RoTR sounds alright, the open world sounds like it's cookie cutter and generic so high 70's rated open world game makes sense. I did hear a while back it had difficulty options, so I don't think it's a soul-like in the sense it's overly difficult? I remember going from 0 interest to some interest when I heard that my self.

I don't own a PS5 and even if it was PC day 1 it launched at the same time as HFW PC and DD2 so it was no bueno but if/when it comes ot PC (when, I think) I'll probably have a looksie when it gets to a decent price.

I think the biggest issue facing physical gaming is more of how and where to source the games from. At the moment, for me personally, if I can't find a game on the tiny little section of my local supermarket (gone from half an aisle of games down to like 4/5 per console), then I feel like Amazon is the only place to go, and call me old, but it no longer has the same wave of feeling for me. I grew up in an era where i would scour shelves, turning over every game on the shelf and picking my purchase by the back of the box. I have popped into GAME every now and then, but their prices are ridiculous, and this is the issue, where you allow companies to become the monopoly of the industry. CEX is probably the only other big store left for gamers these days. I do, however, feel that physical is becoming less and less of a priority for me, simply because you can no longer just put a disc in and play the game, but rather you're just purchasing the license to download a game. This is why my Switch library is currently my biggest collection of this/last gen. As much as I'd miss it, i feel the next generation of consoloes will primarily be digital only, with the disc drive purchasable as an add-on.

Anyone played Rise Of The Ronin yet? With GoT been one of my personal favourite games of recent years, this title piqued my interest, slightly dampened the "souls-like" title though. Initial reviews seem dissapointing though, with an average 77 on Metacritic...

The physical copies guarantees our ownership of these games though, especially with the recent reports of games being removed from people's accounts without solution, so they must stay.

Here in Ireland, Gamestop shut down there entire operations last summer which was a big blow as I could trade in games for new games, same with consoles.  A big loss.  At least I have Smyths shops here, they have a good selection of games, consoles etc that I can buy instore and online, but they don't take trade-ins.

We have CEX too, I sold games and hardware to them but never purchased anything from them.

If Smyths stop selling games, it will be a big blow for me.

Since you already have a XSS, don't you think about getting a PS5 Slim without the disc drive once its price drops to $400 or below eventually? Since you are a PC player for many years and you already are used to buying digital copies of games.

Thankfully we still have the remaining of this generation to enjoy physical copies of games, GTA4 probably will get a PS4/PS5 port, then there's GTA6 next year, I want the physical copies of all these games alongside my GTA5 E&E.

I'm also interested in Gran Turismo 7 and some other games, but I think I'll have to buy them online and wait for the delivery, it's hard to find it in the shelves, probably because it's a online only game, so people don't even bother buying its physical copy, it will be useless one day anyway.

You should get Gran Turismo 7 for sure bro.  I spent 153 hours so far on it, excellent game.

BTW, if you didn't download the Playstation app on your phone, be sure you do.

Sh*t, I forgot to download it lol, I want to get all GTA5 Story Mode related trophies again first before buying Gran Turismo 7, but I don't know if I'll buy it physically or digitally though, considering that a physical copy of that game will be useless eventually, but I still would like to put it in my collection regardless, although my PS5 collection only has GTA5 E&E for now. :kekw::kekw:

I've thought about it now and then but ultimately it'd be a £350-£400 purchase that I'd have to make room for that I would use for maybe 2 or 3 weeks a year at most.

Given that virtually every PS exclusive, be it first or third party, is coming to PC now I'd rather just simply wait and play it on PC.

So you'll play GTA6 in the XSS then? At least you're covered for this game until its PC version releases in 2026 or so.

Possibly. If I get a new console for VI it'd most likely be a discounted Series X. At least then I'd use it, as I do still use my Xbox to play w/ mates.

Perhaps Microsoft will have released the new cilinder model of the XSX by then with a price reduction.

This is why I genuinely try steer clear of purchasing MP games these days, or games that require online at all times etc. Barring a few titles that I've had genuine interest in, I'm not willing to spend upwards of £70 on a game that will become redundant in a few years time, especially given that I only get around an hour or two of gaming time a day. Hard to deny the fact we are just purchasing a license to download the gane though, rather than the actual ownership of the game itself.

Just look at all these collectors editions coming out that don't actually include a disc. Scummy.

