What happened to the design that looked more like a DVD player? At least that looked good, this one looks ugly.

I'm guessing both consoles in both disc and discless variants are $500 or more and they're both waiting for the other just in case the other is somehow less than that in which case they'll probably chop a bit of the price off.

 

$600 would be an insane price but probably pretty realistic at this point. If either of them were close to $400 we'd have had the price by now I reckon.

The one thing I'm curious about is why they decided to make the default color white this time? PS2, PS3 and PS4 have been black. PS1 was grey. I like the white though. Just wondering now where I'm gonna put it because most stuff in my room is black. This thing is gonna stick out like a mofo.

Probably going to be like $700. The 1TB PS4 is still $500 and the PS4 pro is $550. Hopefully it gets a decent discount around Christmas.

The reveal was terrible. Only Hitman 3, HZD 2, Resident Evil, Demon Souls, Gran Turismo 7 being noteworthy plus the Bethesda game and the Capcom game. And the stray kitty game. A lot of kindergarten indie games and that dinosaur visual novel is just a joke. Their trailer sits at a 7K-13K like/dislike ratio.

 

The console itself looks neat. So backwards compatibility is granted? That's gonna be a thing?

I’m not 100 percent sure but I think it will be possible for PS4 games at the very least.

Yeah, I could be wrong but I though both PS3 & 4 claimed they would have backwards compatability. PS3 did for a short time, but I don’t see why Sony are so iffy about it.

Anything above 549$ is suicide IMO from both Sony and Microsoft. 

 

My guess is 499$ for the normal version and 449$ or even 399$ for the digital version. 

 

Remember that these companies are willing to lose a lot in the beginning and are fine with it. It'll be more profitable this way for them in the long run if they win the war on price. They'll get a lot from online services and game sales(30% of any purchase) later on.

The problem that Sony gave for not being able to play PS3 games on PS4 was that the PS3's system architecture is too hard to work with to make those games backwards compatible. Personally I think they're lying. They should have found a way.

 

Also the current head of playstation Jim Ryan said this a few years ago.

Yea Jim Ryan is one of those people who Sony need to stop allowing to be put in front of a microphone. He's basically Sony's equivalent of Don Mattrick, he screams of somebody who doesn't play games and has no idea about gaming culture.

 

I imagine the reason why Sony are so cagey on BC is because they're playing catchup to MS but they don't want to say that publicly. There's a bunch of things Microsoft are doing that Sony is inevitably going to have to play catch up with service wise but they're continuing to put all their pennies behind their 1st party studios right now. It's not a bad tactic of course given that they're still putting out hit after hit, unless of course Microsoft's 1st party starts doing that too.
