Resident Evil 8 is the only interesting reveal from all of this show, for me. Not interested in kids' and indies' games that could be mistaken for a PS4 game, or even Hitman 3 that visually and technically looks more of the same.

Not a fan of the white but it was to be expected once the controller design was revealed. It's a chunky looking thing.

 

Hopefully won't have to wait too long for raw HZD gameplay now.

Horizon 2 looks ambitious. 

 

But f*ck I absolutely hate that PS5 design. Doesn't look like Playstation. Looks like a sh*tty 90s fan made concept. f*ck this. How am I supposed to look at this thing for a whole generation. Gotta see a black version though. Maybe that would look better.

Also to remove dust from these shapes will be f#cked up. I am in love with the org. PS4 design.

An all black Version is my hope. Looking forward to the slim version. 

All digital is kind of cool. Could be cheaper than the Blueray Version.

I thought the console looked good. I'm a fan of the Black and White I must admit. I won't ever stray from my Xbox roots at this point, far too much invested on the green team, but I thought it was a really good showing. Kudos to them. 

 

Also Deathloop looked f*cking epic. Clearly a Dishonoured on steroids, but I'm more than okay with that. Still need to get around to Dishonoured 2.

 

Also the GTA V "reveal" was embarrassing. Some of the clips were clearly from the 2013 trailer, and compared to what was on offer with the other titles, it looked so dated, and I felt that was due to the clips they used. GTA V is still a great looking game when you're actually playing it, but that trailer done it no favours. Whoever knocked that together, along with that music, needs shooting.

I'll echo what I said in the chat thread elsewhere in the forum: felt like a lot of those games are nothing more than padding to fill out the launch year, even, and I can't believe I'm saying this, Spider-Man: Miles Morales. I'm guessing that's a smaller sized spin-off and not the fully fledged sequel but we'll see. Very few games worthy of the hype the show has been getting in recent days by people in the industry, partly cause a lot of the studios are small studios pulled from Japan and partly cause gameplay was a scarce commodity. Lots of AA games in there it felt like.

 

Horizon 2 tho, oof. Really, really looking forward to that. Deathloop also looks and sounds really interesting, I love the whole style that game has, curious how it all plays out with the multiplayer they were implying?

 

As for the console/price, it looks... alright. Doesn't look bad at all but looks a bit too fancy, and a bit of a dust nightmare given the shape (shapes?) of the console. It looks weird flat as well, sitting on some type of stand I'm guessing from the pictures?

 

Sony and MS continuing to play the tango with the price as well, curious how long they can both go without revealing the price at this point lol. We might not get it until like September at this rate...

When I saw Arkane I expected Dishonored 3, but from the trailer, Deathloop looks good. I really hoped for a new God of War, but nothing yet.

Any way what a phenomenal show, Horizon II: Forbidden West looks awesome, Spider-Man Miles Morales in 2020, yes, Ratchet and Clank looks dope, that Kena game looks fun and the Console itself looks slick as f*ck

With COVID-19 I don't think they'll be able to setup demo stations so that sucks.

Deathloop's multiplayer is basically a Dark Souls like invade feature, and it can be turned off. Was a bit worried it'd be forced so that's good. Gameplay does look a lot of fun and by the sounds of it the game is "console exclusive" (cause that term is all the rage nowadays) so it should be dropping on PC too for mouse and keyboard goodness.

 

That and Horizon are the ones for me, Horizon looks so damn good, the open world just from the glimpses seems like a huge step up from the previous game from the footage. Spider-Man I should be really excited for but the thought that it's probably just the equivalent of a standalone expansion sours me on it. Gonna need to get some info on that to explain if it's on the same scale as the previous game or not, but 2 years since the last game and it doesn't feature Parker as the main protag, I doubt it.

 

Honestly though the lack of gameplay in a lot of the footage today is just... After the trainwreck that was E3 2019, the E3 of CGI trailers, it didn't get me going. Deathloop showed a decent bit of gameplay in the trailer and it looked fantastic, R&C too looked good too and while Horizon didn't show any we know what to expect there and the rest looked fantastic.

 

If you're a console war type of person, Microsoft don't have to do an awful lot to match the bar Sony set here. Halo Infinite gameplay on XSX will probably do the job, and they're rumoured to have quite a bit more than that.

 

srsly tho gameplay devs, gameplay, all games look pretty these days visuals don't impress anyone anymore

I hope that in GTA 6 the main protagonist is also a cat. Imagine roaming big open world map as a cat! Would transform the series.

I thought the showcase was pretty decent. I enjoyed the content and presentation overall. I think the console looks beautiful upright, but not so much horizontal. Having said that, I think it might grow on me. With cooling in mind, it seems like it dissipates heat through the gaps, which is quite interesting. Also, notice that it looks like you need a strutt at the bottom for it to lay down. Most of the console doesn't actually touch whatever it's sitting on.  

 

As for games, I don't play on PS. But I liked the look of HZD and GT7. I'm happy enough with Forza, so nothing "must-have" in that presentation. Although I do like the look of Stray. That was very cinematic looking.

Absolutely put nothing on a console. They need as much airflow/cooling as they can get. I always leave a couple of inches on any side of my console to allow it space to breath.

1) Demon's Souls       - I'm a huge Souls fan and I have never played this game before. So naturally this is something I am super excited for. 

2) Horizon 2                - Loved the first one and I fully expect the sequel to be even better. 

3) Little Devil Inside    - Surprise of the show for me. Loved the artstyle and variety in gameplay. Plus it looks like it is trying to tell a moving story. All of those combined make this game something I want to play badly. 

 

Honorable mentions: Ratchet & Clank, GT7 and Spider-man.

The design sold me. I don't like the name or design of the new Xbox and I'm done with Forza so I'll be switching back to Playstation for a while. Any prices announced yet? I assume this will be very expensive in Australia but hopefully the digital only one will be a decent price.