I actually forgot about Smyths, since I only have the chance to go there every so often (we try to avoid it since it usually results in me spending £100's on my little lad 😂), but yeah, that's actually a decent place to get games from, and the prices are good too. CEX can be really good at times, and I've bagged quite some deals there, but they're not far off dominating the monopoly when it comes to prices etc.

Meh, I'm just being an old git ranting about missing the old days of game shopping, in dedicated little stores.

To be fair, I'm pretty sure that the majority of the game will remain accessible when the day comes for it to be delisted. I read somewhere that the online only is required for some reason to do with the MP part of the game, so once the servers go offline, there's no reason to shut the single player down.

Go for it though. I've not played a GT game since like Tokyo Concept/4, but 7 has me hooked right now. Barring the grind aspect, and the shirty MTX, it's a solid game.

Man, wtf was Sony thinking when they made the PS5 Slim feet? Couldn't they've made a normal stand for it like the PS5 Fat has? I know that some of you will say that they've done this to sell it separately, but the optional stand doesn't work in the horizontal position neither, so whoever bought this model has to deal with its wobble whenever they plug something on it or whatever.

When you mentioned wobble, I immediately thought of jelly!

From what I've seen, the console actually wobbles in its feet when something is being plugged into it.

You can ask yourself this question for pretty much the overall design. I get that they wanted something different, but imo the design wasn´t the best decision from Sony. I did put mine inside the lowboard. Even can close the door, than its invisible. Before you ask, no heat problems yet. The backside of the lowboard is open, there is enough ventilation when the door is open.

Said it many times before, the PS5's design was form over function. Whether or not it looks good is subjective, I think it visually looks pretty bad, but functionally it's just bad.

No computer that is going to be laid on it's side by a large majority of it's owners should ever be designed in that way.

Its look grew on me now that I own a PS5 Fat, if it has a disc drive like mine does it looks much better in the horizontal position. I also like the design of the PS5 Slim, but what I don't like are these two feet it has instead of a normal stand.

In any case, I reccomend you people to use the PS5 in the horizontal position, I know that the last version of the Fat (1214, 1215, 1216...) and the Slim don't have issues with the liquid metal leaking from the APU in the vertical position anymore, but it still creates bald spots without the liquid metal on them overtime due to the APU also being in the vertical position and gravity doing its work, at least this is my understanding when some consoles overheats due to this problem and needs to reposition the liquid metal evenly again in some repair shop. Although we still need to take the consoles to a repair shop to clean it and replace its liquid metal after every 2 or 3 years anyway, but better be safe than sorry.

When I got my PS5, the plan was it was eventually going to be belly down in the horizontal position.

Almost two years on it is still in the vertical position.  Oh well.

I found this short which explains what I mean quickly, although I don't know if this issue happens in every version of the console (1014, 1114, 1214, 2014...) or just some of them.

I should also mention that replacing the APU of a PS5 is tricky as f*ck and it's extremely rare for a repair shop to have the tools needed for it and to know to do it, as it also requires to replace three of the six SSD chips because they're coded for each other, the same thing happens when any of these three SSD chips breaks, it also requires to replace the APU, even if it's in perfect condition, but most repair shops will say that the console can't be saved, even though it can, but it's rare to find one of them who knows how to replace the kit.

While I don't think about changing the original white covers of my PS5, I'm seriously thinking about buying a midnight black DualSense eventually though, it looks sick.

You should take a look at the Galactic Purple Dualsense too, that controller is beautiful.

I've seen all of them, but the midnight black one is the best contrast to the original white DualSense imo.

Same opinion. I got the Midnight black as second controller and it´s just beautiful. Matches the white console perfectly and reminds me of PS2, 3, 4.

Thiiis, while the original white DualSense and the console itself reminds me of the PS1.

I never considered getting the black controller as I always wanted to get different colours.

At the moment my controllers are: the white one that came with the console, galactic purple, god of war ragnarok and cobalt blue.  That's enough for me now.

I'm raging that I sold my Spiderman Dualsense.

It's like @el carlitos said, I like the midnight black DualSense because it reminds me of the DualShocks 2, 3 and 4.

If I was to get a midnight black Dualsense, one of my other Dualsense controllers would have to make way for it.  It is a lovely looking controller though.

Why you'd have to get rid of one?

I have four of them now, so I don't need anymore.

Anyway, I'd be better off putting the money towards a solid state drive for extra storage.
