When you expect official announcment?

It will not be at the E3 (11.June - 14.June). It´s quite sure it will be this year. So do you expect it before or after E3?

Next gens will arrive next year holidays.

There is a new leak about PS5. It says that there will be two version of the PS5 at launch, one standard version and a more powerful version, some kind of PS5 Pro.

The leak is from japanese journalist named Zenji Nishikawa.

The source is a japanese video blog stream at Youtube. It´s all japanese language.

But it'll be just an announcement, you simply can wait till Fall 2020 and buy it later, isn't it?)

Is it only backward compatible with PS4 games, or with PS1, PS2 & PS3 ones as well?

Thanks in advance for the replies! 😁

I don't feel so bad about selling my PS4 now. Gives me a chance to save up and spend a year away from games before the PS5 releases. I wasn't expecting it so soon, I must admit. Hard to believe PS4 came out in 2013 and it's been that long already.

Only with PS4 games, unfortunately.

Thanks for the reply! No big deal tho, at least to me as I only skipped the PS4, but I still have and actively play both on the PS2 and PS3

The part that fascinates me is that you'll be able to (depending on a few factors) pick and choose what parts of a game you want to keep on the device. I.E you only want the online section of the game installed to the console because your long done with the story campaign. This was an issue for people like myself who never upgraded from their pre-installed HDD, and still was an issue regardless for those who only touch certain parts of the game. I'm not sure about yous but PS4 did have a feature where you could part install a game and part play it once it reached a certain point in the instillation phrase but I'm not sure how many games used this, I know Fallout 4 did for special cutscenes that would only play during instillation but not sure about others. Think Sleeping dogs might've used it as well but could be wrong? Hopefully part-play while installing returns to the PS5.

I'm wondering if this is something that once it get's off the ground and after a couple of years pass will be standard on PC as well. (of course if you have a SSD)

However, game installation (which is mandatory, given the speed difference between the SSD and the optical drive) will be a bit different than in the PS4. This time around, aided in part by the simplified game data possible with the SSD, Sony is changing its approach to storage, making for a more configurable installation—and removal—process. "Rather than treating games like a big block of data," Cerny says, "we're allowing finer-grained access to the data." That could mean the ability to install just a game's multiplayer campaign, leaving the single-player campaign for another time, or just installing the whole thing and then deleting the single-player campaign once you've finished it.

GTA V is a good example I could use for this, Rockstar hasn't touched story mode in forever so it's just been left abandoned, I think most people only buy said game for the multiplayer component these days so it would be nice to get rid of a fraction of the game that's just going to sit there unused taking up valuable space.  Tho I worry that if the Multiplayer part of the game needs to have some form of the single player game there to basically work properly because it probably wasn't designed with this feature in mind now making me think it'll be a game by game basis and also depending on framework and code. If the games internal code is a huge complete mess I don't know If I see this working out meaning you might still be forced to install Singleplayer just for Multiplayer and vice versa.

PS4 was meant to have this feature but it doesn't work properly. I remember downloading Modern Warfare Remastered and it gave you the option of downloading single player or multiplayer but it literally made no difference, and I think you could only play the story first with either option.

I'm really liking the quality of life updates for PS5, let's hope they are as good as they sound.

Hopefully no chance. That game needs to die already.

Red Dead however i'd say has a chance.

Well, the PS4 also released 7 years after the PS3.

Why would it be, or need to be, re-released for PS5?

Literally.

Feels like I didn't make any use of my PS4 compared to my Ps3 and 2 days.

I feel the same.

Don't get me wrong, the PS4 has a solid library. God of War, Horizon Zero Dawn, Uncharted 4. Just to name a few.

However, I just feel as though the PS3 library was more impressive and kept me playing longer. Even in 2019, albeit rarely, I still booted up my PS3 to play some games because it's the only way. If Sony did better on backwards compatibility, I likely would have played PS4 more.

if the PS5 is backward compatible there is no way they would make enough $$ to pay for all the work

I have a feeling it will definitely be November/December just in time for all the kiddies to bug their parents for the PS5 for Christmas.

Zilch Since rumors are GRA VI is being worked on and will be announced in 2020, So if R* sticks to their usual time tables and announces GTA VI in spring/summ will be released either Spring/Fall 2021

I know it's probably nothing to get excited over but someone leaked a picture of the PS5 Dev-Kit
