I haven't been the biggest fan of PS controllers since getting my hands on a Xbox one back in the day. But I must say, I love the more chunky PS5 controller. Aside from it looking great, I imagine it would feel great in my hands.

Yeah I used to be an Xbox guy had an Xbox and Xbox 360 then I switched to Playstation this gen with the PS4. The only thing I miss about Xbox are the controllers Xbox definitely has better controllers than playstation. I'm excited for the PS5 and hope it's controller will be a better experience.

Hoping that the Triggers on the PS5 controller are a lot better compared to the PS4 ones, one of my biggest complaints is the trigger buttons (mainly L1, R2) were too easy to wear out and I went through 3 DS4 controllers just because of it. I only want to possibly go through two controllers this generation with only more being purchased for multiplayer.

If the August 6 event rumors at true, we could see an announcement from PlayStation tomorrow

I really hope PlayStation tries something like making play online with all games free again.I really hate buying PS+ Annually just to play with my friends.

Also,I seen those rumors for an August event hopefully if they're true  we'll see the console's UI.

According to rumours which obviously can be false, August is supposedly going to be big, we should get State of play during next week if the [This post has been flagged and will be monitored] are true.

I expect:
-More informations about how backward compatibility works, how the old/current gen games run on PS5 (I think they'll use Spiderman for this, since they've only talked about it without showing much)

-PS5 release date and price

-Key features of PS5's operative system

-Silent Hill reboot or whatever it'll be

-Santa Monica's next game, maybe God of War 2 (they've been teasing Ragnarok since GOW)

-If not GOW, then the next Killzone or Resistance

-Either the new Batman or Harry Potter game

-COD Black Ops Cold War

-More Resident Evil Village stuff, there was a press playtest recently iirc

-Ueda's next game

I generally expect more about PS5 itself instead of its games. Maybe we'll get so see some actual, next gen gameplay of some games from the last State of Play.

a Hideo Kojima post.

Have we heard yet if the built in DVR will be making a return in the PS5?

It's f*cking August and we still barely know sh*t about these two companies' plans for next generation or new non hardware related features of the two consoles. No price yet as well. Stop being pussies and show us the next generation ffs.

2013 was much better. Both companies taking risks and throwing shots(it went horribly for Microsoft though) but at least we got info before release.

Deathloop delayed until Q2 2021. Can't help but think that the PS5 just lost it's best looking launch exclusive?

I'm debating whether to buy at launch or just wait for that must have game for the system. Horizon 2, Spiderman 2, New Rockstar game, if they actually release a Red Dead Redemption 2 PS5 edition I would buy instantly.

Sony PS5 are going an invite-only pre-order opportunity. I think this might be so hardcore fans (and by hardcore, I mean people that will learn of this and apply) can increase changes of securing the console and not be dissappointed because it's going to be in short supply.

Might just be a Sony marketing ploy...

Get hooks in early. Maybe

No, it's kind of been known now back as far as April that the PS5 may be in short supply or that Sony was limiting production in it's first year. In fact it was to produce less consoles than in previous releases. In the height of covid, apparently to production parts became expensive. Here's an article from April pertaining to this info.

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2020-04-16/sony-is-said-to-plan-limited-playstation-5-output-in-first-year

Jim Ryan to his credit has been quite good at managing expectations. He says that the consoles wont be cheap.

https://www.tomsguide.com/news/ps5-price-wont-be-cheap-warns-sony-boss-but-it-will-be-a-good-value

Signing up for a chance to pre-order is consistent with this evidence. Anything in short supply will garner an extra want or urge from patrons, no doubt. Remember the Snes Classic edition a couple of years back? Also, I think this initiative is the best way to resolving some of the shortage because apparently (and I can't verify this information) that Sony are looking at your purchase history and Trophy history when selecting successful pre-order applicants to minimize the chance of people trying to get these consoles just to sell them on at extortionate prices.  This way, they'll go to hardcore fans. Incidentally, hardcore hands will give good press about the consoles too, which I suppose is a positive consequence.

🤪l I'm always a little sceptic.

Good reporting ^

Yeah those darn resellers

Today's world just makes taking news with skepticism easier.SAD

The note on pricing- I  believe people have an unreasonable belief in a  $500 US price.

But it would be welcomed if it were.

Absolutely, my friend. It's a very healthy way to be, especially in this post-truth era we occupy.

I completely agree. When the specs revealed first a huge proportion people said things that there were no way the consoles will be cheaper than 6 or 700. However, I'm still hopeful we can get these consoles for 500. I don't think it's beyond the realm of possibility, either. Price is a huge factor and I think it's even more volatile this gen given these two consoles are a proper leap in performance.

In my country I'd expect the pricing for the two variants of consoles

Disc equipped PS5 - $750 - $799 (I'd estimate $799 will be the price)

Disc-less PS5 - $650 - $700

I don't see it being any cheaper or more expensive on launch on what I've estimated.

I've never purchased a launch console, as I've said previously the launch models will probably have their initial faults or flaws and then a year or two down the line Sony / Microsoft will release a revised version of the console ironing out the flaws of the previous model and that is usually when I'll jump in. I've just built a new gaming PC so not in a big rush but am still excited to see what there is to come.

One thing I'm hoping for is they kept the built in DVR and that it can now record 4K - 30FPS but I'd still settle for 1080P 60FPS. I have an external capture card (original Elgato) but since I don't really do small time youtube gaming anymore I haven't had a major use for it and I've just stuck to using the PS4 DVR for recording videos and then posting them online or turning them into GIFs.

Reminds me a lot of the Boomerang Controller that was originally with the PS3. Albiet more thicker than that.

PS5 Pre Orders begin on September 10, starting from £7999 'only'.

At least this confirms there will be £100 difference between PS5 and PS5 DE.
