Turan
Speaking for myself, I buy a console mainly for the convenience. Even though PC gaming has become easier over the years, I find that it is still more prone to software/hardware issues than a console. And I don't think that will change either since PC is an open platform and consoles aren't. Exclusives are secondary. el carlitos
Why its Dual color? Looks strange, prefer the look of PS4 controller. Maybe I will change opinion when I see it all black. Arrows to Athens
Jason
Well my first reaction was it was one of those cheapo controllers you get cause you can't be arsed paying for an official controller, which aint a good start. Beyond that, uh, the shape looks better I guess? Haptic feedback and w/e is whoopdeedoo, it won't be utilised in a way they're fantasising about in that PR statement. As for the mic, I am scratching my brain trying to figure out how they thought that was a good idea. I am honestly genuinely disappointed that neither Sony or MS actually did something new with their controllers that would actually have an impact on how games can be designed and played, ie, more buttons / paddles on the back. That is what they needed to actually do this generation to alleviate the rising amount control issues we've seen in games this gen as well as make PC games that use more buttons easy to port over. I am getting sick of having to hold a button down access more controls, like say having to hold the button that typically is meant for aiming your bloody gun to simply say hello to somebody in RDR2. Turan
That.. is a much bigger change than I expected. As long as it feels good in the hands I don't care how it looks though. But where are dem paddles though??? If they are gonna sell it as an add-one for this controller then I hope it'll feel better than the DS4 one. Mister Pink
Shape of the controller is looking more similar to something I would prefer to hold, like an Xbox 360 controller. Definitely winning points with me there. As an exclusively console player, I'm not even thinking of anything beyond current functionality of current controllers. Maybe, we could have more buttons. Never really gave much thought about it. Never really considered the thought of giving more buttons to add another dimension to developers and give them something new to work with. I think I've just been happy with developers being more creative wirth the UI. I suppose its supply and demand. I mean, are people that only play consoles asking for these things? I imaging if you are a PC gamer first, then play consoles, you might notice a lack of buttons. I'm just speculating. It's like me, I have a professional DSLR. I have button on my camera that just gives star ratings for my photos so I can do some culling before the photos even get on to my machine. Or I and the menu is programmable so I can do some custom button design or whatever, but then using a normal point-and-shoot camera or a phone seems like a few generations back when it comes to buttons and functionality. Having said that, remember the OG Xbox controller had a black and white button? Ivan1997GTA and Zello 2 𝙼𝚄𝚂𝙸𝙲 𝙽𝙾𝙽 𝚂𝚃𝙾𝙿

Meekail
That new controller looks great. I like how they made the shoulder buttons bigger and it just looks more comfortable to hold in general. I hope it still has the headphone jack...
Guest
It looks good but we all know pristine white needs a lot of tender looking care. No direct sun light, no smoking and handled with latex gloves at all times. This is what it may look like after a few years of wear and tear. Also those anolog sticks need to be staggered if they want to take on the xbox one pad. Which imo is a great gaming controller.

Having said that, remember the OG Xbox controller had a black and white button? We've seen developers get around the button issue on controllers, it involves them having a "modifier" button, like RDR2. You hold a button and it unlocks more controls, perhaps the most extreme example of this I've seen are EA's UFC games but it's a little more understandable with those games. But eitherway, it's clunky and not great to use especially in more frantic moments. Simply being able to move things like jump and sprint to back paddles, or have a friendly version of RDR2's lock on for NPC interaction or anything like that would be huge, far more huge than better rumble tech. Something as simple as that could potentially open up 2+ more inputs for more control in melee combat, or make things like lean mechanics in shooters easier to design for controllers, or say a clutch pedal button for racers. It is painfully obvious to me now when games are designed around controllers especially with the rise of action games with abilities. The three ability loadout we see is a direct result of LB, RB and LB+RB being used for abilities. Up that to five abilities and suddenly build diversity is GREATLY increased in ARPG style games. Better input options that opens up more design possibilities for games designed for console/controller was an absolute must IMHO. Unfortunately however that will only happen with Sony and MS make it standard and neither have so we'll be waiting another several years to have another roll of the dice sadly. Jason
Gotta say despite my initial reaction after seeing a few mock ups in different colours the look is growing on me. TheSantader25
I didn't like the look at first. It looked kinda lifeless. I like the blue one in particular because it has some color to the buttons. I just wish the blue color was just a tad bit darker. What I still dont like is the duo color. Saw a Photoshop of it in all black, much better imo. Hope it will be available in black from the beginning. scorseses
God who let IKEA design the new Playstation controller? But seriously, I can concur with many when I say the colour is totally bland. The shapes on the buttons especially are missing colour and I feel like that was one of the things making the controller over the years unique. However, when I look at the mock-ups I can very much say I wish the blue one was the new controller. Despite the dastardly new generation of the Playstation controller, I will definitely still buy the console. I guess I'll wait until third parties start making controllers that will possibly look better than the initial Dualsense 5. Hopefully they look as good as the mock-ups. last.fm Iron to gold. LittleBlueTroll
I agree the blue one looks infinitely better than the white official controller. I'm still not fully sold on the 2 tone, though. I don't really be feelin this controller, yeah it's close to the Xbox (minus the wrong left stick position ) but the color scheme is weird. I guess they don't want a full black one because it would resemble the Xbox controller more. lol If it's any indication of the console, it's gonna look funky, too. lol Edited April 8, 2020 by GTA3Rockstar

At best all it does is simply increase the price of the controller, at worst it will be a terrible mic that is a nightmare to use while playing a game. It's on the controller so it's going to have to pick up your voice from a little distance, so what's stopping it picking up button presses, fans, the controllers rumble or any other noise in yer room? They straight up say in the PR blurb that they basically recommend an actual headset for any actual gaming session which to me is like.. If this isn't a practical feature, why add it at all? Jason
I'd love to be wrong but we aint getting an advanced, high quality microphone in a £50 controller. It's gonna be dog poo and in a few years we're all going to be wondering why the hell they bothered, then Sony will release a mic-less controller. This is supposedly going to look like, I’m not too sure about it but hey it’s got ima built in pizza slice warmer at the top as of right now I don’t have any to play a PS5 as I have a PS4 currently sitting here collecting dust and I mostly play on PC but if they announce backwards compatibility that’ll certainly influence my chances of buying it on a Black Friday or Christmas In July sale.
