to an specific area, like in doomsday heist or business battles. In doomsday tho is very hard due to the higher health the enemies have.

I use tear gas for the "Little Seoul Gangsters" I/E mission, safest way to clear the area surrounding the car. I also use it during Targeted Data, it slows the cops down while I hack the computers.

 

Speaking of Gas, I use Gas Bombs to clear the ally during Crime Scenester.

 

I use the Jerry Can for the Blow Out II & Ignite the gasoline on my way out.

 

I don't use the Flare Gun.

maybe i'm wrong, but doesn't tear gas prevent you from using assisted aim? either way, i only use flare guns for improvised buzzard countermeasures and cutting enemy parachutes. Dropping jerry cans and shooting them for a mini explosion to ragdoll on it fun, too

Funnily enough I was just about to say the same thing. The reception area is a confined space, and they always seem to come in that way, so you can even take some of them out with it occasionally.

 

The flare gun is reserved for the occasional gimmick kill, especially as a driveby. I can't remember ever using the petrol canister for anything other than No Hay Bronca once or twice.

I block the reception entrance before I go inside so they have to use the eastern gate and I gas the hallway, it slows them down.

I used to much more on old gen with all 3, but not so much these days with the tear gas or Jerry can. I shoot flares off all the time really though. Mine are bright blue and I can't help but shoot those off in tunnels or at night. 

 

When I remember I have the gas and can I do like to use them though. During headhunter VIP works I enjoy using the gas (and molotovs) on the stationary targets from rooftops above and with the gas I use it more on missions like Blow Up or anytime I wanna to see the fire spread on hillsides and such. Does look awesome still.

 

These days though gotta say, that alien ray gun is quite fun, and helps bail me out on a near failed sale through some careless driving.

Do gas bombs counts? Because I have these on my Akula for stealth ops.

 

Otherwise I just use the flare gun against OP Mk2 pricks...Doesn't work every time though.

I use the flare gun a lot ( I really wish you could hold more ammo for it), I keep trying to light up convertible drivers, but had no luck yet.

It's probably not possible, but you can light motorcycle drivers.

Sure i've got gas, but only the jerry can i frequently use, usually i burned those kkangpae after i shot them to death during diamond shopping, they always get in my way..

I use them all quite a bit. I limited my loadout quite a long time ago so I have only weapons that I deem to be more "conventional", so I end up using tear gas often. I use flares to ignite gas cans sometimes when I can funnel NPC's into small spaces. 

 

Also use Molotov cocktails often.

I used tear gas on the different players nightclubs in full lobbies on the npc crowds. Using tear gas also on the gun shop guy who gets upset. Havent really used the jerry can much apart from trying to burn down the boardwalk at the fair grounds.

tear gas is so useless, most times i use it as a smoke screen when moving from one place to other during freeroam wars with people that dont spam rpgs.

 

the jerry can, being years since i used it in freeroam, last time i remember using it was back in the day when you could pour gasoline on the back of the vehicles of other players and it will catch fire once they drove away, the car will get destroyed and you wont pay the insurance

Tear gas... I don't remember using it whatsoever in... years, I guess. I use the gun locker to hide all the unnecessary garbage, which includes tear gas, so the only time I could use it are missions/heists, where it'd only cause trouble.

Can't remember using the jerry can outside the Prison Break's police setup mission. It indeed could be useful in survivals, but takes too long to prepare a trap, I think.

As for flare gun, or flares in general, I use them once or twice while taking Snapmatic photo(s). And that'd be about it.

 

All are completely useless to me, but I appreciate their existence, to be fair. The more diverse items in the game, the better, even if I don't find myself using majority of them, sticking only to my trusted arsenal.

The mechanic down at the LSC disagrees that there's anything fun about the flare gun.

I use tear gas specifically for I/E sell missions when I have a solo lobby. 

 

I’ll park the car behind me while I take cover at a building’s corner. 

 

From there I put up a wall of gas so the incoming gangsters get a nice whiff of that smoke lol. 

This strategy makes short work of the gangsters and I can usually sell my car with no damage incurred.

only interesting thing i've done with the jerry can is drawing rude imagines on peoples cars whilst they are in a shop or if its randomly parked up somewhere, no idea if it actually appears on their screen when they return to the car but it makes me chuckle nonetheless

I should also add, that back in the early days, Tear Gas was great to use during Rooftop Rumble, especially when playing solo and only using a pistol.

There is an outfit that looks like it might fit the bill but I dont own it. I'm just hanging around, waiting for an answer. Hope some nice person is able to answer it.

I like to pour gasoline all over the parking lot during Blow Out 2 & light it up with the Banshee's exhaust on my out, sort of a tradition.

 

I do it every time CMs are 2x$ & this time is no different.

There is gas masks available,but they unfortunately don't work.They are only for looks...

Tear gas and flares are almost exclusively part of my photoshoot arsenal - great for creating an atmosphere or effects!

 

 

 

 

They're also pretty effective at clearing an area of pedestrians for the shoot itself

 

Permits are for stuffy bureaucrats

@Coleco just wow. WOW. This is something I never even conceived of. Just the idea of staging a photo is terrific, but finding such a unique and purposeful use for a weapon in the game outside of being a weapon... just wow! Nice job and great photo, right there!
